FPS Noobs Play Modern Warfare 2...Most of the Time

RespawnAction writes: " I am going to come flat out and say this right now. Sony's PS3 is the system for hardcore FPS fans. Their exclusive shooters, Killzone 2 and the upcoming MAG, are two of the best shooters to play. That is of course, you are able to use a small tactic called teamwork. Teamwork is something that is nowhere to be found on Modern Warfare 2..."

Most people screw team work in any game.
If a game focuses on team work, it doesnt go so well since most of the people that i know wanna play as the lone wolf -.-
Well you can cover there back, sure you can. But don't expect the favor to be returned lol.

Was playing uncharted 2 last night, I got killed more covering someone else ass.. But thats why I like parties. Once I had a party rolling, it was all good.

But i do prefer BCBF2 over K2 n MAG for team play. Being able to spawn in on ur squad mate is just plain AWESOME.

respawnaction5229d ago

touche, BC2 is plain awesome. DICE is a great developer.

stagga5229d ago

I have to admit on Battlefield 2 (PC) I was usually the assh*** running around by myself capturing bases and blowing stuff up :) I never really got on with BFBC I missed my mouse too much!

But why no mention of SOCOM in this article? From the MAG devs, that game has been wearing the Playstation tactical shooter crown (it's camo painted and all the shiny bits have been covered) for years now. Try the lone wolf approach in that game and see how long you last!

respawnaction5229d ago

@ stagga- I am aware how Socom is tactical, but that's a TPS. This article was about FPS. lol, :p

mjolliffe5229d ago

The way things are going, unless Infinity Ward pull their finger out and get all these glitches sorted, and preventing future ones, Bad Company 2 will come out on top.

bnaked5229d ago

Yo that's a great article! thumbs up!

_TheSituation_5229d ago

dont forget those map packs they better be amazing. And yes the patches rolling out a little more often would be a plus.

AAACE55229d ago

What does Mariah Carey say in her song... Oh yeah... "Delusional... Delusional, boy you're losing your mind!"

I bought Killzone 2 about 2 weeks after MW 2 came out and worldwide there were less than 500 people playing if online! I got into the MAG Beta when I preordered it around the same time and it feels more like Perfect Dark Zero with better graphics. So I really don't know what your trip is!

People will like what they like, just deal with it and quit! If what you're saying is really true, you wouldn't have to defend it and try to implant the thought into peoples heads!

HQLocated1115229d ago

I just got done playing a match of MW2 and wow what a piece of sh** game. I've never seen a game where people camp so much. At least on BFBC2 and MAG its not as easy to camp since there are more players, those games are all about teamwork.

I've just about had it with that sh**ty game. I feel like breaking it in half and sending it to Infinity Ward. But I'll do more harm by trading it in or selling it heheheheheh. I never thought I would say this but COD4 and WAW are WAAAY better games than MW2.

A Cupcake for Gabe5229d ago

In Killzone 2, you can spawn on anyone living in your squad.

I think Killzone 2 and BFBC are the best team based shooters. MAG is really good, but it's still getting a flow down. I think there are still to many lone rangers. once you die enough inMAG, you realize it's best to party up and fight in a team.

Maddens Raiders5229d ago

As my friend Guido would say

QFT

PoSTedUP5229d ago

everyone is good in MWF2 because it has a slight auto aim. thats not to say it is not fun to play from time to time. i wouldnt buy it though, i'm more of a socom/tactical gamer and yeah BFbadcompany2 and medal of honor: reboot looks to blow call of dudy out of the water. MAG is doing some amazing things for me in gaming also with 256 online.

Lich1205229d ago

I don't know about this one. First of all, the claim that the ps3 is the defacto standard for hardcore FPS seems a little, how you say, fanboyish. Im a huge FPS (and TPS) gamer and I don't do it as much on my PS3. I find I play the ps3 shooters for their single player (UC2, KZ2) but don't get into the multi. For me, the biggest thing is the controller. Im not a fan of the thumbstick placement and the lack of stick resistance. Im sure that will get disagrees but it is my opinion. For other game genres I think it's much better. Which is why Ill be picking up FF13 on my PS3 and not the 360.

