Oculus Creator: 2016 to See 'huge explosion' of VR Games Being Published

VRFocus - The last three years have been huge for the virtual reality (VR) scene, but they will no doubt pale in comparison to 2016. Consumer head-mounted displays (HMDs) will finally be going on sale in the first half of the year, as will a wide range of videogames to support them on PC, PlayStation 4 and mobile platforms. In fact the creator of one of the most important HMDs, the Oculus Rift, expects to see a 'huge explosion' in the number of VR videogames that are published in the next year.

I will be starting off with PSVR, but I have to upgrade my PC for Oculus as I know there is going to be a treasure trove of games for it. In fact, I will be upgrading my PC for Starcraft: Legacy of the Void anyway, I might as well make it Oculus ready. Does anyone know what specs I need for my Graphics Card to handle Oculus?

OP: I'm glad that these two devices are coming out almost simultaneous. I think it is by design too because the two devices will help each other push VR into people's homes which in turn means bigger revenue for developers, which then means more games developed for VR in general, which means better adoption. In a way the two devices are allies as well as competitors. But they are only competitors in the lease way possible since they are on completely different areas of the market.

I had a great time with DK2 and a GTX 780, didn't hit any performance issues. However Retail Oculus is higher resolution so will need more power.

Aside from the obvious reasons, I'm excited for VR games because the creative people that make games are probably excited to be able to do something new and that will motivate them to do even better. And it's probably good for morale not having to do the same thing over and over again.

I was lucky and held off on 4 until I played it in VR. It really is pretty awesome - you'll love it.

The icing on the cake would be if Sony / Valve allow for a Steam Link app much like it is for the Quest 3. Likely wishful thinking, though.

It could be free and it wouldn't matter at this point. There isn't really a PCVR Market and I say that as a PCVR user. It is modders and enthusiasts with a few retail products on Steam.
