There you go EA.

It turns out that gamers love single player games afterall, and that if you make a good (singleplayer) game, people will buy it.

Who would have thought?!

Mr_Writer851638d ago

Another one who didn't actually read what EA said.

"EA chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen described the canned Star Wars title as a ‘much more linear game, that people don’t like as much today as they did five years ago or 10 years ago.’

I'm no EA fan, and they need calling out.

But let's not over exaggerate what the guy said. Especially when what he says is true...

Inzo1638d ago

Thats cherry picking, EA has said on a number of occasions that SP games is the past and GAAS is the future.

ArchangelMike1637d ago (Edited 1637d ago )

@ Mr_Writer85

I didn't actually quote anyone directly - even though EA execs have made comments on their general stance on singleplayer games. Which is to move away from singleplayer games, and to focus on multiplayer games as a service model.

Moreover, I actually didn't mention any "guy" so I don't know who you're referencing there. However there's certainly no exaggeration to say that EA no longer focus on single player games, because there are seen as not being as profitable as multiplayer games.

Dont be lazy.

But here you go, one of many examples.

Mr_Writer851637d ago

@inzo

My quote was from that very article.

The quote talks about linear games not being as popular (this is true) not sp games.

So if you could provide a link to a quote re SP games not being as popular (as in all SP games, not linear SP games, as there is a difference) that would be swell.

Inzo1637d ago

"The quote talks about linear games not being as popular (this is true) not sp games."

next time you can find the link, its simple.

Mr_Writer851637d ago

@inzo

A link to a nearly 10 year old article, with a quote from a man who left EA some time ago?

Was hoping for something in the last 2-3 years rather than 9 but hey you got there in the end.

But the fact that A) it was 9 years ago B) the man in question no longer works at EA. C) He didn't say sp games don't sell, that they're moving away from that model.

Means that I was still right, they didn't say SP games don't sell

Inzo1637d ago

Right about what exactly? See now you are moving the goal posts, neither Mike nor myself said that EA said that SP games dont sell but while we are on that subject I will say it now and regardless whether that Wired article is ten years old or not EA thinks SP games dont sell and that its not a viable business model that is why they recently affirmed that they are all in with GAAS when they released their financials. Proof of this, they have no games releasing in the next 6 months meaning that they will be squarely focused on GAAS.

Sony and Nintendo knew this years ago. Like since the 90s. But not EA

Mithan1638d ago

Its ok, some useless executive at EA will find a way to screw it up.

leoms1638d ago

To be fair what other Star Wars game can you compare it to? BattlefronT? It's an above average game I would place it at the same level as Andromeda tbh.

Mr_Writer851637d ago (Edited 1637d ago )

"It turns out that gamers love single player games afterall"

This insuiates that you believe EA think gamers don't want SP games.

@inz
"Right about what exactly? "
That EA didn't say single players games don't sell, or gamers don't want single player games.

They said they don't want linear single players games, and the evidence is there to see that they're right. And there not the only ones who believe this.

Hence why most single player games (and the most popular ones) are open world.

But let's not let simple facts get in the way.

They're not looking to acquire, but are they looking to be acquired? That's the big question now with companies like EA, T2, etc.

badboyz09293d ago

EA relies way to much on their licensed ip's which isn't a good thing for a Buyer.

-Foxtrot294d ago

I really want them to finish up Cal's story so LucasFilm are free to use him in a TV show or Film if he survives in the end anyway

Cal or Ezra should be rebuilding the Jedi Temple Order...not Rey.

CrimsonWing69293d ago

Please do. These Jedi games have been exceptionally top tier.

StarkR3ality292d ago

Other than their performance but yeah

CrimsonWing69292d ago

I didn’t really run into performance issues, but I played it on PS5.

neomahi293d ago

We don't want it, let someone else develop Star Wars

Tacoboto293d ago

1. Yes we do want it
2. One of the biggest recent announcements has been Star Wars Outlaws, developed by someone else.
