I would say 500 at the most.

mikeslemonade2593d ago

Should and will cost $400. It's on the same timeline curve with PS4 Pro. Considering it's a year later but twice the power. The like price for the gpu at the time the PS4 pro came out was $250. The like price for the Scorpio's GPU I can buy used for $250. And by the time it comes out in 6 months it's gonna be right at that $250 mark.

alb18992593d ago

You are wrong in so many levels.....

conanlifts2593d ago (Edited 2593d ago )

You will need a 1070 to keep up with scorpio on pc. Pretty sure that is more than $250.
Scorpio will likely be priced at $499, which will be a bargain for the tech inside.

JOHN_DOH2593d ago

Isn't just a polaris chip with a jaguar cpu? They just overclocked the shitt out of it. (free performance) If they had to use a vapor chamber cooler than it must get pretty hot. They should make it easy to clean the dust or put some removable dust filters on it. They probably had use to a good quality power supply(high efficiency=less heat) which would add to the cost.

Captain_Tom2593d ago

Twice?!

Not even 50% stronger. It's 46% stronger, and it doesn't have games.

I agree it can't cost more than $399. If they were serious it would cost $349.

badz1492593d ago (Edited 2593d ago )

twice the power? LOL that right there is a Xbox fanboys wet dream

mikeslemonade2593d ago (Edited 2593d ago )

Going by teraflops it is twice the speed in regards the gpu. And 980ti would be $250 used right now. It's only not $250 because nvidia doesn't drop the price when they retire the card. The 1070 is actually a bit stronger.

Actually I will admit for once I'm around. It's 6 teraflops vs 4.2 teraflops for ps pro. However that strengthens my argument. If ps pro is 60% stronger than itself that would be within range of a 980ti power. And as I said before the 980ti can be had for $300 now and $250 when it comes out.

mikeslemonade2593d ago

Can't wait for the official price to say I told you so. I'm gonna post every single comment that I said it was gonna be $400. It's just real simple.

PS4 Pro $400. GPU is 4.2 Tera flops. GTX970 at 4 Teraflops was $250 when the pro launched.

Scorpio will be $400. The scorpio's gpu is 6 Teraflops. The gtx 980ti with 6.1 Teraflops right now can be had for around $300 the only reason it may be more expensive is because NVidia doesn't make their cards cheaper when they retire them. Hence the 970 wasn't retired yet when Pro came out. Fast forward 6 months later that would make the gtx 980ti in line with the $250 value.

andrewsquall2593d ago

@mikeslemonade Exactly. They WILL take the hit on it. I agree 100%. But don't worry mate, wait for all the Xbots to say "haha yous all thought it was going to be 700" when we are saying right here and now it WILL be 399.99. They simply cannot afford to make it any more expensive.

Oh and screw that "no games" and "PS4 has all the games" crap too. The fact of the matter I always say about Xbox is, the games it has simply are not good enough to purchase one. Don't care for Halo, Forza or Gears. Recore, Sunset Overdrive, Quantum Break are certainly not reasons to buy one either, even if they ran at 8K resolution.
The Xbone was always an underwhelming console in specs and capabilities this gen, another reason to avoid. Unfortunately, this will still be the thing holding back Scorpio too. The customers already know who they are. After all, they bought an underpowered ddr3 console 4 years ago for €500 with a camera that was leeching an additional 10% of the console's already meager capabilities.
If they bought that, they will buy ANYTHING with the Microsoft name on it (except the Zune lol).

399.99, after THAT spec reveal, you heard it here and now.

conanlifts2593d ago

I wasn't clear with my response. On paper then yes you are correct regarding your 980ti comments. What i meant was that due to console efficiencies, better optimisation etc you would need a 1070 on a pc to compete with scorpio.

IGiveHugs2NakedWomen2593d ago

Why do people keep saying $399 or $400? I know everyone posting in this thread has seen the Digital Foundry video and the guy clearly states "This console will cost more than PS4 Pro."

http://www.eurogamer.net/ar...
"Project Scorpio is aimed at a very different user to prospective Xbox One S owners, making this coverage potentially less impactful to sales of the existing device. These days, Xbox One has skewed towards value, while Scorpio will be a piece of hardware with a premium price-point. My sense is that the price differential will be fairly wide and that there'll be less crossover in the audience than there is with PS4 and Pro."

mikeslemonade2593d ago (Edited 2593d ago )

That Xbox wouldn't be really a console. It would fall in line with those steam boxes and small form factor PCs specifically for gaming. It can't be the expensive in order to sell million +.

I looked at comparable hardware prices. The CPU is $120, gpu is $250, ram is $70, hdd is $30. But Microsoft can condense everything down to $500 cost with everything. Basically it's CPU and gpu that is most of the cost.

PS Pro is the same price and same power given the timeline factor. It came out earlier but weaker, scorpio comes out later by one year but stronger. It's the same cost as components go down. PS Pro gpu is actually slightly more impressive if you look at the timeline element.

