I hope this version have better framerates and less screentearing. Because on Xbox One it was horrible in some areas.

Shuckylad3048d ago

Gsync and freesync are your friend.

Izalith3048d ago (Edited 3048d ago )

That I know. But I get disagrees to state the truth about the X1 edition of Tomb Raider, in which I have. It have those issues in my experience with the game, just google it.
N4g cant stand people that are critical to a certain console it seems.

Volkama3048d ago

You got disagrees because your comment was kinda dumb. Of course the PC version will have better frame rates, assuming you have better hardware.

sullynathan3048d ago

@volkama not always true, sometimes PC gets crap console ports.

Volkama3048d ago

@sullynathan Yeah I read the Arkham Knight stories too. Then played it at 60fps.

boodi3048d ago (Edited 3048d ago )

Judging on you comments history , you are VERY CLEARLY a paid basher or a troll ( ps4 bias )
. so just , in both case , please f@@@ off w your ( paid basher'.. or free troll ) comments .

starchild3048d ago (Edited 3048d ago )

@sullynathan

In my opinion that whole thing is WAY overblown and is mainly spread by people with weak PCs and unreasonable expectations, as well as console fanboys that want to downplay the PC.

I haven't had any real issues running any PC game. Even games like Assassin's Creed Unity, while clearly not optimally optimized, still ran pretty well on my PC. Certainly much better than had I bought it for my console.

@izalith

Of course it won't have screen tearing on PC once you turn on vsync. Framerate will depend on your hardware.

dantesparda3047d ago

I guess a certain fanbase has a serious issue with the truth

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Shows a lot frame drops and tearing, Im not saying its horrible, but the facts are the facts. and I own the game btw.

You put the obvious power difference between Xbox1 and PC out there and then you are demanding a serious response. It's not your disagreers how wave a problem

Azzanation3048d ago

@Izalith
Iv played the game though twice and I will be picking up the PC version just because the game is so good.

I haven't notice any bad frame drops or screen tearing like your claiming. If there is any its barely noticeable.

FYI - The PC version will be the best version regardless, even after it hits the PS4. All areas of the game will be improved. Your comment is just as bad as this one - If only UC4 was on PC so I can play 1080p with 60 frames. Well duh.

I am not taking your post seriously based off your comment history. Your disagrees your getting are well earned.

dantesparda3047d ago (Edited 3047d ago )

"I haven't notice any bad frame drops or screen tearing like your claiming. If there is any its barely noticeable."

Oh hey, look at that, frame drops to the mid 20's and tearing. http://www.eurogamer.net/ar...

And of course the PC version will be better than the PS4 version. I don't think anyone expects otherwise. Unless they are either ignorant, a troll or a diehard fan.

Eagles833047d ago

I have this game on Xbox One and am almost finished with it and haven't noticed any screen tearing. Not sure where you get that from. I have seen a few framerate drops but they aren't huge drops and do not last long. Certainly still a good playable experience. You make it sound like it is terrible which is just dishonest.

dantesparda3047d ago

He gets his facts, from reality, whereas you obviously don't know what facts are and instead really on your own subjective opinions, which are not facts, sorry.

Here is the truth. https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Oh look at that, frame drops and tearing.

Look to all you people denying it. Its ok, to have beliefs and opinions and all, I mean we all do and its a human thing but don't deny the facts, because its stupid and makes you all look dumb.

DarkOcelet3048d ago (Edited 3048d ago )

GTX 970 will probably be the recommended Requirement for Ultra 1080/60fps.

tablecloth3048d ago

Depends, if the TresFX/PureHair still take a huge chunk of frames.

Kleptic3048d ago

its still a pretty realistic assumption...given that 780Ti's/970s/290x's/38 0x's have become the popular minimum for high end...that is most likely what they are targeting...lower cards would be able to do it no problem with more modern api's, more optimization, etc...but dx11.x on a console game that didn't exactly set the world on fire; the bean counters are already tapping their watches at the devs when it comes to finishing things up...

tablecloth3048d ago

@kleptic
That's certainly true, but my money is on 760/960 (TR2013 had 480GTX) recommended. Mostly because it's also on the 360 so the engine isn't that demanding.

