Microsoft supports both their Windows 10 PC and Windows 10 console platforms exclusively with the exception of Minecraft which is on multiple platforms. The app on my PC is actually labeled "Xbox". Why is it some people try to separate the two so hard?

@death-I understand the desperation of trying to spin things to make it seem as if it's one platform at the end of the day the PC and the Xbox are two different platforms.

To my understanding you don't even need to go to the Windows store for some of Microsoft's games now they're putting them on Steam so even that argument is becoming invalid.

At the end of the day a platform has nothing to do with ownership. The PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation 4 are two different platforms, Sony owning both of them is irrelevant to them being two different platforms.

So the last of us is multi-platform, the term multi-platform has nothing to do with the ownership of the actual game itself. When somebody's asking if a game is on multiple platforms , they're not asking if one publisher created the game because that is irrelevant to the question and moot.

That's like asking if Mass Effect is multi-platform and my response is " its Electronic Arts exclusive."

Who is asking about the ownership? They're simply asking is it on multiple platforms....

By default of the term Microsoft's games going forward are multi-platform.

I understand you're trying your best to have damage control but this is just kind of getting beyond ridiculous and stupid.

You guys backed the wrong horse this generation at the end of the day this company Hoodwinked you into buying this system because you thought games would be "exclusive" to it only for them to turn around and make them multi-platform.

That's like getting a streaming service with the belief that all the shows were exclusive to the service only to find out there all appearing on a service you already own, what would be the point of keeping a service that's giving you the exact same thing you could get somewhere else?

Gaming is about games and at the end of the day if the content is literally appearing somewhere else begs the question what is the point of owning an Xbox one right now?

They don't see reason to make games ONLY on XB because its once again selling less then PS.

So basically XB has NEVER been able to move more units then Playstation and I think MS is calling it quits on making exclusives for XB. 16 years in the game...they could not beat Playstation so it tells me they can't keep losing money, they need to just call it a day and make games on PC.

How they see it, those games staying on XB isn't going to have them beat Playstation, they've tried it...failed, thus makes sense for them to just put them on PC.

That works for MS, but Sony and Nintendo have no ode to make games on PC, they have no OS to really justify such a move.....they move units enough to where that really isn't needed.

Sony and Nintendo by default will have more exclusives, but MS always had less anyway, now they have none.

Not to be a bubble burster, but technically Sony only makes timed exclusives since they stream their games on PC with their really expensive streaming service. I guess neither Microsoft or Sony could cut it by your definition and are going to be PC only.

LOL, don't be silly! PS Now doesn't mean it's releasing on PC, they are still actually being developed for PS4, there's no Windows code in the game to be found.

Whereas with an Xbox console exclusive they actually create TWO different executables, one for the console, the other for Windows. And no, if they use UWP it still doesn't mean it's the same damn executable, they ARE different. Plus they need to add different things and optimisations for both.
They ARE two DIFFERENT programs for all intends and purposes, this also means they are TWO different platforms since they aren't the same darn thing at all.

For PS4 they are still all written for PS4, and they actually run on Sony's own hardware not on the PC's where the game is being streamed to either.

And if you really want to continue calling it "coming to PC" then I have news for you: Nintendo games are then also always coming to PC eventually, through emulators.... And am sure a Switch emulator will be made one day as well...

@death-yes in those streamed games would technically be multi-platform because they're available on another platform your point? Sony still by default actually still has the most exclusives outside of those streaming games so it's actually not going to matter as much as you think. From the sounds of it I'm not even sure so he's even going to release their top games on that service until the generation is over so they could preserve their PlayStation 4 sales.

On a side note I'm not even sure the service is even doing well enough for them to put their top properties on there anyway.

The denial is strong is some of you. So a game has to be coded to the device to be considered multiplat now? I would think the fact you can play it else where would be the deciding factor. So essentially having access to the game and playing it is not the issue, it's specific coding. So PC is an extention of PlayStation when you are playing PlayStation games on it and they are still exclusive to Playstation even though you are experiencing the exact same game on your PC, but if it's an Xbox game on Windows 10 PC under the Xbox app, it's multiplatform.

if you think that the age of exclusives is coming to an end think again. the latest spiderman trailer has already gotten more than 20 milion views when combining multiple youtube videos (only marvel's upload and MathChief - Gameplay & Trailers!'s upload alone have almost 19 milion views together). the only game that i have seen beat him in views is origins (although spider man trailer has the most views on a single video, even more than super mario)
