CoD WWII Isn't Historically Accurate & Continues To Prove It Doesn't Care About Historical Accuracy

CoD WW2 recently released new information on the game that continues to prove they don't care about historical accuracy in the slightest.

When they revealed the game they repeated historically accurate more times than I could count. Then they turn around & remove Nazi symbols & place black women as Nazi soldiers. Sorry, but that isn't historically accurate. Don't try to claim it is if it isn't

ziggurcat2485d ago

"Then they turn around & remove Nazi symbols & place black women as Nazi soldiers."

is that the single player campaign or multiplayer?

yarbie10002485d ago

It's in the game they claimed was historically accurate

ziggurcat2485d ago (Edited 2485d ago )

Single player or multiplayer, though? Because if it's just in the MP side of the game, who cares.

Soulst0rmer2485d ago

not going for historical accuracy doesn't really help tell a compelling story in that era. The thing is World War II was a horrific War and to basically give it that theme and try to stay in that Universe a change it to fit a PC Center culture does nothing. Imagine how impactful it would be the play a soldier who discovers a concentration camp for the first time and sees the horrific Acts that happened there. Or to play as a prisoner and really understand things that the Germans were doing. Yeah it's all fun to kill Nazis but these aren't even Nazis in this game anymore they're just animated pixels set on a mediocre backdrop. This kinda reminds me of the crap win 7 Days in Fallujah got shut down because it was considered too taboo. Tell a story and make an impact in somebody's life for once. Hell even Valiant Hearts from Ubisoft was brilliant and that was animated in the framework engine

Gentleman_Steam2485d ago

Doesn't it matter?
That's like saying it's okay, their only half lying.

Redemption-642485d ago

@ziggurcat
It's in MP, i see nothing wrong with this, i mean they have zombies, but these guys are not complaining about that in the MP, they are complaining about the devs giving people the choice to play which gender or ethnicity want. The devs of BF1 made similar claims, yet they added weapons that did not even exist during that time, yet i don't recall seeing an article like this. You can add zombies, monsters, aliens, magic, plus more and people will be ok with that, but add a choice for other gamers to choice gender or ethnicity and you will have a problem.

Exoil2484d ago

I would have hoped they´d had the balls to let us play as jew nazis, something more historically accurate than black nazis.

BadElf2484d ago

Who cares about the MP? That's what I would play the longest, and the atmosphere/feeling of the MP is very important. I wouldn't have wanted World at War to have Women running around, it just takes away from the feel. If they really need to push their PC agenda for their other CoDs...fine...if thats what they HAVE to do. But in a "historically accurate" Ww2 game, it's gotta feel like....WW2

ShadowWolf7122484d ago

Good thing the Multiplayer isn't telling the story then, huh?

You're absolutely right. By the way, I love Stoya.

joab7772485d ago

It's the new world we live in. And I fear that it's worse than what we think. This is just a video game, but it's happening everywhere, and the scary result is a rewriting of history. Don't think this isn't being done on purpose! And it isn't anything new, just disguised in a new manner.

MrCrabPuss2484d ago

Zing! right over your head. You're just not getting the whole picture are you? Stay in school.

showtimefolks2484d ago (Edited 2484d ago )

It's a fake not history class other games such as battlefield 1 were historical accurate but were fun

It's gaming meant as entertainment just enjoy it and if you want history lessons read books or watch history Channel

People are impossible to please, of it was 100% accurate than same people would complain that it's not fun and this was suppose to be a game not history lesson

Activision isn't targeting us as core gamers they are going after the casual market of gamers who only buy madden fifa and cod

Blueraven3162484d ago

I'm pretty sure the black women were part of the multiplayer. You can't be that dumb not to know that

VideoGamesAreDumb2484d ago

Holy shit! Now we're complaining about historical accuracy for a game with a zombie mode?

+ Show (6) more repliesLast reply 2484d ago
pinkcrocodile752485d ago

So its a move from historical accuracy to historical horseshit?

