most likely 2019, but a 2018 release would be pleasant surprise.

SuperSaiyanGod412582d ago

I think either TLOU 2 or ghost of tsushima will be a 2018 release. One of these 2 will be released this year
Even if they don't I'm hoping at least Dreams comes out this year. Dreams is my most anticipated game.

KickSpinFilter2582d ago

I'm really scared of Dreams...If it's really good I could disappear for years into that game, and that terrifies me.

bloop2582d ago

As much as I'd like to agree with you, I don't think either TLOU:2 or Ghost will drop this year. If they announced a 2018 release date for TLOU:2 at E3 I'd literally scream like a little girl, but I can't see it happening.

SuperSaiyanGod412582d ago

Ghost of tsushima is more likely to drop this year. Only reason I say that is because it's been playable since the last psx and at that time it's been 3 and a half years sucker punch has been working on the game. The only reason Sony didn't show it off was they wanted to save it for a big event like e3. I'm hearing that all 4 games that Sony are going to take a deep dive into are going to blow people away just like when we first seen Spiderman.

This doesn't surprise me at all even though Sony has announced their cards for e3, I believe the gameplay will speak for itself and show why the hype is real for these 4 games. E3 can't come soon enough but I cannot effing wait to see gameplay of TLOU 2, death stranding and ghost of tsushima. I know it will make alot of people sh** their pants lol. Get your fanboy diapers ready to drool over some real triple a exclusives lol.

BiggerBoss2582d ago (Edited 2582d ago )

I honestly don't think either will release this year. Sony has done very well in releasing games during the Spring and Summer. They let the third parties and big multiplats handle the holidays.

DialgaMarine2582d ago (Edited 2582d ago )

Why so far off? I haven’t seen an Xbox logo anywhere for the game. :P

BiggerBoss2582d ago (Edited 2582d ago )

I know you're just trolling, but thinking about it, it's possibly that it might come out in spring 2020.

We know Days Gone and Ghost of Tsushima are coming next year, and Sony likes to let the big third parties and multiplats handle the holiday season. So it's possible.

But I sure hope it comes out in 2019.

rainslacker2582d ago

It could possibly be their early 2019 game. Some of their big games release around that time. Although I think they have another game they delayed that's releasing around that time.

BiggerBoss2582d ago

I think Days Gone will be the early 2019 game, with either TLOU 2 or Ghost of Tsushima coming out in spring/early summer

Double_O_Revan2582d ago

Exactly. Sony have claimed that Spring Release time for themselves the past few years. They let the 3rd parties fight out during the holiday time and they drop a big exclusive around March-April.

I can see LoU2 maybe hitting that apot next year.

BiggerBoss2582d ago (Edited 2582d ago )

Exactly my thoughts, but with a small possibly that TLOU 2 will be 2020. Depending on how far along Naughty Dog are, it's possible that Sony may let Days Gone and Ghost of Tsushima handle the Spring and Summer. And save TloU 2 until the next Spring

Don't get me wrong, I hope that TLOU 2 is 2019, but I'm prepared for the possibility that it's not.

Goldenhawk5212582d ago (Edited 2582d ago )

Just have the game release when it’s ready. A game that is early is to worry, while a game that is late leaves something great. Don’t set unrealistic expectations for your game or you will dissappint your audience when it releases unfinished. If it needs another couple years to finish, then thou shall continue to feast upon thy sea of ShitTonOfGames as I wait. I have already seen at least 10 delays from the gaming news as of the past 2 days. It has been Delay Central in N4G.

morganfell2582d ago

A 2018 drop might also be a reason why Day's Gone was unexpectedly pushed to 2019. And they are showing so much of it now instead of at E3. It would make sense that Sony does not want to compete against themselves.

KickSpinFilter2582d ago (Edited 2582d ago )

Days Gone developer said their game will be out before TLOU2, and DG is 2019
TLOU2 is gonna launch next to PS5 in 2020.

Ceaser98573612582d ago

It makes no sense to show a PS5 game during PS4 gen. The Last of us 2 is a PS4 title and its dropping next year.. So stop with the fake assumption.

BiggerBoss2582d ago

If, and only IF, TLOU 2 comes out in 2020, it will be in the Spring/Summer time. With Ps5 coming out during the holidays and an eventual TLOU 2 "enhanced" edition.

I know you're just trolling, but I think this might be a real possibility.

TGGJustin2582d ago

This game is not coming this year people. Heck the Days Gone guys said in the Game Informer coverage that they were launching before TLOU P2. Days Gone was delayed b/c Spider Man couldn't make the first half of the year. We aren't even seeing gameplay for the first time of this until E3. This game is next year at best and that's if it doesn't slip to 2020.

KickSpinFilter2582d ago

Exactly!
2020 next to launch of PS5...BOOOOOM!!!!!

Ceaser98573612582d ago

"Exactly!
2020 next to launch of PS5...BOOOOOM!!!!!"

NOPE!! 2019 is the Year for LOU 2 GOT and Days Gone
DS could slip to 2020

OB1Biker2582d ago (Edited 2582d ago )

Your spot on and theres nothing more to say about this stupid article. Why does this get approved in minutes but super interesting articles like another GI reveal on Days Gone gameplay remain in impending limbo for ages?
N4G needs to step up in the quality of the posts. It's depressing.

PavelBHunter2582d ago

A year ago: "The Last of Us 2 is Not Yet in Full Production"
2019 at earliest, that's my prediction.

BiggerBoss2582d ago

Absolutely, no chance it releases this year. Sony has Spider-Man for early Fall, and the third parties and big multiplats are already crowding the holidays.

