Final Fantasy XIV Is Going to Make Square Enix a Lot of Money Today With Y’Shtola’s New DLC Dress

Today Square Enix released more of what it calls “Optional Items” for Final Fantasy XIV, and this one is going to make the publisher a lot of money.

It is a nice dress... I'm guessing it'll cost 19.99 and no outrage.

Half that and its optional, just like the other dozens and dozens of outfits for sale (or mounts, or emotes). Seeing as there's so much you can get for free and in game for customization (or mounts, or emotes, etc), no one gets outraged at all.

Well now. I surely don't get outraged, but I know a LOT of people annoyed by optional mog station stuff on top of the monthly fee.

What do you mean free? You buy the game and you have to pay a monthly sub. That is not free my good sir.

New AAA games release at $60 dollars, normally.
They take millions, sometime hundreds of millions, to develop.
This is a single dress, available in a game you had to buy to play, and only can play as long as you keep up your monthly subscription. It costs you a sixth of the total cost of an entirely new game.
This isn't the only mmo to do this, by any means, but I'm always going to call it out as bs.
This is stuff I want to see only from either free-to-play mmo's, or single purchase ones where you pay the initial cost, there's no subscription, and stuff like this helps support additional content.

This is just triple dipping.

Oh noes... Let me cry aswell because I am poor and my belief is that I HAVE TO OWN all the stuff for FREE..
I sure have to call Apple right away. I mean, first I was forced to pay for my iPhone 11 Pro, then I was forced to pay a monthly payment to be able to use the phone for texting and calls, and I was also forced to buy covers... The worst thing is that my friends had OTHER covers and cases that I don't have, and I call that BS.. I NEED THOSE FOR FREE.

I have to cry more and hope someone hear me out.

@Jsm89k It's an MMO with a monthly sub... Rather sad complaining about a game that's been out 6 years, won multiple awards, had high review scores (91 metacritic for Shadowbringers), and released 3 expansions so far, for having a subscription... If you don't want a monthly sub, by all means there are many other games like Black Desert and it's pay-to-win features...

The optional items are just that, optional. It's another mogstation update for most people playing it - too busy playing the new dungeons, raids, trials, and savage/extremes, earning rep with the new Beast Tribe for the mount / minions, or farming to get a flying shark (new patch stuff that dropped the week before), to actually care. Doing A rank hunt trains (cross world linkshells) / duties, seen 0 people sporting it... Most people I see are sporting the new steam punk crafted armor. If it helps them create more content on a regular basis (and they release new quests, dungeons, raids, trials, events, etc often) and is optional...
