im expecting something similar to Uncharted, open world areas, for exploration

skydragoonityx2926d ago

Glad to hear this, surely don't need an unnecessary open world

Goldby2926d ago

ya i've actually been turned off of open world games recently, they all feel the same somewhat, and the first 20% is always the best part, and i always find that the last portion is the least focused, depends more on the player sticking with the story than the world showing what has actually happened because of the story

KwietStorm_BLM2925d ago

What is an unnecessary open world?

GottaBjimmyb2925d ago

Yea, god of war has never had open worlds, it wouldn't even make sejse for them to make it that now. Glad they didn't go that route.

scark922925d ago

Open area games are great when done right, like dishonored, STALKER, or Batman AA! We need more of them if anything.

EatCrow2925d ago

Prey is pretty good there too but yea dishonored takes the cake.

Fazraza2925d ago (Edited 2925d ago )

Open world games these days just aren't that appealing to me anymore, I used to love them when I was a teenager, but now I'm almost 26 and I've just lost interest in the big huge time consuming open worlds of today, even GTAV bored me after a few hours and I never expected that, the best kind of game for me is a game that is mostly linear but allows backtracking throughout a more open hub-like world, like bioshock, the souls games and the original silent hill and resident evil games, games that give you freedom to explore and revisit old areas with new items to be able to unlock secret rooms and explore secret areas that might even lead to secret bosses.

Sm30002925d ago

Dude, become unemployed, duh. A true gamer would do it

scark922925d ago (Edited 2925d ago )

With the exception of Grand Theft Auto V, because there is great detail in that world (what you do in the world is boring however, I agree), many open world games lack detail, with open area games, large amounts of work and detail can be put into the world than can allow the gamer become immersed into the universe. Uncharted 4 is a great example.

KingKionic 2926d ago

I hope Kratos loses weight this guy is packing pounds on him.

This game is like Old man Logan in wolverine.

uptownsoul2926d ago

@KionicWarlord222

If all you can complain about is Kratos' weight, then the game is in GREAT shape

KingKionic 2926d ago

Well that and how they have changed the pace of the combat seems much slower then god of war 3.

The weird father and son story too kinda weakens Kratos down a lot with more empathy then the ending of God of war 3 with you feeling for Pandora.

Kratos looking tired intentionally and training his son to be a god in this game makes me think there gonna kill him.

AspiringProGenji2926d ago (Edited 2926d ago )

The new gameplay pace reflects Krato's new development, and it is still fast paced. Are People still stuck in the E3 2016 showing? The nee trailer showed a como based and fast combat. He even still do the tornado attacks with the axe

bluefox7552925d ago

@KionicWarlord222 Ironically, you attempting to troll the game is making it sound more appealing.

Ceaser98573612925d ago

Happens when you dont listen to devs interview and assume things and spread hate and lies... SHAME! when people assume things with zero knowledge...

theres weight, and theres mucsles.

Kratos if anything could pack on a few pounds of fat to help insulate him in the cold. hes all mucsle.
No need for a super suit for this guy

AspiringProGenji2926d ago (Edited 2926d ago )

^when the untrollable can't be trolled

Rimeskeem2926d ago

Well the movie is arguably one of the best super hero films ever and the best in the wolverines series. So what you are saying is the this GoW will be the best yet?

biblesosus2925d ago

I kind of got a Logan feel from what I've seen of the game so far too.

scark922925d ago

"And Kratos cast himself away from biggest gym in all of Greece. After 10 years of suffering, 10 years of endless nightmares,..."

OMGitzThatGuy2925d ago

You didn't know? This is God of War: Last of Us Edition. All PS4 1st party titles here on out are going to be slow, highly cinematic, highly scripted games that are not really fun to play. BUT THAT STORY THO. 10/10

Sm30002925d ago

Better than nothing, which ironically, is exactly what xb currently has

UnHoly_One2925d ago

That's pretty much what I'm thinking.