Someone needs punching in at Activision if this ends up as the game.

Nothing wrong with Nazi imagery in WWII games, they, just like the Japanese were c**ts during the War. So to show the Japanese, Italians or German Soldiers accurately dressed including the swastika is important and accurate.

Anything else is just horseshit

Nesflix2485d ago

I don't get it, man. Historical accuracy was what made Call of Duty so great in the past. My old man fell in love with Call of Duty 1 back in the day. We put in COUNTLESS hours mowing down Nazis in both SP and MP respectively.

ShadowWolf7122484d ago

You do know that's in the campaign, yes?

pinkcrocodile752484d ago

@ShadowWolf712 Your point is? Sorry am I missing your point?

Liqu1d2485d ago

That isn't a Browning A12 shotgun. It's the Walther Toggle Action Shotgun. The fact that it's paired with a German pistol should have been a big hint it's not an American weapon.

http://forums.gunboards.com...

The entrenching tool depicted is accurate to the time period and E-Tools were still used in WW2. It's a US M43 E-Tool. I'm not sure why you intentionally used an image of a modern design.

Video of it: https://www.youtube.com/wat...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wi...

You're also wrong about the Lewis Gun not being used in WW2. Even though the Bren replaced it for infantry use and the Vickers K replaced it for airborne use, the Lewis Gun still saw use during WW2. The Lewis was withdrawn from British service in 1946.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wi...

The MG15 was used during WW2. It could also be equipped for infantry use.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wi...

Gentleman_Steam2485d ago

There were serval Machineguns holding the MG15 designation. The Bergman MG15, The MG15 "saddlebags" up top the MG 15, the ripoff maxim design

Also the Wather toggle lock wouldn't have been adopted by the Germans cuz they refuse to use Shotguns. The damage was seen as Brutish and repulsive. In WW1 they couldn't repair shotgun blasts like they could gunshot wounds. A stigma they held through WW2. Pretty sure there's even a clause in the Geneva Convention that's says you can't use a deer slug, or shot on people in war.

Grante dthe Germans where okay with shrapnel rounds so...

Not to mention the Walther toggle lock would have been a prototype. Which probably never would have made it to Combat. Hitler's Almost dashed the Sturmgewehr .44 design cuz he thought it was ugly. It wasn't only cuz someone asked for a trial package that it got mass produced for the SS.

Besides Toggle locks would have long been phased out for their multitude of issues. The Luger only stuck around as a fashion statement practically. The Walther p38 and several other designed took it over. It was basically a trophy more over.

The Trench shovel wasn't used to kill people. It never said it wasn't used. BF1 makes it look like any close quarters Battle employed trench shovels. People only used them in some battles cuz nothing else was handy. Like you an a German going fist-a-cuff and he grabs a shovel to get an edge.

So it's still correct the CoD is just using Buzz words to make more shitty spray-and-pray games. Their just one trick ponies.

LoveSpuds2485d ago

Agreed, a lot of the points he picked out were nonsense, just another windbag with a website spewing nonsense onto the web.

bumbleforce2485d ago

Are they censoring it in single player to? If so that's bs. Also why are they going so pc now and not with all the other ww2 games that came before

BadElf2484d ago

Because back then, they didn't care about SJWs. Then SJWs went rampant, and for some reason..game companies have to now worry about them? Because 10 people might get "offended"(they really arent, they just like causing trouble), the other 1 Million gamers that arent offended have to deal with the garabage.

They're so childish. This world is just filled with offended, Liberal, PC folks.

NarooN2484d ago

You talk about getting offended, yet you and almost everybody else in this article are triggered over something that doesn't matter at all lol. CoD MP has never been about historical accuracy. It's always been a mindless arcade shooter with the WW2 backdrop simply there for thematic consistency as an excuse for all the fragging going on. Yet people these days just feel the need to get their digital pitchforks at the ready any chance they get to cry about having "m-muh SJW pandering" shoved down their throats. Society is so fucked lol.

pinkcrocodile752484d ago

Social justices like gay rights and justice for all ethnicities is right. But denying the swastika existed in WWII is not justice, it's the opposite, it's denying the Nazi party ever existed.