KickSpinFilter2582d ago (Edited 2582d ago )

I’m not trolling at all.
Ya I’ve left room that TLOU2 could release early 2020 on PS4 with an enhanced version with the release of PS5 in late 2020. But I really do think we’re not gonna see TLOU2 until PS5 2020 launch
That gives Days Gone/ Ghost of T plenty of time in 2019. Also gives Sony to drop the Bomb of a PS5/ TLOU2 pounding to MS & Nintendo at launch. Then just maybe we see Death Stranding in March of 2021

You got downvotes by pathetic gamers for feeling hopeful about good games coming out next year. Imagine how small your brain must be to downvote someone excited for future gaming joy? It is pretty neat to see people's world view blow up in front of them as they realize Microsoft has put themselves in a driver's seat that Sony hasn't been able to touch all generation.... What's even more pathetic is the same people downvoting you are the same people wishlisting Microsoft games on their ps5s 😂

OtterX3h ago

Always with the "next year..."! 😂

neutralgamer19922h ago

I don't know they have delivered this year and even last year. And they have a lot more content in the pipeline right now than anyone else. We can't just keep hating on MS

Indiana Jones
South of midnight
Avowed
Flight simulator
Hell Blade 2
Minecraft update
Gears of war reloaded
Indian Jones:expansion
Gears E day
Clockwork revolution
Fable
Doom the dark ages
The outer worlds 2
Grounded 2
Call of duty

OtterX2h ago

How many of those titles were just buyouts of companies that were going about making their games anyways? *Throws cash - "Oh look what we made!"

dveio2h ago(Edited 2h ago)

This list, that's been posted again, and again, and again in every single topic like this, contains almost nothing, literally almost nothing from Microsoft's own creational thoughtprocess.

It's a bunch of former 3rd party IPs.

Now even slowly returning to Playstation in some cases like Indiana, Hellblade, probably Starfield soon too, after they were made exclusively to Xbox on purpose.

Due to Microsoft's lack for own IP material except Halo & Forza. Which, the lack of, was the sole reason for all of it to happen in the first place anyway. Please don't pretend it wasn't.

And just look at all the games that come from Obsidian alone.

You really think Obsidian wasn't already working on Avowed and South of Midnight even without Microsoft buying Zenimax?

Microsoft delivered nothing but cheques.

OtterX2h ago(Edited 2h ago)

@dveio THIS. Lol, this dude thinks Call of Duty wouldn't exist without Microsoft! smh 😂

neutralgamer19921h ago(Edited 1h ago)

Common narrative I see often — that Microsoft shouldn’t get credit for the games its studios release because they “just bought them.” But this viewpoint ignores key context and sets a double standard that other platform holders aren’t held to

No one is saying these games wouldn't exist at all without Microsoft. But let’s not pretend that having a trillion-dollar company backing a studio doesn’t make a massive difference. Obsidian never had AAA funding before the Xbox acquisition. Pillars of Eternity was crowdfunded, and their resources were always stretched thin. Now they’re working on Avowed, with proper support behind it.

Ninja Theory’s Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice was made by around 20 people, using borrowed equipment and doing mocap in a boardroom. It was a passion project held together by tape and willpower. Today, Hellblade II exists because they were given resources, time, and freedom — something many developers don’t get unless they’re owned by a company that believes in their vision.

ZeniMax (Bethesda’s parent company) was in real financial trouble before the Microsoft acquisition. Reports and insider accounts have pointed out how much they needed a cash infusion. And while some people want to write off Xbox’s ownership of Bethesda titles, they forget the alternative could have meant layoffs or even closures.

The same goes for Activision Blizzard. Would you really prefer the company to stay under Bobby Kotick, after all the documented workplace misconduct and toxic leadership issues? Say what you want about Microsoft, but their acquisition brought accountability and change to a company that desperately needed it.

At the same time, Xbox gets hated on for doing what every major company does. Sony bought Housemarque, Bluepoint, Insomniac — but no one says Spider-Man 2 “doesn’t count” because of that. Why does Xbox get treated differently for acquiring struggling or undervalued developers and giving them a chance to thrive?

And the idea that Xbox locks games away is outdated. They're pushing cross-platform releases, cloud gaming, Game Pass, and backward compatibility more than any other platform holder. They're not forcing all studios into live service. If anything, their upcoming lineup is less GAAS-heavy and more focused on narrative and creativity — Avowed, South of Midnight, Clockwork Revolution, Fable, Perfect Dark, Towerborne, and others show real variety.

Whether people like it or not, Xbox is now the biggest publisher in the industry and owns the most gaming IPs. But what matters more is how they treat their studios. Most of these teams were previously stuck making AA games with limited scope — now they’re getting the tools and support to aim higher.

So when people say “Microsoft didn’t make those games,” they’re missing the point. It’s not about who started the studio — it’s about who enabled them to do their best work. You don’t have to love Xbox to admit they’ve helped a lot of developers and are taking a player-first approach.

Instead of writing off everything they do, maybe try recognizing the good they’re doing for both devs and gamers. At the end of the day, we should want more studios to succeed — no matter who owns them

BeHunted58m ago

I'm surprised Clockwork Revolution (BioShock meets Dishonored) isn't getting more media attention. The game looks interesting and reminds me of the old RPG games.

anast30m ago

The only good game on that list is Flight sim. The rest are either average or will be average. It's not a good look for MS.

They going to be a he best and biggest publisher on Xbox, Playstation and PC next year. They not really said anything about Switch 2 though spite claiming to be big supporters.

quenomamen1h ago

If you call making one last Xbox before going full Sega, as Great. Then yea.
