Why are so many people playing PUBG on Xbox One?

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, or PUBG, has grown to over 3 million players on Xbox One, as well as passing 3 million concurrent players on PC. With the Battle Royale game bringing a new twist to first and third-person shooters, gamers want to soak up as much as they can.

It's a popular game on PC, no reason why it wouldn't be just as popular for console gamers.

This is the right answer.

GottaBjimmyb2290d ago (Edited 2290d ago )

I play because it is fun, pretty much the extent of it.

Haven't had this much actual fun playing a game since halo 3.

rainslacker2290d ago

Sometimes what is popular on PC, doesn't really become popular on consoles. When a major PC game comes to consoles, its success or failure is really up in the air. PC and console are really just different markets.

As far as why so many are playing it....I'd say its because it's something new. It has a lot of hype behind it, and like most things that have a runaway success, others want to see what it's all about. In the process, I'd imagine that it's found a new fan base on the X1. It's not really rocket science, and I doubt that it requires some in depth analysis from the media to try and figure it out.

letsa_go2290d ago

It is one of the only new xbox exclusive games out, they needed something to play!

looking at the complex, massive and exclusive games library teh bone has at its disposal, its amazing this game even has that player base at the moment. just looking at the sheer amount of choices teh xboners have, for this game to make this much of a dent is just astonishing and mind blowing.

Pubg is a popular game, the sooner people accept it the better.

Game will be also (surprise surprise) huge on Playstation 4.

blackout2290d ago

By the time this game comes to the PS4 it will be too late. Every game dev will implement this game mode into there game (Battlefield 2018, C.O.D 2018 as well as others). People will be moving on by the summer (E3).

KickSpinFilter2290d ago (Edited 2290d ago )

Oh I don't know about that. I'll be picking it up when it hits PS4, even if it's a year later. Tomb Raider when that was released on XB1, I was pretty sure I was not going to pick it up when it hit PS4. Inside I knew I wanted that as soon as I saw it. And a month later it came to PS4. I think it just depends on the game. Having a blast in COD WWII for now as far as FPS go. In a years time I'll be ready for PUBG on PS4. I bet there is so many people playing on XB1 cuz there is way to many cheaters on the PC. And it's a game.

GUTZnPAPERCUTZ2290d ago

Im not gonna lie... I love PUBG but if BATTLEFIELD came out with a Battle royal mode, I would die happy :D

MegamanXXX2290d ago

I actually agree with you on that

The_Sage2290d ago (Edited 2290d ago )

Maybe, blackout, but it could still have draw because it will be a full game when it comes to PS4 and not just a beta.

BadElf2290d ago

While I agree that others will follow suit, PUBG will be a thing for a while, even with other games doing their own version.

rainslacker2290d ago (Edited 2290d ago )

I think our right. BR modes will become commonplace in the coming years. Tends to happen with any popular take on new MP modes...or really any popular thing within any genre of gaming.

It's one reason that PUBG would be well suited to actually finish up an actual release of the game, and get going on PUBG2 to make it into an actual franchise that won't become "so last year", as gamers can move on pretty easily sometimes. The longer they stretch out the initial release, the more people are going to be looking for newer experiences, which actually may improve on the formula.

kevnb2289d ago (Edited 2289d ago )

i dont know about that, but the game just isn't quite right on xbox and it probably wont be much better on ps4. Its seen interest on xbox because the ip is very big, but it will probably just fade away.
Back on topic, how can a gamer be so foolish as to think other games implementing a battle royale mode will kill pubg? There is so much more that makes a shooter a success or not...

Sometimes a Battle Royal is full of people that are BAD COMPANY.....

DeadSilence... staysilence
About time it comes to ps4 it will just be adding bugs to the soup.

PFFT2290d ago

Having a blast on the Xbox One currently! And ill play it on the Ps4 and have a blast there as well when it launches!
I love PUBG!

steven83r2289d ago

It's not because it's popular that people are playing on X1. It's a lot cheaper to play on console considering an X1 cost a hell of a lot less than a damn good gaming PC.

leahcim2289d ago

Now I really doubt that the game will be on PS4, soon Microsoft will buy the game

"Why are so many people playing PUBG on Xbox One?"

Oh I don't know.... maybe because it is FUN! Despite the issues, people seem to be having fun with it and that is what should matter most.

ClanPsi12290d ago

It isn't fun, though. It isn't a good game.

Gazondaily2290d ago

Well there you have it guys. It's official. PubG is not fun and is not a good game. Pack your bags; we're off to play Hatsune Miku: Tentacle Schoolgirl Cuttlefish Megamix Edition Volume 18

Tankbusta402290d ago

Because it's fun? Getting to the final circle is about the most fun I've had in a video game in awhile.

gangsta_red2290d ago

It's the most stressful thing Ive experienced in gaming in a while. Running to the final circle, going prone and hoping no one saw you but then getting sniped anyways.

Good times!

TheMuffDiver2290d ago

HA HA HA very true!!! but that feeling when you get the the last kill for the chicken dinner!!! awesome.

GUTZnPAPERCUTZ2290d ago

100% right, reminds me coming from COD and playing BF4 with 64 players for the first time... BORDERLINE ANXIETY ATTACK lol

Tankbusta402290d ago (Edited 2290d ago )

Meh no need to feel stress! I have more second places than first. Its all fun in the end! But I agree when you make it to the final circle and you have a few people left and no idea where they are at...I sit there if I have a ton of bandages and hope the timer runs out and I can win!

hit173882290d ago

Or the getting hit by a god damn car when there is only 5 people left and your the only one not in a car smh .. I still play it daily lol
