Shout outs
They're showing PC gamers love . .

If they've ever wanted to get PC gamers to use the Windows Store
They'll need more exclusives like this . .
Great news.

segamaniaco29d ago

They cant get exclusives for pc and for xbox, they should unify all their games

But in the case of age of empires they better not do crossplay (if they intended to release on xbox, but they wont)

Sonic_Vs_Mario30d ago

I hope Xbox achievements aren't too challenging though....

thorstein29d ago

I wonder/ hope for VR mode. Too sweet that would be.

Age of Empires is my favorite PC game series of all time so I'm really excited for this but also a bit cautious as Ensemble Studios doesn't exist anymore after Microsoft disbanded them after they forced them to make Halo Wars.

I'm hoping this game actually feels like true Age of Empires and not some gimmicky knock-off bush league wannabe game.

Please do this right Microsoft.

I wonder what age they are doing?

Aren't they getting ahead of themselves? The first one isn't even out until October!

ShadowWolf71230d ago

No need to fret on that front, my dude. Age of Empires is one of THE biggest RTS games out there, and it's consistently been quality.

These games are worth buying again!

The 10th Rider30d ago (Edited 30d ago )

Every single one of them!

DARK_WOLF29d ago (Edited 29d ago )

I was so hoping they would release these on xbox one aswell. Waited for the big surprise and let down yet again.

I thought games were going both ways but no. PC exclusive.

Makes NO SENSE! xbox is starving for games.

UGH SO SICK of being let down by MS.

Love the look of the new xbox console tho..

The 10th Rider29d ago

RTS's have typically translated very poorly to consoles.

DARK_WOLF29d ago

Not always. Supreme commander and halo wars are easy as to play.

ONESHOTV229d ago

DARK_WOLF-- those are super dumb down man a normal PC gamer could play that on the hardest difficulty with ease now I would like to see a console gamer play AOE 3 with a controller or even a mouse and on its hardest difficulty

letsa_go29d ago

Can't you connect a mouse and keyboard to the xbox one anyway?

Oh my gosh YEEEEEEEES!!!

This is like a dream come true for RTS fans: Definitive editions of Age of Empires 1, 2 and 3 AND a new game in the series!!!

When I said I'd love a new game in the series, some people commented (*cough*EDMIX*cough*) and said it wouldn't happen or wouldn't be be good because Ensemble was closed down . . . Relic Entertainment is about the BEST out there to handle a fourth game in the series!

Makes perfect sense for Gamescom to, they love games like AoE and Civilization over in Germany. This is literally all I wanted out of Gamescom. I'll have to build a thousand priest units to sing praises to the AoE gods, lol. "Wololo!"

VideoGameLab29d ago

Yep, PC Gaming is the biggest in germany.

Millard30d ago (Edited 30d ago )

They also announced definitive editions of AoE 1, 2 and 3. I hope Age 4 is set in the past and not a modern setting like WW1 or 2. Anyway, huge news and very happy.

Alexious30d ago

AoE 1 Definitive Edition had already been announced, but they confirmed that it will be out in October.

ShadowWolf71230d ago

Honestly, they could set in in the period leading up to WWI or WWII. That was the end of the Age of Empires, really. They all sort of collapsed after that.

The 10th Rider30d ago

Yeah, honestly 1800s/early 1900s could be pretty sweet. There was the American Civil War, the Barbary wars, Spanish American Wars, the Russo-Persian war, Napoleonic Wars, the Crimean War, the wars for the unification of Germany, the War of 1812, the Zulu wars, the Opium war, etc . . .

The 1800's all the way up to just prior to WW1 would be a fantastic setting.

An old piece of art for the series once showed a potential 4th and 5th game: http://bligoo.com/media/use...

Although I'd prefer they keep the 4th game a little earlier, I have confidence in Relic to handle WW1 or WW2 since they made Company of Heroes. Although I'd prefer it being set in an ancient or medieval time period, the fact that they're remastering all the old games certainly helps scratch that itch.
