A bit harsh, but I certainly agree that defending something because "it's not supposed top tier graphics" or "it's not meant to be cinematic" or whatever because it's "fun" is ridiculous. Even if I did have fun with a game, that is zero excuse. They make insane amounts of money.

They are holding back because people keep giving them money. There is no other franchise that they come up to and approve this lack of quality. Imagine how much better these games would be with actually decent writing, real graphics artists and animators. They simply don't care and take advantage of customers. As soon as they do care enough to point it out, they will then pretend they're listening and good guys for it. I just want good performance and not look like I'm still playing GameCube/PS2 games, which I literally have played just before playing this and this is honestly only better in resolution and the rest is hardly improved.

I guess the TL;DR is that AAA franchises shouldn't take advantage of the strangehold they have on the market to give results below an Indie devs standards.

This is what's going on when people ignore factually good criticisms over bugs, glitches, performance issues, and lack of overall effort because they know they have an addictive formula. Fun, fun, fun, fun. Didn't say I don't have fun with it. But, issues are fun-killers. They make you put the game down or distract from the engagement/immersion you have. Look at Skyrim. Seriously fun game. But, the bugs are notorious. Think I didn't play and enjoy Skyrim? What about Cyberpunk? You think it's negative to point out problems?

Exactly. I have such fondness for the games, having been playing Nintendo games since the NES days.... but I absolutely can't stand the business themselves. I wish the company itself was as lighthearted as their games. Management is run more like the Orphan of Kos.

Publishers have the ability to enforce milestones and quality control on the developers they're overlooking. Probably doubly so with a second party, being now your product is actually a face for their own platform.

Nintendo, as well as all of the big three, have cancelled these sort of products many times over the years.

Nintendo just doesn't want to say no to Gamefreak because the games always still make a bunch of money.

Nintendo is definitely just as responsible for this release as Gamefreak.

100% people do. But even if the generic fan doesn't, companies like Digital Foundry, IGN, GameSpot etc (websites who have all had pretty decent coverage of the shitshow that is this game) do. Digital Foundry especially. Hell, companies often contact THEM for technical feedback.