BF2 PC I think was the best game for teamwork Ive played. That's why Im hoping BC2 is very similar. I love DICE so I have faith.

Also, I know the article was about FPS, but the first gears of war (the seconds multi was crap), was a game where teamwork was very important. Again, mentioning a 360 in this thread will probably get me hate, but since the article was directed at the ps3 being supreme for these sorts of things, I feel its relevant.

MiloGarret5229d ago

I don't get people complaining about campers in mw2, they're the easiest kills... They just sit there, waiting for you to shoot them in the face. I'm always happy to see campers in mw2 because it gives me an opportunity to outsmart an obviously thinking player rather than the morons who just run around with shotguns thinking they're going to get good scores.

I think most people who complain about this game just plain and simple suck at it and can't handle the mechanics. That, or they're sad litte fanboys who are pissed off that KZ2 didn't even reach a tenth of the success of mw2. Anyone claiming KZ2 requires more tactics and skill than mw2 in hardcore deathmatch and/or search & destroy has obviously never played neither game.

I own both games and I love them both, I'm able to camp or run around and be amongst the top three players every time on any map in both games. KZ2 BY FAR rewards campers more than mw2, it's not even a contest. If you haven't figured it out yet here's how:

1. Choose Scout, obviously,
2. select a spot where you can overlook a large part of the battlefield and objectives (all maps have at least a few of these). You should also be able to hide completely in this spot.
3. turn on invisibility
4. look out towards the objective/battlefield in general, turn on spot and mark
5. shoot any of the targets pointed out to you
6. hide, wait for the cloak to recharge
7. repeat.

Congrats, you earned somewhere around 50-60 kills and probably zero deaths. This is just one effective camping tactic in KZ2, my personal favourite is when my team manages to coordinate a complete lockdown of the exit point of their spawn.

Both games are great, both games encourage camping, both games have several flaws which are easy to exploit. Both games kick ass when you learn to play them correctly. The easy solution to all this complaining is to start playing with your heads instead of your asses.

Lich1205229d ago

The autoaim in MW2 drives me insane. I swear more often than not it results in me shooting a wall because it doesn't actually lock on, it follows a targets path but not the target itself. There should be an option to turn it off.

WildArmed5229d ago

Actually you can only spawn on your squad leader if he/she is alive in Killzone 2.
Unless they patched it VERY recently, I am a proud frequent player of K2 and would have noticed that ^^

peowpeow5229d ago

I really despise auto-aim, especially when I'm sniping since I like to do sweep shots (don't know what to call it) and as the scope is moving towards the enemy it automatically slows down and makes me miss! :@ If you know what I mean

WildArmed5229d ago

@1.16

yeah I know the feeling.
Auto Aim makes me fuk up when I aim.
I KNOW i need to cover some distance so I tap the joysticks to cover it... To my surprise Auto-aim kicks in moves me to the my target and since I moved the joystick to cover that distance my aim goes past the target.
It gets extremely frustrating. And you can't even turn it off.
Atleast in BCBF2 they had the option to turn off aim assist.

cyberwaffles5228d ago

"Being able to spawn in on ur squad mate is just plain AWESOME."

you can spawn in on a squad leader if you set up a squad in KZ2, although i find it useless half the time since other people are always throwing spawn points or the fact that the maps aren't too big to travel through.

i think kz2 should take a battlefield approach as far as map design and gameplay modes go. it's too one dimensional sometimes where everybody just runs in the center of the map and let chaos reign; prime example being radec academy. can't stand that map.

OGharryjoysticks5228d ago

SOCOM players are usually campers too unless it's a real clan match. Get a bunch of different clan members in a game and most of them camp and go for kills regardless of the match type.

Guido5228d ago

This is true for most if not all games on any console. It is also the reason why my team gets so many wins. We work together as a team and kill the opposition. Even in MW2, teamwork helps eliminate the others faster and more enjoyably.

rockleex5228d ago (Edited 5228d ago )

I get 35-40 kills and 5-10 deaths on an average Team Deathmatch game.

