Xbox One Has A Lot Of Very Good Games But It’s Still Missing That Definitive Exclusive

It's true the Last of Us is just the top of the league in its own genre.

However, at the same time there's nothing like Halo on Sony's console either. Halo 5 didn't get the best ratings only because past Halo campaigns (Bungie's) were brilliant. So when you see very critical reviews it's because the game was being compared to its former self, not just other games on the market. This is something new IP's inherently don't have to worry about. Of course it has many flaws too but it makes up for them with the features it provides.

I mean just think about it. Halo has a full 4 player campaign with a universe so deep there are a dozen books you have to read to keep up with the story. It offers wide open sandbox levels in a market full of linear fps games. It has one of the most competitive and giant multiplayer mode out there. It's one of the only fps' to offer PvPvE.

And the customization options are unbelievable. You can literally make your own maps, script objects, change weather, customize gravity, customize speed, create your own gametypes, and share with the community.

It also blend on-foot and vehicle combat beautifully, better than any other game I know (battlefield also does it really well but it's much different).

All of this in one package is something I can't find in any other game right now.

New installments are supposed improve and build upon previous games. Halo 5 was a major step backwards, lacking so much compared to previous Halo games.

Very few playlists and game modes available at launch, a terrible campaign, limited customization options for armor, emblems, etc, theater mode still doesn't work for campaign like it did in the past, horrible maps, horrible UI, They are adding some of these things as free updates which is good, but they really should have been available at launch.

Right now I don't believe Halo 5 is a must own for Xbox.

Destiny is adobes Halo. Destiny is like Halo but also very different. It first matter that Sony doesn't own it because they get tons of exclusive content for it.

You can argue that it may not have lived up to the hype but it wasn't a step backwards. For the things you mentioned, it also took many step forwards. Solid 60fps, Warzone with 12v12 and PvPvE for the time first time, not enough launch maps but a they've been giving at least one non-forge maps every month, warzone firefight is coming, and the forge customization are insane if you've seen the community videos. You can make scripts, you can change weather, you can use a hugee budget, you can add terrain, and the whole system has just been refined significantly.

That's all arguable though, my only point was that regardless, there's still nothing like Halo 5 out there right now.

Destiny is great but it's nothing like Halo multiplayer. It doesn't have vehicles like mechs, tanks, and banshees in halo. The multiplayer is a basic 6v6, you can't make your own maps, you can't customize your own gametypes, you can't have giant 12v12 battles, and competitiveness is not on the same scale. Halo is part of MLG for a reason.

* I own an XB1 and a majority of the games don't really appeal to me like the games on Original Xbox & 360 did.

I expected better by now but there are a lot of average and bland gaming experiences on the XB1.

I think the best is still on it's way, but regardless of 3rd party or 1st, the selection of games for XB1 is weak compared to last gen.

* Even the sports games, which were amazing last gen are lacking this gen, and that was something you could always count on.

* Everyone got so obsessed with graphics that the gameplay and fun aspect of games has taken a dip.

* One of the reasons I still love my Wii U. Yea 3rd party support is awful, but the Nintendo made games are all of high quality and retain their fun for years after release.

* I think post E3 2016 is when things get better for the XB1 though. Still some really good games on the way, but I thought there would be more by now.

I haven't played Rise of the Tomb Raider, but if it was a full exclusive, I imagine that would be one.

I'd say out of all those FH2 is the must have IMO. It's the only game I wish I had an Xbox for. Maybe I'll get lucky and FH3 will come to PC. One can hope anyway lol

So far this gen for all the games that have came out, not counting Quantum Break as I have not play it yet and any Remasters, my top 10 list of console exclusive games I like in order are these:

6. Forza Horizon 2
7. MLB the Show 16
8. Ori
9. Mario Kart 8
10. Until Dawn

I'll get allot of down votes for this but at least I'm honest. Im a gamer first (I have all current and last gen consoles) Xbox fan second. With that said my favourite game this gen so far is Bloodborne. But since online takes up most of my time It's games like Halo 5, and KI with constant updates that make Xbox my go to system. Hell even Sunset Overdrive and Ryse had some decent online components. Throw in Gears and Titanfall (never played Forza so can't comment on that).

