Star Wars actor Alan Tudyk walked away from Uncharted 4

Star Wars: Rogue One and popular sci-fi actor Alan Tudyk has revealed that he left the cast of Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 4 after too many changes were made to his script.

I'm sure that this happened when Neil took over years ago since he said they "Changed leadership". I mean, look at U4 now. It looks amazing. Considering Troy baker came with no problem doesn't make me nervous at all.
Anyway, He probably played as the bad guy?

jon_snow3135d ago

Well said +1 Bubble for you mate. Like you said this happened years ago, don't know why it's up now. Nevertheless expect some troll to make huge cry over it.

OpieWinston3135d ago

Alan doesn't really play bad guys.

DragonDDark3135d ago

I know.. it was just a guess :P

LordMaim3135d ago

Have you ever seen Dollhouse? For the bulk of the series, he played a surprisingly menacing antagonist.

OpieWinston3135d ago

I'm not saying Alan can't play bad guys. It's just not the character HE would play in something like Uncharted.

Much like Nathan Fillion (Perfect live action Drake), Alan plays the funny wild card character. He's a better partner then antagonist. He's got a range of both menacing and hilarious voices.

Silly Mammo3135d ago

Alan definitely didn't play a good guy in the movie "42". Though that might be up for interpretation by some sections of the US.

antz11043135d ago

Lol he was amazing in Tucker and Dale Vs Evil.

pitzy2723134d ago

He did in the movie 42 about Jackie Robinson. Played a real bastard.

I guess we will never know why Amy Hennig was being forced out of Uncharted.

What a ClusterFuck.

Aloy-Boyfriend3135d ago (Edited 3135d ago )

She wasn't forced out. That's ND's bussiness not yours

Thatguy-3103134d ago

Not to disrespect Amy but Uncharted 3 story line was a mess. Thank god that Neil and Bruce came to take leadership for this last installment. It deserves to go out on a bang and I have more faith on a vision that they come up with.

IGN.... He may be in Rogue One and that's awesome but Alan Tudyk should always be referred by the cult hit Firefly.

Masterofwiiu3ds3135d ago

Agreed! The title of this article was confusing (even...hit baity) since that movie is years away from coming out. Heck, I didn't even know he was in a Star Wars movie.

OpieWinston3135d ago

It's IGN. Their TV/Movie reviews are even worse then their game reviews. They don't know JACK about entertainment.

So not knowing where Alan is from doesn't really surprise me.

WeAreLegion3135d ago

Darn. I love Alan.

Anyone seen Con Man? Excellent show.

OpieWinston3135d ago

Amazing show. Alan Tudyk and Nathan Fillion need to do more work together. I absolutely loved playing ODST having Adam/Alan/Nathan on the same team again.

OpenGL3135d ago

He was also Steve the pirate in Dodgeball and played the father of Ann Veal in Arrested Development.

Picnic3135d ago (Edited 3135d ago )

I'm concerned that Troy Baker's playing the brother. I won't think 'That really is Nate's brother'. I'll think 'That's Troy Baker putting on a voice and not trying to sound too much like Troy Baker'. I'll try to imagine my own, totally unfamiliar, voice. I know the same can be said of Nolan North but his character came before he was well known. Nolan and Nate cannot be separated and why would you want to?

generic-user-name3135d ago

"That's Troy Baker putting on a voice..."

Yup, that's pretty much how voice acting works.

Picnic3135d ago

My point being that , because I recognise the vocal tendencies of Baker, it will slightly take me out of my suspension of disbelief. Whereas I knew Drake's voice before I knew who North was so Nathan has always been very real to me.

skratchy3135d ago (Edited 3135d ago )

Pay attention to the CHARACTER and not the VOICE ACTOR, and maybe you won't be so critical. That's like bitching about an awesome movie just because they pick an actor you don't like. Who cares? Is the movie still good? THAT is what should matter.

Also: Troy Baker is a skilled, tenured voice actor. Of course they cast him. What exactly is your complaint here?

Picnic3134d ago (Edited 3134d ago )

I'm saying that my instinct, informed by my knowledge, is that I would be more in to the character if it wasn't a voice that I could even slightly tell was someone I already know.

But, hey, you want to be a teacher for how I should enjoy my entertainment. That I should be fully immersed in the fiction rather than bring any prior knowledge to the table. I didn't say that they were wrong to cast Troy Baker (although you didn't say that yourself either). But they were wrong for ME personally though if they'd asked me what would most immerse me in the character.

So I know that the wishes of millions do override the wishes of a few.
Not like Naughty Dog surveyed anyone to ask them though, eh?

slinky1234563134d ago

Well, it is true a lot of what Troy Baker has done you can tell it is him without looking up the cast. But there are instances like The Last of Us where you wouldn't have even known it was him.

Picnic3134d ago

I agree that in The Last of Us you couldn't tell it was him and he was perfectly cast for that.

rezzah3134d ago

Nolan uses his own voice without any change for Drake.