Are campers easy to kill? Yes.
Do I still hate them? Yes.

Are button mashers easy to kill in fighting games? Yes.
Do I still hate them? Yes.

Sure, they have a right to play whatever style they want. But it still doesn't change the fact that its one of the most annoying and hated play styles in shooting games.

It also doesn't change the fact that I can get more kills and less deaths than campers. ^_^

True skill can take you farther than camping ever can.

ico925228d ago

yeah they squat in the corner with the genreous auto aim and the M4 with unlimited range raking up kill streaks, which is why i prefer killzone 2's online

f7897905228d ago

I have played multiple domination matches where my team just camps one area and never makes a move for the other two areas.

I HATE IT!

solidt125228d ago

Say what you want but this weekend I stopped playing Modern Warfare 2 and Bad Company 2 beta and started playing Killzone 2 again. I love MW2 but after a while i feel like i have been playing the same game for 2+ years because it is with new maps and perks. Im having fun with Killzone 2 now. I know I will get back to MW2 but for now it is fun to have a break from it. I think this will be the year that we get tired of real life modern warfare type of games because everyone is doing it. I want to see more Sci-Fi type shooters with great graphics. Can't wait for Killzone 3.

mal_tez925229d ago

The aiming, shooting and movement are all overly simple, making it require little skill. I found the same problem in the MAG beta so I kind of disagree with the article.

In terms of pure gameplay, Killzone 2 beats every other FPS. The level of immersion is unmatched, you don't feel like a floating gun, but like an actual soldier. The weighty feeling of the movement and aiming, the way you can't aim while shooting (like you can in cod) and the way each explosion rocks the screen is just way ahead of all other FPS games. The guns don't feel like they weigh 10 grams, and you move like a person does and can't stop and change direction on a dime.

We need more games like Killzone.

supraman215229d ago

How is aiming and moving noobish? Just because your able to turn real quick which a real person can do or cause you can aim quickly pretty quick which you also can really do. Have you not seen any action movies with people running around with AK's and M4's moving around corners really fast and picking off people pretty quickly? It takes skill to aim accurately in real life and in call of duty cause there is no resistance holding you back. You probably suck at the game cause you have no reflex. Thats what this game is all about, REFLEX. If you are slow your gonna get shot. MAG is stupid cause there is no freedom with moving and aiming. If you see someone and they see you its pretty much who has there cursor closest to you is gonna win cause there is a set limit of how fast you can move.I have my sensitivity in COD set to 10. This is the reason why games like DOOM,Golden eye,Halo and COD are liked so much. The reason COD sucks is this: Campers, Noob toobs, Doubly gay ass shot guns, Grenade spamming and kill streeks. 3 was enough in number 4.

mario8885229d ago

Your Augment about reflexes would hold true except for Auto Aim, Bullet Magnetism and Low Health . Mw2 is abuot who see who first and who pull up first wins.

Dev8 ing5229d ago

Yeah killzone is the best FPS this generation. I disagree with people saying the 360 is the best place for FPS'. First the PC that is undenyable second the 360 isn't even as good as the ps3. What is there on 360 for FPS Halo3, ODST and Left 4 dead 1 and 2, compared to killzone 2, Resistance 1 and 2, and MAG. ODST and L4D2 are pretty much expansion packs.

D3R3K9035229d ago

You can change the sensitivity on MAG easily, you go to the options and look for a long bar that says something about sensitivity, its a really long bar and not very hard to miss, and each adjustment makes a difference so you can get the exact sensitivity you want when playing, should've checked for it before you said there wasn't one lol.

glennc5228d ago

bad company 1 is still better than kz2. how is kz2 way ahead of bc1 in actual gameplay??? maybe graphics but then thats all anyone cares about when their system is graphically superior. it was the same with xbox 1 owners. all the sudden gameplay is considered better if the graphics are better. sorry guys, it doesnt improve it that much. and then come the shortfall justifications like weighty feeling more realistic BS. in 2 years every decent fps will have destructible environments and as such introduce vehicles to blow the sh!t out of it all.

it is clear though that MW2 is not even in the running for best FPS this generation.