They seem intent on making all of their games variations on the same thing, where they are 75% movie, and "all about the feels".

I don't get it. I like a good story and all, but put it in a game that is still fun to play.

TLOU was garbage from a gameplay perspective, but everyone hugged it's nuts so hard they decided they needed to make every game just like it. It really aggravates me.

Ceaser98573612925d ago

kionicewarlord.. i understand you never played GOW game and have zero idea about Kratos...

no surprise... this gen has been 'almost' a total wash for Sony. They has been shifting games to 26. Probably to pad out the eventual release of the PS6, which is also rumored for 26/27.

Obscure_Observer11d ago

"They has been shifting games to 26. Probably to pad out the eventual release of the PS6, which is also rumored for 26/27"

Maybe their first crossgen game between PS6 and PS5?

I´m also expecting Cory´s new game to be crossgen at this point, while GT8 to be their first true next gen only game at launch.

neutralgamer19929d ago

Obscure

Everything will be cross generations. There won't be many games which will be just next generation only. As we move forward tech isn't going to give a huge jump when it comes to consoles. So why cut off part of your install base whom are easier consumers to target

We still see games being released on PS4. Sony might be looking at finishing strong going into PS6 with a lot of momentum. In 2026/2027

ND new IP
Sony santa Monica 2 games
Sucker punch 2nd team
Insomniac games wolverine and ratchet and clank

At launch of PS6 we may see Spiderman 3 day one with the console

Eonjay10d ago

How can this game be postponed if it was never announced to be launching in 2025? It hasn't been announced at all in fact.

Mmmkay10d ago

ps6 has never been rumored for 26. lol. where do you get your 'facts' ? this gow game has not been announced either so no one expected a release in 25.

generic-user-name10d ago

I'll be surprised if PS6 is out before 2028, gens get longer and longer and they've no need to rush it with most of their first party yet to reveal their PS5 titles.

MIDGETonSTILTS1710d ago

How can an unannounced game be delayed?

Jin_Sakai10d ago

Because maybe that was their internal target?

Ganif10d ago

Exactly...

Even if this game exists it obviously never had a 2025 release date since we're halfway through the year and it hasn't even been announced yet.

CrimsonWing6910d ago

Man, I wish we could go back to the hood ol’ days of God of War. I totally understand the craft and talent that went into the modern version, but I found them incredibly boring. I love the spectacle and unapologetic visceral and energy of the originals. They were shocking, brutal, and completely bad-ass. Wish we could get back to those days.

gold_drake10d ago (Edited 10d ago )

mhh i dunno, i like the old games, but they were rly just one note.

still very fun tho

Toecutter0010d ago (Edited 10d ago )

Hate to break it to you, but we've already had, like, seven GoW games set in Greek mythology. Did you mean Egyptian mythology...in your headline?

gold_drake10d ago

i was about to say this exact thing haha

FernDiggidy10d ago (Edited 10d ago )

wait wait wait wait. Greek Mythology? wtf? Why are why are we going back?

edit: Supposedly it's a spinoff and its metriodvania style????? SIGN ME UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And not in a good way! GOW 2018 was not what I was expecting either, and it blew me away! However this is like a popcorn fart in church.

Elda25d ago

I wouldn't mind playing that, I'm guessing somewhat in the vein of Prince Of Persia:TLC but hopefully with better graphics.

RaidenBlack25d ago

Which 2.5D tho?
I think its a top down perspective game.

PassNextquestion25d ago

2.5D can be done in many different ways. It could be as simple as a size scrolling game with 3D backgrounds

Nebaku25d ago

Well it says "Metroidvania". I think you can derive which kind of 2.5D from that.

ravens5225d ago

🤔 Interesting. Nothing wrong with switching it up to a different genre of game for a side project. Hope they don't try to do that to a main entry.

jznrpg25d ago

This sounds very interesting. I love a good Metroidvania.

Deathdeliverer25d ago

Actually sounds good as hell in my imagination. Definitely interested.
