Guerrilla Games Keeps Hiring Witcher 3 Veterans for its Rumored PS4 Open World RPG

Guerrilla games has been working on a PS4 game, rumored to be an open world RPG code named Horizons, and the studio seems to be indeed seeking experts in that field.

Back in February, it hired CD Projekt RED’s Lead Cinematic Artist Pawel Swierczynski and Quest Designer Dennis Zoetebier, and today it was discovered that they just hired Senior Technical Designer Shadi Dadenji this month.

"John Gonzales (Lead Writer for Fallout: New Vegas) is working on this."

What...SOLD!!!!!!

Rimeskeem3664d ago

indeed, this is going to be a "big" game

thejigisup3664d ago

They have a seriously stacked team, can't wait to see what they're cooking up

dreamoner3664d ago

Don't know what it is but want it on PC! but damn it these guys look like PS exclusive devs

And that partly explains the partly lack of talent in Obsidian games lately.

MadLad3664d ago

@Dreamoner

Lack of quality in Obsidian games lately? They've finally been given a real development cycle, and they produced two of the highest rated games of their respective years.

Get off of it.

dreamoner3664d ago

@SlapHappyJesus

Well I said partly and I said games but was thinking about only Pillars of Eternity which is problem free most of the time which is new to Obsidian but it's writing is dry and story is too slow paced. If New Vegas' writing is 9/10 I'd give 7/10 to Pillars. Which came as a surprise to me, cos before PoE came out I could doubt every feature in an upcoming obsidian game but not the writing.

Gazondaily3664d ago

Those guys plus GG's visual talents could potentially make for one of the best games of this gen. My bowdeh is not readeh

StormLegend3664d ago

@ the guys above prasing Halo.

Get out of here with that Garbage, Same lame FPS every year.

Can't believe people buy an Xb1 for Halo.

Gazondaily3663d ago

@Travis

Can't believe 15 people agreed with your comment lol. Sour grapes I guess.

generic-user-name3664d ago

This could be a dark horse for best game of show.

The Killzone series has always had good lore, the only problem is that it was mostly absent from the game, with these guys + the talent of GG (even visuals alone) they could be able to achieve something special.

bloop3664d ago

I never liked the lore of killzone. I don't know what it was, but it just didn't click with me. I thought the Helghast were unimaginative, the story was meh and none of the main characters were memorable. But besides that I still actually enjoyed the games!! GG are awesome devs and I've been waiting for them to step away from KZ and work on something new. I can't wait to see what they come up with.

jonny2by43664d ago (Edited 3664d ago )

Good background, he could add a lot to an already talented team.

kraenk123664d ago

I just hope they get back to CDP Red for Cyberpunk 2077!

PlayStation Studios Could Embrace Decima Engine As Guerrilla Expands Developer Support

Some of Sony's first-party PlayStation Studios may be developing their future titles using Guerrilla Games' Decima engine.

Might be for studios which were using older engines or UE4 like Bend Studio.
Sony's big 5 studios' engines are all unique to some degree and I want it stay that way for future new games.
Remakes can be done using Decima if required like Bloodborne or Uncharted 1.
Imagine From Software embracing Decima for future titles.
But then again Until Dawn Remake was done using UE5, when the original was made using Decima.

VersusDMC162d ago

Maybe ease of use is what made it a better choice. And it was already tested by a another studio with kojima productions having shipped death stranding on Decima.

Eonjay162d ago

I wonder if this is for studios beyond SIE and KP. Decima has also proven itself of platforms beyond PS5 so I wonder how comfortable they would be with allowing non first party use it wherever?

Minute Man 721162d ago

They should use the Ready at Dawn engine

DarXyde162d ago

That engine is mighty impressive, even by today's standards. The cloth simulation and gun animations are absolutely chef's kiss.

But I think it's one of those very intensive engines that will choke the hell out of the hardware and you're looking at a short and linear but very detailed experience. More or less what you get from a UE5 game that really forces the hardware (e.g., Hell blade II).

For that reason, Naughty Dog's engine is probably more practical: still extremely detailed (albeit less so) but allows for a more wide-linear experience and you're still left in awe.

But if we're going open world, absolutely Decima.

porkChop162d ago

They don't own that engine, and Ready at Dawn doesn't even exist anymore.

anast162d ago

They already have embraced it along with some other engines.

jjb1981162d ago

They need to put that Decima engine to work for Killzone 5 or a remake of Killzone 2.

anast162d ago

This would be a cool gift to the fans.

jjb1981162d ago

I'm a huge Killzone 2 fan. It's my favorite shooter of all time and I wish they'd revive the IP. I know a remake of KZ2 would do very well. My original PSN friends I met were on KZ2 and and we formed a clan. I've been itching to get that 3 star badge. Only made it to 2-star.

Eonjay162d ago

Fun fact Decima IS the evolved version of the Killzone engine.

OlderGamer17162d ago

Noppe, its build from the ground up....

CrimsonIdol162d ago

A Killzone 2 remake where the controls are actually responsive could be cool.

mike32UK162d ago

The character has weight, it was a design choice which many people happened to like. You're probably too used to the floaty controls of COD

CrimsonIdol161d ago (Edited 161d ago )

yeah I remember that argument too. Then how that argument went away when they fixed it for the sequel. having massive input delay before anything happens due to technical issues isn't an artistic choice. It's good copium though

RaiderNation162d ago

Rather than a KZ2 remake, I'd rather see them do a KZ reboot! If they're going to do a remake, I'd rather see a PS5 remake of KZ Mercenary! Hands down one of the best Vita games and the 2nd best Killzone game in the series (after KZ2).

Guerrilla Games' Multiplayer Horizon Game Could Be Named "Hunters Gathering," Teases Leak

Guerrilla Games' upcoming multiplayer Horizon title could be dubbed "Hunters Gathering," according to a new leak.

Jin_Sakai553d ago (Edited 553d ago )

I wish PlayStation Studios would just stick to what they do best, making great single player games.

Outside_ofthe_Box552d ago

The core gameplay of Horizon is really good, so this is one of the few I can see working out. Also GG does have one of the greatest multiplayer games ever made in Killzone 2 under their belt so MP isn't too far off with what GG does best.

SyntheticForm552d ago

Hell, I enjoyed Shadowfall's MP thoroughly even though it had issues. Guerrilla have delivered solid multiplayer experiences.

Cacabunga551d ago

Oh boy. No idea why they don't want to work on a killzone it's a much more fun multi mode. -

__SteakDeck__551d ago

@Jin_Sakai First. As a business, you don’t just stick to what you do great. If that was the case, Apple would of just done computers and not taken a risk with iTunes and the iPhone. Also have you seen the cost of their AAA games like Spiderman 2? Sony is going to need one of these GAAS games to hit, or expect budget cuts to their SP games. We’re already seeing in the document leak, that they’re asking Insomniac to cut budgets.

Jin_Sakai551d ago

Their studios aren’t masters at GaaS and it’s showing. Naughty Dog wasted all that time and Resources just to cancel Factions and Insomniac's multiplayer Spider-Verse got axed. If Sony really wants a big GaaS hit their best bet would be to acquire EA or Epic Games. You need huge support to keep these games going with content and updates.

purple101553d ago (Edited 553d ago )

OHH GOD YES,, or at least some new shooter. finals was okay but I want more, spesh from 1st party

DaleCooper552d ago

Meh. You know what could be good? A new Killzone.

Magatsuhi552d ago

Hope it's not battle royale.

anast552d ago

It would be better than Monster Hunter, but I'm good with the Gaas stuff.
