It’s been 13 long years since Electronic Arts last released a rugby game. Since then, games like Rugby Challenge 4, Rugby 20, and Rugby World Cup 2015, have all come and gone, but none of them have really hit the mark in quite the same way. Maybe it’s the fact that these new games are missing licences, have players that defy the laws of physics, and referees that seem intent on ruining a good game, or maybe it’s the fact that they just pale in comparison to the golden age of EA Sports games.
Sure, Jonah Lomu Rugby, which released in 1997, was actually produced by Codemasters – a studio EA now owns – but Rugby 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2008, which were all made by EA Sports, are still considered to be superior games when compared to the modern day equivalents made by the likes of Nacon and Eko Software. As for why? Well, the proof is in the pudding.

Steam is changing its refund policy, but you probably won’t be affected
Should have happened a long time ago. People wanting refunds after 50 hours in game.
Daily reminder that 'TheGamer' is a corporate-generated, anti-gamer, anti-consumer, clickbait web site. They are mostly A.I. generated articles that villainize gamers. They provide nothing positive and actively try to provoke and divide the community through extreme view points and politics. Do not give them any clicks.
Only scumbags? As if people don't play their games on console put in the most amount of hours and return it to GameStop and trade it in for another game. But also how many people are actually do this? And what games have been allowed to be refunded?
A job listing published by the UK studio reveals that its next project will be another entirely new IP.
Good. Something not boring, not one of those "make your own game" crap and also on Steam would be nice.
No EA need to stay the hell away from any and all sports.. with the possible exception of a new Fight Night but they'd find a way to screw that up too.
Why would Rugby loot boxes be a good thing?
EA needs to die.
EA needs to be stripped of the any and every chance that they may aquire to make any sports game. They basically hold a Monopoly on several sports. Why would you want them to add Rugby to their list of potential virtual casino?
It's EA lootboxes same shit, wash, rinse, repeat. I like NHL games I haven't bought one since the Dreamcast era when Sega was making sports games. I have other NHL games on later consoles but they were bought used dirt cheap around the $5 mark and some were given to me free. Sports leagues need to shop around for other gaming companies there are a lot more studios then there use to be since the 16bit days. " EA Sports it's in the game" is not always the best answer.
