It all comes down to something called "bedsheet deformation," which is exactly what it sounds like: Ensuring that blankets on beds are mussed up accurately, just like they would be in real life. This is important because the "sleep and bed relaxation" element of Squadron 42, the singleplayer portion of Star Citizen, was recently updated so NPCs are now able to find and enter their beds, and then sleep until they're scheduled to get up.

There's way more distractions at work than there is at home for me. I've always got people coming up asking something, want to chat, and noise all over. At home I can sit and focus on my work and not deal with most of that. Instead of someone coming to my desk asking something, they send a Teams message I can avoid long enough to finish what I'm working on.

They are seemingly willing to pay for it too no matter the cost. It behoves RSI to take advantage of the unique situation they find themselves in even if it ends up in failure.

Thing is, if you've promised "the best damn space sim ever" implying something better than on par to Elite Dangerous or No Man's Sky, both of which have only improved in terms of being space sims since public release, the latter especially, if you're working on such a minute detail as an unmade bed you shouldn't have people asking "where's your actual 'space sim' Rob?"

Where other call this a scam I say its the felicity of perfectionism. He's just never going to finish it so long as the money keeps coming in, and when it stops he's going to be forced to close up shop cause, having likely long passed a point where it could be called done and released, there will be no way to actually "finish it".

The Alpha is playable and everyone can see where the space sim is now. They also have a development portal where you can see progress or lack thereof. Star Citizen is being developed on a AAA budget and is going to have detail and fidelity the other games will not be able to attain as greatly improved as they are. Recall the stories about RDR2 and fact that in cold weather the testicles of horses would shrink. This is a totally superfluous detail but it is in the game simply because they could.

Development of both Star Citizen and SQ42 has moving been at the pace of a glacier and still every year they raise more money than the last. CIG do run the risk of taking so long people either stop supporting it or some other company is able to take newer tools and do what they are doing quicker. CIG could very well hang themselves with the rope they have been given but they have been handed a lot of rope.

Thing about comparing SC to RDR2 is that the latter's out and player's discovered cold horse balls on their own - why they were looking is their own affair.

Point is that travel between sectors to build economy, players interacting with one another and NPCs establishing lore between themselves should be things before anyone talks about messed bedding. Sure as eff SQ42 should have released instead of residing in the same development limbo.

This game is truly one of the biggest scams in gaming. On HIGH END PC's this game still runs like total garbage for the most part. There needs to be laws regarding how long a game can remain in either Early Access or Alpha states unless they are free to play with no microtransactions. This is absurd it's still nowhere near being finished and they are focusing on stuff like this vs stability and getting away from Alpha.

Most notable case of perfectionist ableism you mean. Genuinely think Roberts was being honest with the project at the beginning, its just that ambition ha outweighed ability. A game he truly never intended to finish is likely never going to be in a releasable state.
