Let's face it, this is the only way the Octopath Traveler brand would stay relevant.

Octopath's art style was it's niche. With said style now being used in other, more beloved games like DragonQuest or Live a Live, it has nothing else to draw people in.

Octopath Traveler is a great game in and of itself.

Hey hey whoa now slow down partner. Octopath Traveler was amazing. And it's art style was beautiful.

I would rebuy and platinum Octopath if they ever put it on PS5. I put about 90 hours into the Switch version—absolutely a masterpiece in modern game design with such homage to the SNES days.

art style was niche? ive shown this to many people who arent a fan of retro games and they all think it looks fantastic. Its not niche at all, just new.

It sold millions on console and pc. I doubt it was going away. Square is one part greedy and another part trying to cater to Japanese phone game lovers

Absolutely couldn't disagree any more. Pre-Xbone release I would've genuinely recommended a Switch almost entirely on the back of it.

What a bad take. These 2D HD games are gorgeous. Live A Live is a huge improvement over the original while keeping its charm. Triangle Strategy is probably their best looking one yet. As for niche these games Octopath sold a million copies… not really niche for a JRPG