just my opinion

but the funniest part of this article is saying the PS3 is the console for hardcore FPS fans, both consoles offer enough games for the hardcore FPS gamer, the casual FPS gamer, the wannabe rockstar, the sportstar ... etc etc. they are in the business of giving as many people as big a variety as possible. its hilarious that the playstation brand finally gets a great shooter and is suddenly the king of hardcore FPS (on console). this is just onesided fanboyism from a desperate PS fan who has prayed for this day to come when he finally has a decent FPS to play. its like saying the 360 is the king of sandbox games because it got crackdown

ASSASSYN 36o5229d ago (Edited 5229d ago )

I love how people try and dictate how someone else should play a video game. If you camp your not playing a video game. If you run around the corner (the same corner) and die every 5 seconds hemorrhaging deaths to the other team. You are playing a video game. If you use a specific weapon that I don't like. How dare you.

Give me a break.

People put to much stock in whining as if it is effective. I don't listen to you nor care of your opinion of how I play a video game just like you won't care about my methods. What works for me has been working since the day I popped Ghost recon into my xbox and went on line. I played virtually every FPS spanning xbox to xbox 360. My tactics won't change to accommodate you tomorrow so get over it. Less whining and more playing. Can't take the heat...go play another game.

And yes battle field bad company 2 IS going to be sweet. And when you kids get tank shells landing on your head from across the map...that will be me. Warheads on foreheads.

And 90% of problems with cooperative online play can be solved by a friend joining you. If you don't have any don't be surprised when you get a generic nut job on your team whom style of play clashes with yours. And don't look for realism in a twitch shooter. There is none.

Fishy Fingers5229d ago (Edited 5229d ago )

Play what you want, the way you want. But dont moan about others doing the same thing.

FragMnTagM5229d ago

It doesn't matter which game you play. There is always going to be some douchebags that play the game their own way, so get over it.

Fishy Fingers5229d ago

The thing is, to someone else, you or I could be that douchebag.

mastiffchild5229d ago

Well, IDK. The thing is , if you play a agme designed to be played a cerrtain way like TF2 and you get someone purely wanting to lone wolf it is ruins it for everyone for thayt game and people's time can be very short and very important to them. So, wouldn't it be both wise and fair to think about what's the best way to get the most out of a game before you dive in? If you want to be a lone wolf choose a game where it won't damage the other people's time-is that really too much to ask as you'd be a lot better off playing COD with that mindset than MAG or TF2 and everyone would be happier. i think the issue is, often, that people feel that they should like every game that's released and just dive in without knowing what the developers relly had i mind when laying out the game and the maps.

Take KZ2. Noone complained about the controls in the beta. Noone that I remember anyway-yet when it released loads of people who hadn't looked into the ethos of the game were in a rage saying the controls were "broken" rather than thinking that maybe the game just didn't suit them or their style of play. there's two reactions Id advise to that situation:either you trade it in as a lesson learned for next time OR take on the learning curve and obtain a new, extra set of skills. Sadly, what hppened was GG got bombarded with moan after moan(from people who were ALWAYS going back to COD at the next opportunity anyway)until they diluted the very thing that gave KZ2 a lot of it's own identity. If people want every game to play the same then what's the point? Surely the fact games are different shows us that there's different tastes and different mehods in developers minds as well as ours.

So, rather than just inflict ourselves and a style of play that works in anothr game but not the new one shouldn't we play the game that suits said style of play and not risk ruining the fun of others?

I guess I might have arrived at this ;pov because, as many of you will know, it's often difficult to find even a half decent pair of teams for TF2 and if there's a couple of people playing like they're playing COD with randoms it can kill the game stone dead and as i said people don't always have los of time for their gaming. I wouldn't call anyone a douchebag for this kind of thing but do wish we'd all just consider the game we're playing before we go right in there playing a team based game selfishly-when there are games that reward other styles of play a lot more why wouldn't you want to play those anyway if you find your style at odds with a games population or design?

