The Nintendo Switch is my truest source of joy right now

Maybe you should play a video game. Even if you haven’t played one in years — or ever.

If I didn't have one, my girlfriend would have likely already killed me. Animal Crossing has become part of her routine now hahaha.

PS4 here, and still enjoying the hell out of Wii U.. i don't game outside of home, switch isn't a need for me.

I never game on the go but would still easily recommend a Switch as a companion to PS4. It has built up a fantastic library of games over the last 3 years. I am really enjoying Octopath Traveller at the moment and have Astral Chain, Bayonetta 2 and still cannot resist dipping back into Splatoon 2 and Mario Kart 8.

The thing I love about a lot of Nintendo stuff is it really does rely on great art design to counter its relative weakness in respect of technical performance, so you often end up with really lovely looking games.

Spuds:

i agree with most of what you said, but i see no reason buying a switch when i had wi u since day one. yes it has some exclusives, but splatoon 2 is same as 1, MK8 is on wii u with the DLCs, bayo 2 is on wii u, BoTW and it has some fun family games, which is why we're still using it today. We play Mario bros U 4 players with wiimote it is a blast. wiimote is far better alternative to the joycons.
i also think gamepad is superior for many reasons, because you can use it in unique ways and also to control the TV. I just think Wii U is a better experience for me.
i've tried switch, i'm really not fan of the concept, and i have big hands, i need to bend my fingers like crazy to hold the cons horizontally..

@bouzebbal
Thats fair enough mate, we all like different things.

I was a huge fan of my WiiU too, and even went as far as buying games up as I figured a good WiiU collection would be very desirable in future, so it did pain me to see everything getting rereleased on Switch. I also agree with you in respect of the ergonomics of the Switch compared to the WiiU controller. The WiiU was a bit big, but the controls, in particular the sticks, feel much better than Switch.

I offset that by only ever using a Pro controller though, and I do tend to buy remasters of most of the games I own on WiiU just because they are often a bit better looking and I have another reason to replay them.

Honestly though, it was the compulsive desire to play Mario Odyssey that made me buy Switch, and I just never looked back.

I think it was meant to read...
“Animal Crossing is my truest source of joy right now.”

That's probably true for a lot of us. I've been keeping mildly busy with the very small amount of work I have currently (done remotely), as well as those two easy, college-kid 100 level courses I'm taking. Otherwise I have a lot of free time, and don't often go anywhere. Animal Crossing has been keeping me busy though.

I just finished phase 1 of my overly-ambitious terraforming plan. Phase 1 is the residential area, and although I will need to move the remaining villager's houses into their new yards over the next week (I don't time travel), it's more or less finished aside from some minor decor elements I might add. Why I thought it was a good idea to go for a symmetrical, mostly centered, three-tiered structure containing 8x10 yards, which are surrounded by cascading waterfalls on the bottom and middle tiers, I can't tell you. I will say it was the bane of my existence for the past few days, so I'm super glad it's finally done.

Now I live on top, next to my two starter villagers (Genji and Plucky). Of the ones remaining, the four more adorable ones live on the middle level (Celia, Cheri, Marina and Marshal), and the four less adorable ones live on the bottom (Curt, Gayle, Gigi and Nate). On the middle level there's kind of a central square with a fountain in the middle, and a staircase up to the top level. There are arched stone tiles all along, and iron and stone fencing along the outer edges of the cliffs (on the spaces adjacent to the cascading waterfalls of course).

I had the "brilliant" idea to give each villager a different kind of fence, which meant hitting up my friends for a couple more recipes (I do still need to get the brick fencing recipe for phase 2 come to think of it). Moreover, their individual fencing is all different from the iron and stone fencing I'm using myself and for the public areas, as well as the brick fencing my friend gave me for around town hall (which has a staircase leading from the back of it to the mid-level residences).

Over the next week I'll be paying 50,000 bells a day to move villagers while trying to save up for red brick staircases so I can start phase 2, which will involve the central plaza, and making a level up from the left side to house most of the service buildings, with another staircase up to house the museum. I also intend to make a level up on the right side to make an above-ground park space that connects to the mid-residential area, and possibly a third level that can be accessed from that park area where I may decide to put the camp.

Phase 3 will be when I decide if I want to have a river again, and how I want it to flow, since I do have areas in the south side that I've managed to leave as untouched as possible thus far. Trosstopia's river and a lot of trees were casualties in all of this construction.

Phase 4 will be when I decide whether I want to keep what remains of my second and third level nature in the back of my construction, or do something cool with it, like maybe having a path down to the secret beach where Redd shows up. I know there's a limit on how, many inclines I can have, and I'll have used up six once phase 2 is complete, so I may have to get creative.

Yeah...I've been keeping busy. And if Nook wonders why I haven't paid a single red bell towards my final house loan, it's due to all of this.

Good for you. I love my xbox and its brings me much joy during these strenuous times , can i write a article and share it with everyone?

Razmiran1469d ago

What is stopping you buddy?

King_Noctis1469d ago (Edited 1469d ago )

You can do that in the user opinion section.

As if having Polygon articles on here isn't annoying enough, now we get their parent site too. At least they aren't trying to talk about Doom, haha.
