This is how Dragonball looks like in Unreal Engine 4

Someone is apparently developing a Dragonball game in Unreal Engine 4.

Given that there's no environmental damage have to say: so what?

Get that this is someone's tech demo but still.

porkChop3351d ago

And the water is just two semi-transparent flat textures moving in opposite directions. With how easy it is to develop using Unreal Engine 4, this is not impressive at all.

N4GDgAPc3351d ago

@porkChop
With how easy it's to develop for unreal? I like to see u do what he did so far. I bet it will be nothing like that and even crap. It's not easy to develop for unreal.

I definitely wouldn't take your advice on making a game.

I'm not saying what he did is amazing but I can appreciate what he did himself. U know unreal requires programming right? And u tell me that's easy?

porkChop3351d ago

Actually, yes, I do know a bit about developing with Unreal Engine 4.

Before my journalism course I took a game development course where we worked with Unreal and Unity. Programming, modelling, texturing, animation, level design, etc. Unreal is often used for teaching because of how much simpler it is to use and learn. Compared to some other engines, a lot of things are built-in and might as well be automatic. And due to the popularity of Unreal, the web is filled with countless tutorials that can teach you how to do pretty much anything. There's a reason that so many developers have used Unreal.

Now I'm not saying I'm great at game development, but from what I do know I don't think this demo is impressive. If people disagree with that it's fine.

Let me me guess u use Blueprints visual scripting? There is a limit to that and tell me when u get into c++ programming which developers use. And no game is developed using blueprints. His special effects weren't to bad and had beginning stages of AI which by itself starting out in AI can get very confusing. Especially if u go more complex. U make it sound like they hand u this software and it's easy to develop anything.

And I disagree with u. I think unity is easier to learn compared to unreal 4. There is a a lot more video tutorials to help u out compared to unreal 4. Also there is an Asset store that has a lot of stuff to help u with your development of a game. Not just assets people make but amazing scripts that pretty much do the job for u. U just need to learn that script. And from what u said u took a course. Trust me there is a lot more into development than what u learn at school.

@shloobmm3
And that's why u can call it easy. U didn't develop that content. Now it's fine u can tinker away and use assets others made since u are just doing it for fun. Also u say it's easy but really that can change for what type of game your going to make.

PS4 already 2 years old, It's about time these Unreal Engine peddlers show actual Japanese UE4 game for 2016.

Hopefully there would be new games announced at Unreal Fest 2016 Osaka

Ok PorkChop prove that you can do better and make something then. Show us what you have learned with UE.. Ill wait.

@nowitzki2004

That is some piss-poor logic you've got there. According to your logic, in order to critique a song you must be a masterful musician. In order to know a good car from a bad one, you need to be an expert mechanical engineer. Didn't think that burger you ate last night was all that great? No, shut up, you're not a gourmet chef so you don't know what you're talking about.

Do you understand how ridiculous that sounds?

I never claimed to be the greatest developer ever, in my post I clearly said I wasn't amazing at it. That does not detract from the fact that what this person did in this demo was not impressive to me. I don't need to be John Carmack or somebody from Naughty Dog to be able to say I don't find something impressive.

nowitzki20043349d ago

Ive messed around with UE4 its easy, still time consuming and still got a lot to do. Its easy to discredit this like its nothing but its not easy to make this like you stated.

Disregarding environmental damage, every single one of these videos "this is what x looks like in unreal" have looked absolutely terrible. What these people don't understand is that putting a cartoony style character into a "realistic" looking environment doesn't suddenly make them look good. It clashes and looks even worse.

N4GDgAPc3350d ago

I don't know if I ever seen someone try to make a cartoon/anime shader for unreal 4. I'm sure it takes some shader programing to make it work.

I can't Fap to this!

WeAreLegion3351d ago

Is it really that difficult to use the English language?

Booggeyman3351d ago

When you're not a native speaker it sometimes is, yes.

WeAreLegion3351d ago

Are you not a native speaker?

Deadpooled3351d ago

Maybe he/she needs a power level over 9000?

Booggeyman3350d ago

Nope, not a native speaker I'm afraid.

Exvalos3351d ago

Budokai looks better then this trash

sullynathan3351d ago

Looks pretty good. I would like this brawler open world style over a fighting game.

TWB3351d ago

Tbh, I always thought the fan made DBZ games were quite awful. This doesnt do much to change my oppinion.

UltraNova3350d ago

Yeah...even though I can appreciate this guy's effort, no environmental damage in any DB game is a no no.

Wow! That is badass. WB needs to make this happen now.

Right? Thanks for checking it out!

Minute Man 7211507d ago

Fans??? This is done by one person

WoodsRatesGames1506d ago

Someone else was commissioned to do the music and another person modelled the batmobile. Links to all involved are included in the article.

Gaming4Life19811507d ago

They should have been made a batman game for the best batman movie. This looks amazing and now I must watch the movie.

Am I crazy or is there an Unreal Engine 5 now? Why promote old tech?

waverider1527d ago

I really dont understand either? isnt the Unreal Engine 5 already available for studios? arent they already working with it?

masterfox1527d ago

UE5 Is for PS5 only, deal with it! :D

***runs away from this thread with pride!**

Tacoboto1527d ago

UE5 is not released yet and developers for years will still make UE4 games because that's where their tools and customizations are.

Mortal Kombat still uses UE3. Mass Effect Legendary Edition is also still UE3.

Magog1527d ago

That more of an embarrassing indictment of those devs than a reason to promote old software.

Tacoboto1527d ago

Embarrassing indictment? You know nothing of software development then.

Spenok1527d ago (Edited 1527d ago )

Because a ridiculous amount of the industry still uses 4, and because no, 5 is not out yet. They said it would launch later this year.

AuraAbjure1527d ago

Companies still use Unreal Engine 3.

Really impressive tech but I don’t even notice all of these benefits in real life, never mind being chased by zombies in a video game. Rather devote resources to resolution and frame rate.

Magog1527d ago

If you suddenly stopped casting reflections in a mirror I think you would notice.

Amplitude1527d ago (Edited 1527d ago )

Edit: i misread this.

Einhander19711525d ago

Yes after seeing the Unreal 5 ps5 reveal, I thought that's where we were heading. But saying that I have read various articles that suggest its easy for developers to still work on Unreal 4 and carry everything over to Unreal 5 when needed, we shall see.