But I wonder if you need a 980 to set everything on ultra with TresFX. Because it's extra demanding for Nvidia users, even The Witcher 3 Nvidia's HairWorks was some heavy stuff.

Wish Dev's would focus on DX12 solely.

Kleptic3048d ago (Edited 3048d ago )

yeah, true, forgot about the 360 side of things...

but again, they're probably looking at a minimum spec for 'ultra' in terms of optimization...and i still think those other cards will fall under it...only because they can...it'll still run great on cards under 970's, but you may need to tweak things away from ultra...

the screen doesn't show MSAA, which doesn't really matter since you can adjust that outside of the game anyway, but my guess is you're right...by default MSAA will be off, but the 'purehair' thing will be in the menu...and the main issue is that having tressfx and msaa on together was what ate up vram like no other (it was tough on AMD cards, and gutted nvidia equivalents)...so you may be right, you could run it on the highest program settings on a lesser card, but that also might be a sleight of hand situation in which msaa is also off (or SSAA if you're going nuts)...unless you adjust it in the specific driver suite for your card...as 'false' AA by nature is cpu bound, and frees up resources with the gpu...

so i guess overall its a 'who knows' haha

I'd love if a developer for this game, "not their public representative department", contacted me via email, explaining why I should be interested in supporting them for temporarily locking honest consumers out of the ability to play a game that has been historically multi platform?

Why should I give them money, after they tried to manipulate me into buying another consoles I don't have, JUST to find out 6 months later, it's going to be available for the one I have now? Not everyone lives on N4G to see some twitter account saying, "Wait! It's going to be multi platform eventually!!!!!"

No thank you. I wish them good luck selling their game, I hope they learned their lessons.

Lara Croft is a legendary teen fantasy loved across the world by almost every male that's every lived to see her character. She's an icon. Famous, and she's half naked on more male's walls across the world more likely than any other female character ever imagined. For this game to sell 1 million copies is a complete and utter joke.

Amazing, as it turns out, even the Xbox community doesn't like greasy snake oil business either?

from the beach3048d ago (Edited 3048d ago )

Doubt many Xbox One owners cared, to be quite frank.. I certainly didn't!

Super game.

jessionpc3048d ago (Edited 3048d ago )

Xbox One sold through units are likely around 18 million, selling a product that only reaches 1/18th of it's user base, especially considering Tomb Raiders unbelievable universal fame leads me to believe many Xbox One owners may have cared. Either way, you just seem not to be one of them.

I hope you don't have to learn by example, it would be a shame if Fallout 5/Elder Scrolls 6, the next Battlefield, Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, Final Fantasy or any other beloved 3rd party game suddenly became exclusive or temporarily exclusive to a console you don't own, nor want to buy, when historically you could before. I'm sure there's a 3rd party game out there you could relate with.

It was launched beside Fallout 4, which was definitely a big mistake, but I think you overestimate how well it did. Rightfully so, it's was a really unethical decision.

Your singular statement about how it was a, "Super game.", leads me to believe you think I was trying to make it sound like the game's quality was questionable. I'd like to make it clear for you, "in case that was your concern", that I was not.

Edit: I'm out of bubbles. I am incapable of replying now. Enjoy your games, friend.

from the beach3048d ago

Just pure crazy to suggest Xbox One owners didn't buy it as a show of solidarity with PS4 people.

It's not a case of me learning by example, as if this kind of thing has never happened before, I've already learned by example - games go exclusive and if you want to play them you buy the console they're on.

I agree that Tomb Raider probably suffered launching in the same week as Fallout, but that was just how things worked out and hopefully people got to play both over the course of the holidays.

Like I said it's a super game, one of last year's best, and you should play it when you can.

XanderZane3046d ago

I don't think anyone noticed any frame-drop or screen tearing because they were too busy enjoying the incredible gameplay. I wonder if there is frame drops and tearing on the PC & PS4 version if "dantesparda" with provide youtube proof for those versions as well. lol!! No matter how you slice it, the game was still great and very enjoyable and 100's of critics agree. Those are the FACTS.

Volkama3048d ago (Edited 3048d ago )

I would love it if you made me a cup of tea. Maybe with some bisuits.

jessionpc3048d ago

I caught your post right before you edited it. No one else need worry, but between you and me I respect you for changing it.