Actually I've played my xbox one more then any console this gen or last gen. I've never had such a variety of amazing games which are mostly the best any console can offer.

Actually I think this article is backward, I have only enjoyed 2 ps4 games this gen whereas the rest are worse then their xbox counterparts in my opinion. The last time I played ps4 was when until dawn released last year.

Quantum Break and Sunset Overdrive were the two system sellers for me and I think both have lived up to their considerable hype.

They're not what I'd call true 'killer apps' though, far from it actually.. hard to even say what the last game in that category would be.

QB was the game I was going to buy an Xbox for, now Im not so sure. Before you jump down my throat, I still want it, if I had an Xbox already I would buy it no problem, but buy a console for it? Thats what Im still deciding as the game doesnt seem as good as I hoped it would be.

There are a half a dozen games I would like to play if I had one, but none of them on their own are worth the cost of a console. But i guess I'll bite the bullet soon, no one buys a machine just for one game, theres a ready made library, its just easier when theres a must have title that you cant go without.

The same could be said for PS4 of course. Early adopters made their choice at the beginning of the generation which machine was going to be their primary console and which library they were going to invest the most in. What were talking about now is which machine has a game to convince someone who has the other machine to buy a second console? Probably neither to be fair.

XB has FH2 is youre a big racing fan. PS4 has Bloodborne if youre into the Souls series although thats a bit moot now with DS3 out. I would say Uncharted 4 is must play for anyone but if you werent a fan of the others you probably wont be now. Finding just one game to define a console is always going to be hard.

I'm in the exact same boat. QB was going to be the system seller for me too, but what I've seen from it w/ my own two eyes more than the actual reviews themselves isn't quite enough to push me to pick an XBO up specifically for it.

Honestly there's no single title for the PS4 released yet that would've pushed me to even pick that up, but I had to for UC4 alone...because I have one I've been able to play stuff like Infamous & Until Dawn & The Order and I dug all of those to varying degrees then there's been a handful of third party stuff and indies that have kept me busy, but UC4 is the one that sold me on it, and all of the rest this year like R&C, Horizon, TLG, NMS, etc. will all make for a really cool year for sure.

I imagine the same would ring true for big fans of games like Halo on the XBO side, but I'm an sp campaign guy so as long as UC4 delivers even a similar experience to what I had last gen in terms of quality, I'm happy with it.

Well, Halo 5 probably is the biggest exclusive. Then maybe Forza and once Gears 4 comes out then that will be. Tomb Raider 2 could fit in there partially somewhere I guess too...despite it being available on Windows.

Personally, nothing on Sony's side interests me except for The Last of Us. It's quite clear that is their flagship title.

Let's be honest here. No matter how good or awesome an Xbox One exclusive is, it's going to be unfairly reviewed before it even gets played. There's no way that there could be any non biased review with as big a difference as the ones released for Quantum Break. From 4/10 to 10/10. If you're hungry for clicks, just say you're hungry. On Xbox one I feel that since launch its giving me great games like DeadRising 3 and even up until last year playing Halo 5, TombRaider what a pair of fantastic games. Today playing Quantum Break shows Xbox One is gearing up to leave this generation with a great mark. If a defining game has to be over 90% then gaming is at a sad state because in my opinion I have played some gems with under 90% scores in reviews.

I guess this comes down to personal taste on how you view a AAA title or basically, a good game. I've actually found more enjoyment playing some of MS's indie titles than their exclusives but that's because of personal taste not me thumbing my nose. I'm not into racing games anymore or the Halo universe, fighting games, Dead Rising and so on. Ryse was good for what it offered and MP was kinda cool but MS have yet too put that KILLER stamp on a game. I thought QB would've done that but from what I've played it hasn't but I am looking forward to Gears.

I don't know. Xbone just really needs to find its identity and stop relying on past franchises to carry them, which Sony does as well but I have yet too be " wowed " by anything yet on their console.
