“Bethesda Softworks” was once a name that conjured up images of grand adventures and interesting worlds. It was once a name that, upon hearing it, instantly brought to mind the particular open-ended RPGs that uplifted its studio to legendary status. That is, unfortunately, no longer the case.
Gravemaster writes: "Game of Thrones and A Song of Ice and Fire is a successful franchise, but it hasn’t had much luck when it comes to video games. Many were released, but only the one from Telltale games received more or less recognition and it was cancelled after one season anyway. Now, we have news of another Game of Thrones game in development."
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth publisher Square Enix has declared a $140m loss based on a shakeup of its internal development pipeline.
What are they doing over there? Sounds like they canceled something big. I read a rumor a while back about ff9 remake . Here "Final Fantasy IX has gone through a very challenging development, the game is still in progress but may undergo changes drastic enough that we won't hear about it for a couple of years."
This could be one of the reasons if the rumor is true. That was Silknight i don't know how credible he is but it's something and it would make sense.
The industry implosion is continuing. Sky high budgets, prolonged development windows, stagnant sales numbers, and falling currency values (inflation) are wreaking havoc on the legacy industry. AAA games will slowly become the rarity.
Danish from eXputer: "The Witcher's upcoming sequel needs to overhaul the series' combat system if it wants to make a big splash among gamers."
after what we see ( 2015 - 2024 ) in dark souls 3, blood borne , sekiro , dragon's dogma 2 , rise of the Ronin combat they should really careful and bring very good combat in Witcher 4 this time
I agree Fallout 76 was a disaster. However, I hope Bethesda has learned and will be able to move on from the mistakes they e made lately, if not, then they deserve to sink.....such a shame!
They're certainly becoming hated and with very good reason.
Not quite irrelevant yet, as they're still making games and the gaming community is still talking about them.
They have two very important next gen games upcoming if people don't rush to get them then the theory is correct but tbh I can not wait for the new Elderscrolls game.
I was worried about their future games when they announced they were using the same engine as Oblivion for their next gen games so throw in the PR madness they've been indulging in recently and I've got little faith in them anymore to deliver anything special.
I'd like nothing more than to be proved wrong because Oblivion, Skyrim and Fallout 3 are among my top all time games.
Let's see how elder scrolls ends up and we'll see. I disliked elder scrolls online a whole lot
