CoD WWII Isn't Historically Accurate & Continues To Prove It Doesn't Care About Historical Accuracy

CoD WW2 recently released new information on the game that continues to prove they don't care about historical accuracy in the slightest.

not going for historical accuracy doesn't really help tell a compelling story in that era. The thing is World War II was a horrific War and to basically give it that theme and try to stay in that Universe a change it to fit a PC Center culture does nothing. Imagine how impactful it would be the play a soldier who discovers a concentration camp for the first time and sees the horrific Acts that happened there. Or to play as a prisoner and really understand things that the Germans were doing. Yeah it's all fun to kill Nazis but these aren't even Nazis in this game anymore they're just animated pixels set on a mediocre backdrop. This kinda reminds me of the crap win 7 Days in Fallujah got shut down because it was considered too taboo. Tell a story and make an impact in somebody's life for once. Hell even Valiant Hearts from Ubisoft was brilliant and that was animated in the framework engine

It's in MP, i see nothing wrong with this, i mean they have zombies, but these guys are not complaining about that in the MP, they are complaining about the devs giving people the choice to play which gender or ethnicity want. The devs of BF1 made similar claims, yet they added weapons that did not even exist during that time, yet i don't recall seeing an article like this. You can add zombies, monsters, aliens, magic, plus more and people will be ok with that, but add a choice for other gamers to choice gender or ethnicity and you will have a problem.

Who cares about the MP? That's what I would play the longest, and the atmosphere/feeling of the MP is very important. I wouldn't have wanted World at War to have Women running around, it just takes away from the feel. Nothing wrong with Nazi imagery in WWII games, they, just like the Japanese were c**ts during the War. So to show the Japanese, Italians or German Soldiers accurately dressed including the swastika is important and accurate.

That isn't a Browning A12 shotgun. It's the Walther Toggle Action Shotgun. The fact that it's paired with a German pistol should have been a big hint it's not an American weapon.

The entrenching tool depicted is accurate to the time period and E-Tools were still used in WW2. It's a US M43 E-Tool. I'm not sure why you intentionally used an image of a modern design.

You're also wrong about the Lewis Gun not being used in WW2. Even though the Bren replaced it for infantry use and the Vickers K replaced it for airborne use, the Lewis Gun still saw use during WW2. The Lewis was withdrawn from British service in 1946.

Also the Wather toggle lock wouldn't have been adopted by the Germans cuz they refuse to use Shotguns. The damage was seen as Brutish and repulsive. In WW1 they couldn't repair shotgun blasts like they could gunshot wounds. A stigma they held through WW2. To Dlacy13g, I use video games, movies and other medium to make connections to what we read. For example, I use the book "Milkweed" by Jerry Spinelli in class. In the exposition we are set in Warsaw, Poland during August of 1939. In September, planes drop bombs and artillery are fired upon the city. Kids with no understanding of the era will picture modern jets instead of JU 87 Stukas, equipped with the Jericho Horn. I want to be able to point out the sounds of the prop plane, and the horrifying sound of the horn as the plane descends upon its victim below. A picture is worth a thousand words, I just need to make sure each student understands how those figurative 1000 words are connected to the image or media before them. Trust me, I know that no game can teach things like Dr. Mengele, death camps, and true war, but I love tools that try, as close as possible.

Honestly i think people are stupid, has anyone ever stop to think why both game and movie companies always release a US trailer and an international trailer? The laws/rules and regulations are different, so depending on were the trailer is supposed to air, certain things must either be added or removed. In this case Activition decided to use just one trailer for both domestic and international, in which case, something like the swastikas have to be removed for it to air in a place like Germany or Activition would to have make another trailer just for that region. The Swastika will more than likely be in the final game, but people should MAYBE try to understand things a little better, before making claims.
Also If the devs giving people the choice to play which gender or ethnicity they want in MP going to ruin the game for you, here is hint, don't get the game. It's MP, they have Zombies, i don't see anyone complaining about that. the single player can be historically accurate, but the MP allows for more customization. If seeing other players online customizing their player to fit their teats ruins the game for you, get a different game.

Okay so quick retraction.

The shot gun in the video is a walther toggle-locking shock gun. The Browning A12 mistake was a point of mistaken identity. You have me dead to rights in that one.

However the Walther toggle lock was a prototype weapon and probably never saw mass service. I can find any record of it so.

There were Trench shovels in era that folded the Germans made on in 1938, and the Americans copied it in 1943. British had a version too. So I was wrong on that as well. Point being Trench warfare was still mostly phased out in the traditional sense. I doubt very few Shovels were used as weapons in WW2 so the Historical accuracy point still stands. BF1 had More reason to include shovels. Even though most of WW1 was spent sitting in a muddy trench, cold and starving to death.

I would like to apologize, as the author, for my oversight on these two points.

Meh, imo if you gonna use a certain setting u should stay true to the setting.
The reason for this is just historical accuracy, the symbol was an important part of that regime and therefore should not be lost. The reason to remove certain elements cause they have a negative image, will just make us 1 step come closer to a regime we try to purge from our history.
