Personally, i hated the platforming in GoW.. the meat of the game is in the fighting mechanics and story. If you’re gonna have jumping it needs to work extremely well like Uncharted or Tomb Raider

God of War Ascension revamped the magic system and combo mechanics and it turned out to have the best combo mechanics of the series yet.

It is like people are never aware that every GoW changes or adds something that enriches the gameplay with every installment. SSM does know their sh*t. This game will be even more proof of that

I’ve been playing the god of war 3 remaster on my ps4, i enjoy the platforming elements. If they got rid of the jump button and instead replaced it with a auto jump like AC, why wouldn’t there be concern? It’s changing up the game.

Actually, having trophies for games does prove objectivity and wisdom, seeing as it shows i have actually played the games i am talking about, and not pulling an opinion out of thin air since i never tried the games.

You see, not all of us suffer from console agoraphobia and close ourselves off to the world outside of our own favourite consoles, and enjoy branching out and trying new and different things so they can form an informed opinion on things. I don’t know if it’s financial issues, maybe your mom or dad weren’t able to afford another console for you, maybe they wouldn’t buy you another consoles because your grades weren’t good enough or it’s just blind loyalty to one brand that doesn’t allow the ability to try different things, but i really recommend it, instead of being a recluse.

Well for one, not having a jump button means there will be a lack of air combos, and there were some great juggling combos in the old games. Also maybe toned down on the platforming sections as well.

My guess is the axe will freely let us target high points on bosses/enemies/levels that we previously needed the jump button to do. So instead of jump square square square to hit a big guy’s upper body or head, we might just put a reticle over it with the right stick and square square square from there.

Thor’s hammer Mjolnir picks him up off the ground and lets him fly to other platforms in Marvel. I could see the axe doing that here, like a pseudo grappling hook minus a physical tether.

I will say that I really enjoyed the third game though because the story and puzzles were actually interesting. I'm totally on board with the changes and new direction of the series. Again, it's the opposite of copy and paste.

It's funny, me and the wife were just talking about this game when we were out eating earlier. She was sceptical (pissed) at the change of direction at the initial reveal (she loves all the old GOW games) but the more she's seen and the closer it gets the more excited she is. I just won't tell her about the lack of a jump button. Lol

I'm going in with an open mind, SSM are a solid team and Barlog is passionate about this project so I'm going to trust their vision and see what happens.

For the fans who wanted this to be like the traditional GOW game it's a warranted concern, but they should know by now it's a very different game.

For the fans who are open to the new style of gameplay, good because it's already established that this is not like the older GOW games. If you've seen the gameplay it's much slower and heavy, like a third person shooter. There would be no reason to jump when the gameplay is this focused and close-quartered.

Let gow be gow nd tlou be tlou...dont start saying because tlou was the best game ever created every game from sony should look and play the same...we need variety and variety is in gameplay not story...jumping saved me turns in gow and i can say its an integral part in the past gow games.....try playing the old gows without jump button....
So those who say tlou, tlou think before you want every game to be tlou...now if the devs have something in plan well and good..its fine as long as it works. But when long time gow fun are worried a bit understand them and not try to make everything tlou..we know its the best game blah blah ,but not every game should follow the same formula....

This is probably my most anticipated this year. I have preordered the collectors guide, the hardcover art book and the digital deluxe. With that said, the no jumping makes me say “wtf” as well. The rabid defense force in these comments attacking people because of their response to no jumping is pretty pathetic honestly. “Have you played it yet?! How do you know no jumping will suck”.

Have you all played it? How can you defend something with such passion and hatred when YOU haven’t played it either? No jumping is a huge change and while I’m not concerned, I understand the reactions because I know what comes with that. No platforming, no crazy air combos, he even mentioned no swimming, etc. Try to empathize with fans of the series instead of being a fanboy jerk in defense mode for no reason.