Prince_TFK2592d ago

Even if the price for the Scorpio used gpu cost $250 you still have to factor in other components such as cpu, controller, ram, hard drive, and other manufacturering costs. It is ignorant to compare a total package to just one gpu (a used one that is, and not even strong as Scorpio's gpu).

When I thought they were going to use the latest AMD chips, I was thinking $600 min. Now that I see the magic in what they were able to do by modifying existing chip sets, I think they can now offer it between $400-$500. This is an amazing accomplishment, and I like it better than what I thought they were going to offer. Gives all of this power while using less power. Very, very efficient and should translate to a surprisingly small form factor.

Captain_Tom2593d ago

I mean we knew the specs a year ago. Nothing has changed. It was always going to cost $399.

Bigpappy2593d ago (Edited 2593d ago )

You are the only one who looked at those pecs and knew it was going to cost $399. You are my hero. Even now with everyone, except you of course, knowing the actual components, they are still saying it will be no less than $500. Not even DF still aren't saying $399. They should have spoken to you last year and would have to go through all the trouble of having a reveal telling the world Scorpio can do way more than its specs suggest.

Nu2593d ago

$300 would definitely help it close that massive gap against the PS4.

Aenea2593d ago

If they really want to close that gap they should give them away for free!

300 is not gonna happen, way too low.

xfiles20992593d ago

If it is going to cost 500 then I must say it is not much of a premium product like they claim. 500 is not a premium price tag

2593d ago
QUIMICOMORTAL2593d ago

At the most? 500 is the best case scenario!

For 5 rupees I'd rather buy a goat and a couple of my favorite Aamir Khan DVDs

Dude I'd make a cheese factory and mass produce quesadillas with your logic /s

Nu2593d ago

Every Rupee is the equivalent of $100 so 5 rupees = $500. Sounds legit to me.

It will be $499 and Microsoft will be taking a little loss on that price.

TFJWM2593d ago

Then they would sell it for $549 there is no way they are going to take a loss on each system. Anyone who would buy it for 500 would pay the extra 50...

mikeslemonade2593d ago

$500 is break even. You console gamers don't know hardware.

vegasgamerdawg2593d ago

Except MS has sold every console at a loss or with no profit. Look stuff up.

TFJWM2593d ago (Edited 2593d ago )

@mikeslemonade You have no idea what their break even is...And I am a PC gamer...I have a 4k gaming rig, my living room media computer is stronger than xbox one or the ps4...(edit:I just consider myself a gamer not PC or console, thou I game more on PC than anything else)

@vegasgamerdawg maybe before the xbox one that was true but both Sony and MS made a small profit on each system this gen. So ya you need to look stuff up...

mikeslemonade2593d ago (Edited 2593d ago )

TF

Likely my gpu is better than yours. Technically a vanilla 980 can play 4k.

980ti is 6.1 teraflops and the Scorpio is 6 teraflops. 980ti is worth $250 now probably to produce. That leaves you off with $250 for everything else which sounds about right. That processor probably in the $150 range. And then everything else can be had for $100. Yea it is break even. And fast forward 6 months it's for certain break even. If I'm even close now what do you think 6 months will do??

TFJWM2593d ago

@mikeslemonade Once again you are just guessing at their cost of production. My point was that they wont sell it for a loss so if its break even is just $10 more than the $500 you figure then they will jump the price to $550.

"Likely my gpu is better than yours. Technically a vanilla 980 can play 4k."

I just built this one last black friday maybe you can let me know if its any good since I am just a console gamer...
i7-6700k, 1080, Z170A, 32 DDR4 3000

I can pop in another 1080 I guess just seems like alittle overkill atm

$199 xb1 500gb /$249 xb1 s 1tb/ $399 Xbox 1 BM(beast mode) 1tb

tyasia02593d ago

Yeah, that's a good name they should call it "The Xbox BM".

GuruStarr782593d ago

$400.

Any more than that would make it DOA.

Brettman20082593d ago

Agree with U.S. $400. That is the sweet spot. PS4, PS4 Pro and Psvr all launched at that price.

seanpitt232593d ago (Edited 2593d ago )

Yeah it's got very expensive parts compared to the pro and it's alot more expensive to manufacture, it's a bigger GPU and more gddr5 memory and it's got a expensive cooling system than the pro and even a 4K blueray player.

Sony couldn't afford to put the 4K blueray player in the pro for it to come in at the sweet spot of $399 and they make the blueray so it would be even cheaper for Sony but they couldn't do it, and you guys are saying it's going to the $399 for the Scorpio gets some common sense people.

It's going to be a minimum of $499 priced for adults who wants that extra power and if you think it's to expensive they will just say they have the xone one at $249 as a entry point for our gaming experience.

Even Phil Spencer said they don't expect it to sell aswell as the xbox one I think this tells you its going to be expensive, the only reason this will not sell is due to the cost which alot of people will want it but can't afford it.
