I liked their take on Gears 4 and this one is a must play for me. If you liked the first one then you owe it to yourself to play them all. It like being a fan of a movie series. You have to see them all to decide which ones in the series really stand out.

The game looks good but they should be able to ride birds around the map for a better view and more dynamic game play.

Or are the reviews for this game skewed the other way because it hasn’t done enough different to some for it to compare to the 94-91 rated original trilogy?
It’s sitting at an 85 on meta right now with no negative reviews and only 3 that are mixed. That’s a positive review score

Seems to be scoring between 8-9's across the board, with a couple higher, and a few lower. That seems about right for a Gears game since the first three, and it isn't the mark of a game that is bad, or could possibly go either way for an individual.

NarutoFox. ps4 has barely any 9's bro. Uncharted,God of War, and Bloodborne are the only games that are 90 or over unless you count remasters. Then its 4 or 5. Majority of ps exclusives are high 80's. chill out

It's kind of a strange one out there for reviews. Higher scores are loving the new open levels praising it for the exploration, while others are saying it's just an empty point A to point B drive with nothing to do.

Game Informer gave it an 8.5 and said the open levels are just point A to point B, but other reviews are saying there are multiple things to find like Jack upgrades, relic weapons, side missions, lore collectables that flesh out the story... Game Informer didnt even mention any of that in their review.

Maybe they rushed or something, who knows.

Yea that's a good point about the reviews. I know for me I like to explore and I always try and do all side missions in every game I play. Either way gears 5 is getting high scores and I cant wait to play it.

None of those games are considered 3rd person shooters. They are all action-adventures.

Gears is not an action-adventure. It is a pure 3rd person shooter.

Wait, you can argue it however you want, but Uncharted 4 is 100% a third-person shooter. But, even then, the core gameplay of every single other one is a TPS... it just has more to it. But, if they failed as TPS, they would have scored much poorer (though, I think some should have scored much poorer as it is).

The fact that it is a 'pure TPS' might also be why it scores lower. When other games have evolved to include more, perhaps that's what others expect?

Its an Xbox game you can usually add 1 of 2 to the final score to compensate for all the fanboy reviewers. I mean more than half the commenters in this thread are toxic about this game simply because its on xbox and no PS.

Actually the story is not that great from Gamespot. I believe that's the reason they gave it a 7. I knew that the multiplayer was going to be good but I had my doubts about the campaign.

Think the only review that matters is the one that a person makes when playing the game. I wouldn't ever take a reviewers opinion of the story to heart. They seem to be too jaded to try and say that something is a good story, or expect Hemingway levels of narrative to be considered good. I'm more along the lines of if it's as good as a good action flick, it's cool. If it surpasses that, then I just end up pleasantly satisfied.
