Aside Game Pass delights, what were the very best bits announced at X019?

Paul writes: "X019 took place in London between November 14th-16th and I was glued to the coverage on Mixer, emitting the odd squeak and generally getting excited with all the games and features that were being revealed. With a very welcome expansion to Xbox Game Pass being the main highlight for me personally, there were still a lot of other things to get excited about. I'd like to present to you here my favourite five things that were shown at X019, not counting the Game Pass bits."

Everwild was no doubt a pleasant surprise! A new open world adventure game with gorgeous and colorful artwork; the world is beautiful, lush, alive and diverse. I personally hadn´t been so excited for a RARE game in a long time!

Can´t wait to explore this new world!

moriarty18891807d ago (Edited 1807d ago )

yes i agree. Everwild looks like classic Rare artstyle. Loved the world of Kameo and this gives me similair vibes.
Lets hope it is sp offline and not online mp only like SOT.

I'm starting to come around to Project Xcloud. It's really starting to impress me.

But the absolute BEST thing about XO19 was the lack of Phil Spencer! They should leave that Smug Ass behind the curtains more often

Smug... I think you are confusing Spencer with Greenburg.

monkey6021807d ago

Nope. I can picture Spencer with his stupid grin and pop culture t-shirt under his blazer jacket right now. Absolutely hate the guy and wish he'd shut up bloating Xboxs achievements and just make good on some of his meaningless promises already

darthv721807d ago

^So... you got a thing against people who wear pop culture T's and is proud to talk about gaming stuff??? I only wished i had that kind of job.

monkey6021807d ago

Nah I have something against arrogant company men who will say anything they think you want to hear just to please you. With no intentions of backing it up.
Corporate wolves in "good guy" sheep's clothing. The man's a fake and he has a chunk of the Xbox gaming community eating out of the palm of his hand because he pretends to be just like them

GamerRN1807d ago

I've been using the streaming beta that lets you stream from your own console any game, and honestly it works really good! I was even able to play Madden on it without any control issues.

Now if they add Samsung TVs so I only need one console I'll be set!

monkey6021807d ago

Last year I'd have told you I had no interest in playing console games on a mobile screen or anywhere other than my living room television but I've really come to like the idea

IanTH1806d ago (Edited 1806d ago )

You could output your phone to a TV over HDMI. Though MS doesn't have this yet, Sony has a PC app for their Remote Play, so you could also use an old PC/Laptop/NUC etc to stream that way - I have to assume MS will have something similar at some point in the not to distant future.

Direct, onboard TV support would be nice, but I think without a standardized platform (maybe Roku or FireTV?) that'll be difficult, but more so that if there are platform holder (ie Samsung) restraints in terms of requiring to go through QA and then the speed with which updates are dispatched, that it'd be difficult to ensure quick enough updates on the TV side to coincide with platform changes MS rolls out on their consoles and such.

I'd imagine what we'll end up seeing for usage scenarios like yours, though, will be the creation of an Xbox-Dongle. A FireTV stick sized device they control the hardware and software of that will just be a dummy device for streaming, like a miniature Steam Link, and sold cheaply to allow streaming to other devices in the home.

GamerRN1806d ago

MS has had streaming to PC for some time now... I wanna say a year...

Playing on my 11 inch tablet isn't horrible, just not ideal... But I like leaving the main TV open for everyone else in the fam

No showing of AAA exclusives releasing for the XBO for it's last year. The only game that really stood out at XO19 was Everwild.

Traecy1806d ago (Edited 1806d ago )

That's the only XBO AAA console exclusive action game released since 2016. The XBO has an entire year left, the console should have at least 2 AAA exclusives XBO owners can look forward to to play before Scarlett releases around this time next year.

Let the COD on GamePass experiment begin!
I would think their quarterly revenue will take a hit compared to a year ago, but will maybe make up for it throughout the year as the monthly GP subs keep coming in

pwnmaster300016d ago

Was up with call of duty man?
I downloaded cod on gamepass and for some reason I cannot access the game.

darthv7216d ago

just curious what version? There are some that you can pre-load, but they wont work until their release date later this month.

pwnmaster300015d ago

I have to redownload it again for the 3rd time to check.
I ended up just deleting it to make room for other games after the second time.

It was on Xbox game pass, I didn’t know there was other versions. I just downloaded everything, but sadly I couldn’t even access the game. Maybe 3rd time the charm. I’ll download it again.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH15d ago

It’s not out yet man unless you’re talking about MW3.

pwnmaster300015d ago

I’m talking about mw3. For some reason I could not get it to work.

just_looken15d ago

On xbox there is the last gen/current gen versions pc though you could also get a xbox version.

When that new forza first came out for one day they had the xbox version on the pc store i was like ? what it was odd.

On xbox you can easily download the one version of a game instead of the series version so you run into issues on your series console.

pwnmaster300015d ago

Because a game won’t run after I download it??
Man your kids must hate your @ss if that’s how you think.

It's going to be very interesting to follow up on how the new entry of CoD will perform at the box office, player numbers and distribution of Xbox, PC and PS versions this year.

DivineHand12515d ago

I got excited thinking they ported StarCraft to consoles but it's just the PC version. Also, I thought Starcraft 2 was already free to play.

TheColbertinator15d ago

I'm certain it is going to be the Campaign Collection version.

Xbox Cloud Gaming Tests New Game Invitation Feature: A Step Towards Social Gaming?

Kudos to "Better Xcloud" developer redphx for the discovery.

It looks like Xbox Cloud Gaming (Xcloud) is testing out game invitations that appear like they could be used for virtual couch multiplayer.

This would be similar to Amazon's "Luna Couch" feature that let's you play couch-coop games with your friends across the Web.