But I'm speaking from an offended consumers point of view, not from Brand loyalty like you may think I am.

Their job is to make video games, then attempt to sell it to consumers. I'm not trying to offend people who own another product, I just don't like how they attempted to manipulate people so unethically.

Volkama3048d ago (Edited 3048d ago )

Aye, I read it back and decided the tone was a bit hostile which really wasn't how it was meant. Made a subtle change to get the point across better.

I'm just pointing out that the devs job is as the name implies, and the Public Relations people are responsible for communication with the likes of you and me. They are exactly the people you should expect to hear from.

3048d ago
conanlifts3048d ago

Suck it up, it happened. It's the best tomb raider game to date so any serious fan who skips it are only really hurting themselves. Also bare in mind if you are a true fan and want more tomb raider games then this needs to sell. If this game does become a Commercial flop there will be no more. Who suffers the most then, i would say the fans.

3048d ago
user99502793048d ago

lol. is that a joke? nobody gives a crap what videogames you buy. they arent going to show up on your front porch and prostrate themselves before you. some wacked out ego you got goin on.

Azzanation3048d ago

@Jessionpc
Do you play video games for your enjoyment? If so then I recommend you buy it asap.

If your a share holder for Sony and realised that TR not releasing on PS4 affected your shares then don't buy the game.

343_Guilty_Spark3048d ago

You PS Fanboys make it seem like Tomb Raider would have done Halo type numbers just because the PS4 has like 35 million units in the wild. I highly doubt that. In fact I believe it would probably do no more than 2 million at best. No go away with your trolling and let the PC gamers enjoys this excellent title!!

barb_wire3048d ago

I don't have a PC remotely good enough to play this, nor an X1 either. So, I got it for my 360 and TBH, I'm amazed at what Nixxes was able to do, given the hardware/memory that the 360 has. Absolutely amazing.. game is great too. Will get it again when it releases for the PS4.

windblowsagain3048d ago

Pc games always have those options. For many years.

Many things that are on ultra make little to no difference as all graphically. But they kill the framerate.

starchild3048d ago

Maybe to imperceptive people, but in my experience most advanced graphics options do improve the look of games.

Zero Dawn sold really well so I’m not sure this belongs. The second game released next to a big game again and it hurt it some I forget what it was though, oh yeah Elden Ring .
But a good game is a good game to me I don’t care when they release personally but they do have to think about it when you want to get more people to buy it.

The Tomb Raider Survivor Trilogy's Take on Lara Croft Deserved More Recognition

The Survivor Trilogy was a drastic reimagining of Lara Croft and Tomb Raider, and it provokes changes for the character that are truly fantastic.

isarai488d ago (Edited 488d ago )

Deserves less IMO, i think the 1st in the new trilogy was a perfect 1st step for the new direction. The next 2 games were half steps at best. Not only that, every character in the series including Lara is just annoying and doesn't make sense in terms of motive, like yes they have a motive, but none of it seems proportional to the lengths they are willing to go through for it. The most annoying thing is every one of the games say "become the Tomb Raider" yet 3 games later and we're still not there? No thanks. Then there's the mess of the 3rd game, massive skill tree that serves almost no purpose as there's literally only like 3-4 short encounters in the whole game, and they took till the 3rd game to finally manage some decent puzzles even remotely close to previous games in the series. Nah, the trilogy infuriated me to no end as a long time fan of the series, i hope we get better going forward cause that crap sucked.

Army_of_Darkness486d ago

The first in the trilogy was my favorite. I thought they were going into the right direction with that one until the second one came out and seemed like a graphical downgrade but the gameplay was okay. As for the Third, Graphics were really nice but it was kinda boring me to death with its non-stop platforming and exploring with not enough action! Well, for me anyway...

DeathTouch486d ago

Graphics on the 3rd one were abysmal. It’s more colorful and has more variety, but everything else was a noticeable downgrade.

The more open world with NPC quests was also handled very poorly, to the point I missed Angel of Darkness.

thesoftware730486d ago

I know it is your opinion, but she did progress as a character in each game, she even got more muscular and seasoned.

That is the thing, people first complained that there was not enough platforming and actual tomb raiding in the first and second games. Shadow remedied that and kept the combat elements.

