Borderlands 4 Might Be In Trouble

Borderlands 3 didn't do much to change the series, so will the next game succeed if it's just more guns, jokes, and references?

If you have a fan base that likes the gameplay and the art direction, you do not change the formula. If you're looking for change, then you aren't actually a fan of the series. If you want something that plays different, then go play something else. It was attitudes like that of the author, which ultimately ushered in Socom's downfall.

I bought Borderlands 3 because I wanted more borderlands if it becomes a biennial title maybe it'll grow stale but if they make us wait a few years before the next one then I have no problem with it staying the same.

I guess the controversy articles and articles saying people being upset with the game aren't going over that well, as despite some reviewers saying that it's just more of the same, the many people playing it are liking it because it's an improvement on the last game.

for F...ks sake if it's not broken!! Borderlands, just like any other f'n game isn't going to be for everyone. But at the end of the day the game is great and players love it for what it bloody is. A great f'n looter shooter; actual emphasis of looter. If Gearbox made changes you guys would be riding their cocks about how the old system was far better. Change can be a good thing but it's not a dam necessity.

I don't think there will be a Borderlands 4. It would be on next gen consoles by then and the graphics and overall gameplay would look ancient. They haven't shown any ability to move with the times.

They more or less pioneered the type of game that it is, and each title has improved on the last. It's not about moving with the times. Changing your art direction and mechanics for the sake of being like whatever else is on the market only turns away your audience and caters to temporary fans at the same time.

They've maintained the art style despite the improvement in graphics each gen. The graphics don't have to excel, just feel like a borderlands game. Not everything needs to be super realistic to be appreciated. Even before I thought I'd like the series, as I'm kind of a recent convert to loving the series, I always thought the art style was awesome and always made me pay attention to it. I never realized it was a good game, or that it had a pretty decent story for what it is.

21 levels in....the game is a ton of fun. A good amount of improvements and more the stuff I like.

Gun variety is in between BL1&2 with a little extra thrown in.