On our local war memorial it has inscribed "Lest we forget" and that's right. We should never forget the atrocities made during WWII so that we never do it again.

Social Justice and Accurate History are two different things and you should remember that!

ShadowWolf7122484d ago

No, they're not "censoring" the campaign.

Nesflix2485d ago

None of this bothers me. Using experimental weapons is okay in my opinion. Battlefield 1 did it and I absolutely LOVE that game.

What DOES piss me off is the removal of swastikas from the MP as well as the addition of black female/male playable characters as Nazis in MP. The "but it's MP bro" argument is invalid as the developer went on and on about accuracy in the game. Leave it to Activision AND Sledgehammer to ruin what could've been a GREAT WWII shooter and a return to what made Call of Duty so incredible to begin with. Michael Condrey is a political sellout for the sake of liberal ideology and inclusion. It's HISTORY.

Mgsilentfate112485d ago

I teach 7th Grade History and English. I was really looking forward to using this game as a connecting tool for students and history. I guess the lesson will have to be on historical accuracy in media and the importance of validating sources. I will still be able to wreck all those kids though.

XbladeTeddy2485d ago

Why? Just make them watch Saving Private Ryan and be done with it. Tom Hanks won the war it's all they need to know.

Nesflix2485d ago (Edited 2485d ago )

Instead, you'll have to constantly correct their history when they ask about the completely kitted out MP40s with red dot sights and LED flashlight attachments, painted with bacon camouflage. Historically accurate? I think so.

Please, for the love of God and history, steer them away from liberal ideology. Western civilization depends on it.

OC_MurphysLaw2485d ago

"I teach 7th Grade History and English. I was really looking forward to using this game as a connecting tool for students and history."

So you were going to use an M-Rated game with your 7th grade class as a connecting tool? Brilliant... How about you just make your teaching approach more interesting as I am sure most parents would probably prefer that. Pretty sure you can teach this content easily without the aid of a video game....

XMarkstheSpot2485d ago

I know its long but Band of Brothers

2484d ago
MrCrabPuss2484d ago

"....will have to be on historical accuracy in media and the importance of validating sources." Good call focusing on these points! Kids need this more than ever these days.

At least 50% of people are shitty at their jobs; sounds to me like you're doing it right.

Mgsilentfate112484d ago

To Dlacy13g, I use video games, movies and other medium to make connections to what we read. For example, I use the book "Milkweed" by Jerry Spinelli in class. In the exposition we are set in Warsaw, Poland during August of 1939. In September, planes drop bombs and artillery are fired upon the city. Kids with no understanding of the era will picture modern jets instead of JU 87 Stukas, equipped with the Jericho Horn. I want to be able to point out the sounds of the prop plane, and the horrifying sound of the horn as the plane descends upon its victim below. A picture is worth a thousand words, I just need to make sure each student understands how those figurative 1000 words are connected to the image or media before them. Trust me, I know that no game can teach things like Dr. Mengele, death camps, and true war, but I love tools that try, as close as possible.

Kratos_Kart20072485d ago

so let me guess this straight...Having black women and men in the MP for Nazis will ruin the game play???

Nesflix2485d ago (Edited 2485d ago )

*Will ruin the immersion of the game. Yes, believe it or not, some of us like immersion in MP regardless of the setting.

Remember when the other side argued that games were silly, stupid and served no positive outlook for gamers? We counter argued saying, in many cases, video games could actually teach us a lot. I remember those days. Now it's "you're triggered" and "it's just a game bro".