3-4 encounters? huh? did we play the same game? there was plenty of combat and, the skill tree did matter, like being able to hang enemies from trees, set explosives traps on bodies, being able to counter, and that are just a few of the combat skills. The skill tree also had things like being able to hold your breath underwater longer, crafting upgrades, zipline upgrade, and climbing upgrades that all changed how you can approach situations.

Not knocking your opinion, but we definitely had different experiences. I had 98% completion on the shadow.

SoulWarrior486d ago (Edited 486d ago )

Sorry but i'm with him about the low number of encounters, the game throws loads of weapons and skills you're way with a comparatively low amount of places to actually use them, so they felt under utilised.

-Foxtrot488d ago

Yeah...no

It was awful, for THREE GAMES it was "become the Tomb Raider" where she went back to square one after each game. Not to mention after a huge reaction of killing someone for the first time she then becomes Rambo straight after and goes on a slaughter spree without a single other reaction. Her development was all over the place.

She was whiney, weak and in later game a little arrogant and selfish

Oh and the voice actress compared to the previous ones was not as good

Lara Croft deserved better and while they are decent games as they are, we deserved actual Tomb Raider games, we could have had better survival games if they just stuck with the original Lara Crofts origin about her plane going down. Surviving 2 weeks in the Himalayas...I'd have liked to seen that, who knows what mystical threat she could have faced in the mountains or underground some secret concealed cave.

Tacoboto486d ago

I thought Shadow of the Tomb Raider had better gameplay than Rise, but it annoyed me the most of the trilogy when I stopped to think about the story.

It's like they deliberately decided to make her unlikeable and did nothing to make the character you're playing as likeable or have even one sign of humility.

SoulWarrior488d ago

2013 I thought was a fine entry, but Rise and especially Shadow were painfully mediocre follow ups imo, I really didn't like how selfish and angry her character was in those two.

Terry_B487d ago

No. Please forget the crap completely.

northpaws487d ago

First one was decent, played through it twice.
Second one was okay, played through it once.
Third one was really bad, tried twice a year apart, still can't get through the first two hours, it is just really bad.

thesoftware730486d ago

Honest question, what did you find bad about it? the opening 2 hrs of Shadow were fantastic imo.

The opening was very similar to the first 2, what did you find really bad?

Not looking for an argument, just an honest question.

Starman69486d ago

3rd one just didn't feel like a tomb raider game. Possibly because the development was passed to another development team. Big mistake! Microsoft killed tomb raider making the first game a timed exclusive. Never recovered after that.

They're all solid games, but nothing quite matched the epicness of the first one for me. I think the 3rd one started off strong but once you got to that Peruvian area it took a massive nose dive for me.

lelo2play867d ago (Edited 867d ago )

You got to be kidding!
The first one was great at the time... but this latest trilogy of Tomb Raider games are also great.

LiViNgLeGaCY867d ago

I think he means the first one in the new trilogy.

CrimsonWing69867d ago

I meant the first of the new trilogy.

Furesis867d ago

yeah i remember liking the first one when it came out, so i tried the second one sometime after release and i just could not get into it, i couldn't finish it. So i might try the 3rd now that i got it for free but ehh. But i do remember enjoying the first one, i wonder if i'd feel the same way if i played it today? Better not taint those memories lol

ANIALATOR136867d ago

I was the same for some reason. Never finished the second one. I got like half way through maybe.

ActualWhiteMan866d ago (Edited 866d ago )

The first one of the latest trilogy is a masterpiece

Fishy Fingers867d ago

I'll take a copy of Shadow... Cheers.

Profchaos867d ago

Great games I've played them all on ps4 but it'll be good to finally try shadow on my rtx card.

Double_O_Revan867d ago

Trying to claim them and the store keeps crashing. lol.

EGS has been having issues all day.

RedDevils867d ago

Weird I don't has that issue.

Double_O_Revan867d ago

I finally got it after a while. But it was real bad for a while.

PeeShuter867d ago (Edited 867d ago )

Claim games by going to the website and login using ur credentials. I did the same as i couldnt use epic launcher. Also try reinstalling Epic Launcher I did it and it worked.

Double_O_Revan867d ago

I always go through the website. It was all just down for a while yesterday it seems.
