"There are plans to support Pokemon Go in the future as well"

Aaaand I'm out. See y'all in 8-12 months probably.

andydalum1568d ago

That is disappointing for me as well since I never had the pokemon bank when I was younger to have my collection but I have played pokemon go since launch and it would have been nice to be able to move things from it into pokemon home.

Vits1568d ago

Well, because they like money.

ZeekQuattro1568d ago

Why does any for profit company charge for it's services?

Sono4211568d ago

You're completely ignoring it's incredibly anti-consumer pricing scheme. Google drive provides 15GB completely FOR FREE, that's enough online storage to hold all Pokemon like 1,000 times each! Obviously those aren't exact figures but it just goes to show that charging so much for mere megabits of data is absurd. Or if you want to compare it to a videogame competitor Playstation Plus gives us 100 GB for online storage, and yes I know PS plus costs $60 a year vs Pokemon Home's $15 a year, but PS plus also gives you two ENTIRE GAMES every month, plus online of course.

Even compared to Nintendo's own online service it's a scam, it's hard to look up but supposedly they allow up to 32GB for their cloud saves included with their online subscription which is $20 a year, that is more than enough to save literally every single pokemon, not to mention you get NES, and SNES games, and the ability to play online (Even though their online is awful) that is a WAY better deal than paying $15 a year literally just for megabits of data!

Each Pokemon is roughly 3mb's of data making them VERY low cost to save every one, the cost per data ratio is so unbelievably high it's a pure scam.

@ Sono421I'm not ignoring anything. They're a business. A greedy one at that so my question stands. They charged for Bank. No surprise they charged for another service.

Sono4211568d ago (Edited 1568d ago )

So... a greedy scam is okay as long as it's in pursuit of profit? Is that really the precedent you want to set? Well i'd love to hear your opinion on microtransactions..

$15.99? And this is on top of the subscription for Nintendo online...

Nebaku1568d ago (Edited 1568d ago )

Too bad they're forcing you to buy this completely optional app that has free functionality too!

-Foxtrot1568d ago

Sigh...not the point

This is where greed starts and deep down, after seeing the countless wave of shit that's grew worse over the past decade alone, you know it.

andydalum1568d ago

I mean if your someone who has used pokemon bank in the past (I'm not one of them) and have kept your pokemon to have a living dex or competitive pokemon with egg moves or perfect shiny pokemon you have breed you don't have an option if you want to keep them. Not to mention the fact that this service does seem to be very steep but they can get away with it because the player base of Pokémon has no other option to keep all their work up until this point. I am only interested in the function of putting pokemon from let's go into pokemon home and pokemon go but i think it's a slap in the face to charge someone more who has supported your games for years.

Christopher1568d ago

If you're paying for the game, how is any of the functionality free? There's literally a price point to access those functions.

DragonWarrior191568d ago

You do realize that The Pokemon Company and Nintendo are not the same company, right? Pokemon Home has nothing to do with Nintendo besides being on the Switch.

-Foxtrot1568d ago

What's that got to do with anything?

You'll still need both if you want to do things like receiving ranked match battle details from Pokemon Sword/Shield.

SpeedDemon1567d ago

@Fox
Umm everything?
You're criticizing Nintendo for the actions of a 2nd party developer.

Xaevi1568d ago

I'd say that I'm glad there's at least a free option, but 15 dollars a year is completely unnecessary. Also they take longer than a year to release this and it doesn't support Go, will probably take another year for it to. Tell me again how Pokemon is for kids.
