Tekken 7: Tekken Tunes on PS4 Would Require a System Update and Policy Change; Negotiations Not Easy

The Tekken Tunes feature allowed Tekken Tag Tournament 2 players not only to listen to the background music of every stage, but also to replace the music with their own MP3 and more. Of course the fans of this kind of feature would like it to appear on Tekken 7 on consoles, and some thought to ask Director and Producer Katsuhiro Harada about the possibility of its implementation.

Reading the comment on that site made me cringe. It's like dam people at least let the game music play for a day while your playing before you put on generic spotify music.

Like me saying when I play KH3 for the first time before it comes out . I am going to mute the game background music and put on my hipster spotify music.

I just took away the immersion and didn't even give the game composer music score a chance that he/she worked on.

Except most people wouldnt do that with KH or any story driven experience . You're talking about a competitive multiplayer game , and a fighting game to boot ... the "generic" spotify music is probably less so than most of those titles .

That being said , of course i'd at least listen to what the game got to offer as music first . Some of the Tekken tunes of the past are even great classics ... such as "Moonlight Wilderness" in tekken 5 .

As for the complaints about the lack of tekken tunes , i'm not sure i see the issue . Those whom want custom music can simply use functions like spotify or the media player in the background usually .

What's stopping people from putting their MP3's on a flash drive or external HDD...and using the Media Player App to play their music, in the background? We've had this feature, for a minute now. Just because a game doesn't support it natively...doesn't mean the feature ceases to function at the OS level.

I don't understand why this is even an issue...

Rachel_Alucard3070d ago

Because the music has to be hard copied onto the system itself and using a stream from a device will not work and also its different having a different songs play for each menu and stage than it is to just play a playlist in the background.

I also think this is getting pretty ridiculous with music. Idk if you stream from xbox one but on Playstation as an example they mute the game background music. Drive Club and Rock band as an example.
It's like seriously? You don't want anyone listening to your music for free?

Gohadouken3070d ago

It's understandable , while a grievance for Rock Band and other music games .... it's most likely part of licensing that they dont allow a regular capture of the song via share . You can basically just release better music videos with it than some of the original songs .

I've always liked the Tekken music, the music for the School arena from Tekken Tag still gets stuck in my head from time to time now and that game is about 10yrs old!

As people said above though, why are you so desperate to remove the game music...before even playing the game?!
