Nintendo NX: AAA Titles And Failed Expectations

The day Nintendo sit something out is the day gaming goes downhill you really want just Sony and Microsoft as the only options they'll have a monopoly and do what they want when they want with you besides they don't offer anything all that different to each other between the two systems hence why games can easily come out on both. Nintendo all day any day if only for the ideas and amazing games they produce so they don't sell iPhone levels of systems but when did they did NES clear 100 million? No, SNES? no. N64/GameCube..... Nooo, none of them got anywhere near, it's only really Sony that get anywhere near those levels of sales with the hardware but does that make them better consoles? Sure ps1/2/4 some of the grestest consoles ever but all of Nintendos have been great even Sega did a couple of great systems. Didn't sell much at all but still great consoles.
Nintendo have only ever sold 100 million consoles with one console.. Wii was it their best console? No chance had some great games (Mario Galaxy/skyward sword/smash bros) but was probably their weekest console by far it did well because it was cheap as chips and came with a free game then just dance arrived and Wii fit. Yay!!

It's not all about the sales. It's about the games and the company behind it if it's a good company who consistently produce gaming greatness (just check some all time top 100 games you'll see a lot of them) then I'll always have time for it at some point. It's good to be different I don't want to be a sheep or a hit man style slap head with a barcode.

Unfortunately, to get that "gaming greatness", you have to wrestle with silly gimmicks and poor hardware (for at least the last decade or so), just not worth the sacrifices. Star Fox Zero is a great example of a potentially good game ruined by gimmicks. It's a testament to the fact that Nintendo never really could justify the usefulness of the gamepad, no matter how much they tried to shoehorn it into their games. The same problem exists with the original Wii and the 3DS; the gimmicks they were built around degraded the gaming experience, rather than enhancing it. Other examples of those attempts: Kirby's Rainbow Curse, Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival, and Mario Party 10, all of which were mediocre games at best.

Nintendo have been building up NX forever?! They've barely mentioned it. I think I've heard it officially mentioned what twice... 3 times maybe, yeah they are building that up for sure ;(
E3 and onwards will be the build up they've said its not happening at E3 so they must be planning some Nintendo directs as they do 3/4 a year. Then they'll start pushing it towards late Christmas and starting into the new year.

They should simply do a joint business with Sony. Releasing Nintendo games for PS4 and forth and do the handheld business. Sony Home Console, BigN Handheld. Sony releases games for Nintendo handhelds and BigN releasing games for Sony PlayStation in addition to adding games for their own business. Absolute domination on console & handheld market.

I'd love to see that happen too. Even if they only open up PS consoles to stream all of the old Nintendo games (I'd imagine that would make PS Now subs skyrocket) or if they would only release NX games on Sony consoles a year after release, it'd make Nintendo & Sony boatloads of money in the long run.

Nintendo games won't sell to the same crowd that only owns a PS4.
They're too busy playing chav fodder AAA multiplats, sports games, and Call of Duty/BF to give a damn about games like Super Mario 3D World, which they view as kiddy trash that isn't worth picking up.
There's no room for Nintendo's kinds of games on a system where any realistic-looking game with an M stamped on its box, from companies like EA and Ubisoft, reign supreme over all-ages titles.

Mario needs to stay away from Sony, for his own health.

Nintendo basically "revealed" the NX two years ago, Iwata brought it up at that time. They just haven’t given an iota of information about it, other than that it is a "brand new concept". They must be scared that Sony and MS would copy their next gimmick, I guess.

There's no confirmed specs and only a tentative release date of March of next year with a few games.
That's not a reveal, that's a teaser.

Im a fan of nintendo first parties just like anyone else, but to tell gamers in the beg they would have third party support and a zelda game was flat out lying to the consumer. Now they have pushed zelda back twice and no metroid game? I would have been totally fine with a remastered metroid prime series.. But no they gave us 2 zelda games no one asked for.. I guess you cant please everyone.

In my opinion nintendo has been flying under the radar since the gamecube with every nintendo console since getting further and further than what ive grown to love about them since the nes days. I was a total nintendo fanboy with the nes, snes, n64, and gc. At least then i still put them above all other game making companies. When the 7th gen launched i went with sony and have had many more great gaming memories than with the wii or wiiu. Im glad the wiiu is going down as the worst nintendo console.

The wii was a pos and i didnt think they could possibly do any worse... Man was i wrong!

Nintendo is the laughing stalk of the gaming community and should be ashamed of theirselves.

The nx needs to do so much to make up lost ground not only in the mass of gamers minds, but in the shadows of its competition.

They should stick to making handheld devices, amiibos, and kitty smart phone games... The console market now belongs to sony.

I hope the nx doesnt fail, but judging on the last 10 years... The future looks bleak

They had third parties that first year, but no one bought into bad ports so third parties tucked tail and ran.
Nintendo didn't force them to leave; third parties made that decision after their own mistakes made sticking with the system unprofitable.
Not having a unique Zelda and Metroid was still painful, but to say that no one asked for WW and TP HD is just false; there were plenty who wanted them.

No, unfortunately you're trying to point fingers at everyone else but Nintendo for the failure of the Wii U (as usual).

The reality is that most gamers didn't buy into Nintendo's gimmicky, substandard hardware, which couldn't even match consoles that came out 7 years before it (360 and PS3). And the Wii U was beyond unable to compete with the current generation consoles (PS4 and XB1), so it was really doomed from the beginning.

One should not have to beg and wish that a game console they are looking forward to gets a large diverse library. It should come naturally. The company who created that console is responsible for seeing that it happens not the customer. That's why I'm getting a PS5 when it arrives and I will stick with the PS4 until then.

I want the nx to be successful speaking as a former nintendo fanboy gone to ps land. I just dont know if they can pull it off. But if anyone can make up lost ground its nintendo. They know they have to bring something amazing, and affordable. If they can do those two things it will be game on!

I don't do wresting and I don't do gimmicks Nintendo got me covered. You mentioned barely 1 proper game Star fox Zero, couldn't agree more but Kirby was awesome not as good as the DS original but it's not. Gimmick it's just different Kirby DS where you guide him was awesome. Canvas Curse? Or whatever they called it. Gimmicks come and go in months they don't stick around for 5-10 years.

Animal crossing Amiibo festival was always gonna be rubbish, Mario Party 10? Went downhill after 5 they not even that great good for a Quick blast but digital board games... No thanks. More games than Xbox one has currently so what it had a year or so head start Xbox have had plenty of time to catch up and nowhere close.
