Exactly this. I don't hate on PewDiePie in the sense that I go out of my way to leave nasty remarks/comments on his videos because I simply don't watch them. If someone asks me what I think, I'll let them know. That being said, his content doesn't appeal to me as I find his mannerisms annoying.

On the other had, regardless of what I or anyone else thinks, you can't knock the hustle. The man found a way to turn his particular brand of humor into something extremely lucrative. I can respect that.

PewDiePie is a very funny guy and he makes amazing videos and I know he is NOT empty. He is always very calm and always very entertaining in all his videos.

I dislike the ones that I think don't deserve it, and whether you disagree or not, I don't personally think he deserves the popularity and (more importantly) income that he gets. His videos are the worst kind of pandering schlock on youtube. There is no cleverness or creativity involved with anything he does. It is literally just a grown man screaming obscenities at a screen.

I don't hate him. I don't even really dislike him. I just don't care for his work. I don't care if he makes a lot of money for it, because if he has an audience, then so be it. There are plenty of shows on TV that are quite popular, but cater to the lowest common denominator, but it doesn't affect my life as far as I know. False, there is 1 reason to hate him. His act of donating to charity is all about giving himself a high moral ground. He admitted to this on his twitter a while ago and immediately people called him out saying how screwed up that was. He then deleted the tweet a few minutes after. So his whole caring and niceness is only done because he essentially pays for a good reputation. This is not a theory or some paranoid assumption, this is an event that did occur.

People have deemed that those who provide entertainment to a large audience should get paid more than the people who put in all the work behind the scenes. This is why celebrities get paid 10's of millions, because society believes they are that valuable.

PDP uses Nickelodeon humor and small children are more entertained by random screaming and overeacting then a well thought out joke or story. That's just something they'll eventually grow out of.

He basically found a loophole in the copyright rules and exploited it and now we have all these publishers coming down hard trying to plug it because of people like PDP, Markiplier, etc. So even if you wanted to do that thing it's next to impossible now with all the rules and the fact that his children will just bash you for being a ripoff.

Please don't be that biased, he maintained a persona for a long time, that takes a lot dedication, building a community and his own brand. Consistently interacting with his fans through social media. He also has to edit his videos which takes time and effort to do. Yes he certainly got lucky, but not without some degree of effort and dedication to his channel.

Never heard about the twitter thing and I find it hard to believe when there isn't any evidence, or whether you are really interpreting it as the truth. There should be more controversy if he tweeted something like that.
Regardless, charity is a commendable action and he should have the right to brag about it if he did it. Doesn't matter whatever his intentions were for donating because we would never know. It's a smart way of attracting positivity and many youtubers do it.

Basically what you're saying is he shouldn't be donating to charity just because he has the "wrong" intention. Yes, he shouldn't be helping disadvantaged people in need just because it is not "an act of good out of your heart"

I said before, the intention for charity does not matter because we would never truly know. Perhaps its a mixture of selfless and "selfish" motivation. Call it exploitation, call it taking advantage. A lot of entertainers provide charity partly because of what they gain from it. I don't see wrong in it as long as it helps the people in need.
Whatever Pewdiepie tweeted (if it did exist) is the honest truth of charity by most famous groups or people, judging from his personality I'm sure he does it partially for the "right" reasons as well.

Taste's differ, some like guys like PDP and Markiplier other's don't. However I sure hope those companies don't do it. I myself couldn't afford a console while I was in school and the only way to enjoy video games was watching someone else play them. There's a lot of kids like that who don't have the finances to play modern games.

I myself don't like the screaming and stuff. My favorite was, and still is Cryaotic. He's silent, only talks when needed, his jokes actually make sense, but he doesn't gain attention. If companies follow Nintendo, small guys like him who are of better quality than the big ones won't survive.

Because young people in poor countries have difficulties spending hundreds of dollars on consoles in general. I watched Let's plays with my friends. If the average income per person is 200 dollars, it's difficult for most people to buy a console with that.

For me, it's not about him at all. It's about all of those subscribers. It hurts my soul to think that the world has fell into such a cesspool that so many people subscribe to his form of stupidity, and that's EXACTLY what it is. It's a lifestyle that promotes nothing positive for the world, no innovation, no ingenuity, or anything resembling a progression of the human race. The saddest part is that these kids subscribing to this crap will only aspire to do something similar themselves. The days of dreaming of becoming a Doctor, Astronaut, or Scientist are long gone.
