If they keep this up, they may actually help to sell a few units over there.
The most important rating is that Lost Plant scored a full 6 points higher than Motorstorm. That is so huge. Sony has really been pushing Motorstorm as a reason to buy a PS3.
Yeah, 30/40 for Motorstorm is definitely not good news. That is like a 75/100 here. 75 for Motorstorm?? The last time I checked, when a game got a 75 rating that meant it sucked. I thought this was supposed to be the killer app that sold more consoles. You don't sell consoles with 75 scores. Lost Planet got the equivalent of a 90.
Motorstorm is sooo awesome, NOT. I guess it doesn't look or play well like all of the other PS3 games.

I was a little surprised by how Need for Speed had a better rating than Motorstorm.

ALL previews that can be read since a few weeks all state that the game was greatly polished and the frame rate improved a lot.
Famitsu's way to give scores is a bit different from what we are used to see. They just give the global scores from 4 reviewers.

Anyways, i'm not really surprised. I don't think Motorstorm is the kind of game that japanese gamers really like. Plus, the japanese version of MS doesn't have an online mode.
I wouldn't use Famitsu's scores only.
And just to put things in perspective, Nintendogs was awarded a 40/40 score, so huh well... lol
You can't compare the two. One is a Handheld and the other is a system.
Who cares about the PSP. The PSP is so 2004. PS2? I'd rather play my 360.

Online multiplayer is added. This is the Japanese version that doesn't have online multiplayer yet. As it stands, the game is definitely very good. I hope they don't screw up on the multiplayer.
Its about games! PSP isnt kicking the sh1t outta 360 the game is kicking the sh!t outta the other game. Can you really compare the two? My PSP collects dust cause its a POS and I regret buying it. If anyone wants a PSP with 5 games and 2 battery packs (2nd battery is from my first PSP that went tits up after a month) and a 1 gig stick let me know I will sell the bundle cheap.
They have to review the games in context. As a reviewer you don't compare a handheld game to a console game. You review it as a handheld game. It's really common sense , I am not going to waste my time arguing with you about it.

motorstorm had no online capabilities for the Japanese version. this is a huge disappointment for Japanese fans. that's why i think it got an 8. what fun is a racing game if you can't challenge others. i will bet that the reviews for the US/Euro version will be much better.
that's why need for speed beat it and for not having online.japanese love drift racing.well..so do i.but i like all other racing types.

motorstorm should get great reviews when we get the "definitive version" with online next february for america and europe.
Honestly I give very little credence to Famitsu scores when it comes to gaming in the US. I will wait and see how Western sites score the game before I pass judgement, etc.
I mean really...they gave Sonic almost the same score as Motorstorm on the PS3. And Sonic is garbage as far as I am concerned. They also loved DOAX2 as I recall. Basically they have different likes in games than we do from the West. So ...Famitsu scores from my perspective are taken with a grain of salt.
believe it or not for what it is nintendogs was a good game, not by my standards but my wife and step kid play the hell out of that game.
from what i have read and the demo i saw (were a few people waiting so i didn't get to play) it was very dissapointing from what the hype machine built up so i wouldn't be surprised to see similar scores (8s) from impartial (non fanboy sites) reviewers.
you waited in line but didn't get to play the demo or download the latest from the sony store onto the ps3?HOW ABOUT PLAYING IT FIRST.or at least the final build in feb/march.

Your right #18 MotoStorm isn't drift racing, that's the best excuse on this thread, #10 at least you see what i see, people are getting confused with what's going in MotoStorm with graphics.
It will score solid 9's once reviewed. Graphicially the game looks great, not so sure how much lasting power it will have tho. Hope the gameplay doesnt get old to quick, as most "niche" racers do.
So far every single PS3 game does not get their score highter than all the AAA XBox 360 games.
When a 3rd party game "Need for Speed Carbon" scores better than a 1st "Motorstorm" game when Sony and their fanboys didn't seem to stop bragging and calling it the XBox 360 killer it does make you feel sad inside for the poor lost souls. I feel feel like crying! wahhhhhh waaaaaahhh!
I respect you opinion about MotoStorm I try to see it the way you guy's see it but the game's just doesn't look good to me, it looks nasty (in the bad way). That MS pic above is why this toppic is so hot, no one would be talking about this game; with out those old CGI pics..

japan is so important when PS3 fans are talking about sales figures and how 360 is getting wooped in the land of the rising sun but as soon as Japan scores a PS3 game low Japan suddenly isnt important and just wait till north americans score the game? give me a break. i happen to agree that Japaneese opinion doesnt matter to North American gamers but lets stay consistent instead of just making excuses then contradicting ourselves. Is gameing in Japan relevant or not? if it is then live with the reviews. If it isnt stop flaunting sales figures.
The only thing this tells us is that the folks at Famitsu are complete retards. Has anyone played Sonic? No. Cause it's so bad you almost can't. Even though I'm no fan of the Ps3 there's no chance in hell NFS: Carbon could be better than Motorstorm. I own it (Carbon) and it sucks really bad. Last-gen graphics and a framerate that takes away all sense of speed. So I don't care how they rate their games, let's wait until Ign or some other reliable source reviews it. That's what will be interesting.
but 8 out of 10 from a top japanese game mag is great.i agree with the 6 for replay because it's not online over there.very few games get 10's.one was zelda:ocarina of time.one was soul calibur on dreamcast.no games on 360 or xbox got 10s.but there is always a first time.
illbeinstone,ps3 is going to sell more than 360 over there regardless.since microsoft is so slow to provide them with games they might like.not what they want to give them which is shooters.
is it a killer app?yes indeedy!just stopped playing the downloaded demo again.it's just that good.it will add to the rest of the top ps3 games.but it comes down to the type of games you like.halo and resistance aren't killer apps to some people.
i agree,let's see what reviews it gets when it hits the states and europe from ign,gamespot and so on.but even then it's just an opinion from other gamers.