Redemption-642484d ago

@Nesflix
If its going to ruin the game for you, here is hint, don't get it. It's MP, they have Zombies, i don't see anyone complaining about that.

franwex2484d ago

I mean, how immerse do you need to be in a Zombie mini game? You're already killing the undead. Does it matter that much to you if they are black? Like you cannot get past that and enjoy the game play?

ginganinja2484d ago

"the developer went on and on about accuracy in the game"
Where ?
Where have they ever suggested they were going for historical accuracy in the multi-player ?

ShadowWolf7122484d ago

They can't handle the idea that they were referring to the campaign. To them it has to mean the MP too.

MP, by its very nature, cannot be historically accurate. Simply cannot.

What's amusing to me though is how Battlefield 1 did a lot of this same stuff and not only got a pass, but changing history was ENCOURAGED there.

Nesflix2482d ago

I'm sorry. Please show me where they specified it WASN'T in the multiplayer. Good luck trying to find it. They were obviously talking about the game they're developing. Even if they mentioned that their MP wouldn't be historically accurate I'd STILL have a problem with it. What difference does it make if they did or didn't? If you're saying you're trying to develop a game that is as historically accurate as possible, it's safe for people to include MP in that. Why would we not? They didn't specify.

Including indies I’ve bought like more than 20 games, good deals all around.

P_Bomb996d ago

I’ve overindulged too! Gonna pump the brakes on this next round. Unless there’s a PS+ discount. Need a cheap sub for my kid so I’m not always changing primaries.

solideagle995d ago (Edited 995d ago )

could you please suggest good indie games (which are on sale)? I love JRPGs or action RPGs but I can play almost any genre e.g. Transistor is £3.74 which I think is a steal :)

shinoff2183995d ago

Check out earthlock. Its pretty good

Old school jrpg try cosmic star heroine I really like that one

Aloymetal995d ago

Disco elysium, man eater, inside, limbo
Dead cells, observer, to name a few

LoveSpuds995d ago

Don't sleep on Darkest Dungeon, Child of Morta or Spiritfarer.

Although it won't be on sale, the best indie I have ever played is release in a week or so, it may be 20 quid but you have to play Hades.

GhostofHorizon996d ago

Told my partner to stop me from browsing. We'll see how that goes, the first part of the sale already got me.

ElvisHuxley996d ago (Edited 996d ago )

Anthem 85% off? Thought they went free to play. Has the game gotten any better?
Edit-Nvm, it's Europe anyway.

Hellcat2020996d ago

The second phase of sales is for all regions
It's just not yet showing up in the ps store

Servbot41996d ago

They abandoned Anthem. Typical EA.

CobraKai995d ago

I can’t believe they’re still trying to sell it

BioShockGX995d ago

Got Anthem for $5 last year. Not a bad game for that price lol

ElvisHuxley994d ago

Appreciate the downvotes folks. I guess merely asking a question bothers the incredibly mature users here.

anast996d ago

I might finally go for Black Desert. I've been playing ESO (without MTing my characters) for some throw away entertainment, but the combat is so "#$&&%.

Servbot41996d ago

BDO sucks. Only good for the character creator.

anast995d ago

Is the combat worth it?

Phoenixryu995d ago

I tried BDO a few months ago. It's a decent game but I got bored of it pretty quickly. Combat is very action-based, it's fun but very repetitive. There are a lot of menus and most of the in-game systems are a bit more complicated than they needed to be. Some game modes won't let you buy and sell certain items until you convert to a different mode etc. Basically, the game is kind of convoluted.

phoenixwing995d ago

The mobs barely react in bdo. You can kill half of a mob of enemies before they'll even attack. You'll basically be grinding mobs until you can fight a boss that will even react well. Don't recommend it

anast994d ago

Thanks. Is there an alternative to ESO?

phoenixwing994d ago

@anast I'd recommend playing the single player version of es if you haven't exhausted your playthroughs

EvertonFC995d ago

Highly recommend the "metro saga bundle" £25 all 3 games and all DLC plus free upgrade for ps5 exodus 😊