I also, don't think it's fair to say people who prefer the pick up and play likes of Halo, Resistance or COD are n00bs at all-you might just not have time to become great at a game with a longer learning curve or merely dislike the aesthitic of a certain game and you can't help that. Again, though, I think the most important thing is to realise that you won't love every game even in a gnre you like and a little research can save you a lot of abuse and a lot of money and mean you get a lot more out of your game time.

I was in the arlier MAG beta and though i tried and tried to g into it I was stuffed time and again by having teams full of people who just didn't grasp the concept of the fragos or why you wanted your XP in the gam and as a resul I only ever felt I'd played the game as it was designed on a couple of, in fairness, amazingly entertaining occasions! Thing is MAG needs gamers, a lot of gamers and needs them to play within certain parameters for it to even work let alon work well and, though , i'm giving it another chance myb earlier exprience makes me wonder if it's just too ambitious. I say this but the controls feel a lot more COD than KZ2 to me so in one way Zipper have tried to make entry tonthe game as easy as possible so you can concentrate on your fragos and way the game was designed to be played as with big squad based games it's essential, imo, to play as a unit if you want to get a fraction of the enjoyment to be had out of them.

So, sorry if it seems like i'm moaning-i'm not really, and just think a little thought before you jump into a game about whether it's going to suit you and if you're going to suit it and the majority of it's players is a very wise approach-for all concerned as it's just not nice from either end if you feel you're ruining someones night, is it? You can hear they're annoyed and it's never nice to get moaned at yourself! You can avoid anyone being the "douchebag" if you follow this as advice I reckon and I'm all about the harmony!

Also, COD might be easy to pick up but so is football and how many of us are truly outstanding at that? It's just a different kind of thing being great at something when most people are pretty good and trying for that isn't an easy way out just as it's not an easy route trying to master a more tricky game to learn the basics of. Wha is it with us gamers lways wanting to put things and othet gamers down when we don't have the first iodea why someone else might likea certain type of game or even if they have much of a choice about it due to their lifestyle.

Why MW 2019 is still the best looking Call of Duty to date

MW was an excellent videogame. They messed up Spec Ops big time, but aside from this it was a huge step in the right direction initially. Most notably, at launch it seemed to come from a very cohesive creative vision that was felt across gameplay, to story to art style/visual direction. It was also very notably written by prominent ex-Naughty Dog guys that quit almost immediately before release.

That COMPLETELY dissolved through post-launch content and the full pivot to a "cross-mode" narrative that completely obliterated the cohesion in overall story direction. Warzone then "became" the new face of Call of Duty and the franchise completely removed itself from anything remotely creatively "good". It is a pure money machine, so I kinda get why they're doing it....but I personally completely lost interest.

I would love to see Infinity Ward move off CoD and get to make their own product with full control. They clearly have some massive talent in their ranks but it's perverted by Activision's corporate interests.

PlayStation 3 Games That Desperately Need a PS5 Remaster

Even if they could just remaster and put on PSVR2, some would still look great as VR titles and could do a whole lot to bolster the headset w these exclusives! I'd imagine the investment of reworking these titles into VR would be way less than building new games from the ground up, and they could be amazing experiences, and VR often makes flat games feel fresh again. The Resistance and Killzone games are particularly what I want to see!!

Rude-ro58d ago

I played killzone 3 in 3d and it really changed the game per being immersive.
In vr, that would be even more awesome.

darthv7258d ago

Funny you mention that... my son wanted to play some PS3 games in 3d on my PS tv and he was blown away by how good KZ3 was. It really was a great addition to the game. Im surprised there have not been more 3d games from that era being ported to the PSVR/VR2.

Killzone trilogy in VR would be amazing bonus points if they offer shadow fall.

There was a psvr1 Killzone project that supermassive was working on at one stage which wasn't up to scratch and Sony brand it back in house I was hoping we would see that on psvr2 eventually.

Personally I'd love to see some more love or acknowledgement of psvr2 from Sony in general it was a expensive headset and Sony barely acknowledge it's existence

seanpitt2358d ago

The amount of work needed to remaster these games wouldn't be beneficial on a financial and business sense.. MGS4 would probably be the best bet as it would need the least amount of work!
