if you looked around you could already buy a lot of yearly memberships for 40 bucks online.

I thought this was an official price cut, but it looks like it's just the Microsoft STORE reducing the price of a 12 month card

Oner3361d ago (Edited 3361d ago )

Correct, Aaron Greenberg confirmed on Twitter it is limited time only.

Pogmathoin3361d ago

I think this has something to do with being near the end of financial year, get as much sold as possible....

mikeslemonade3361d ago

I have almost 3 years worth of Gold already.

Neonridr3361d ago

yeah, you can always find deals through other sources, but nice to see a deal being given by MS themselves.

XanderZane3360d ago

True.. Amazon had a sale for $40 XBL Cards for a week last month. Now's a good time to grab a 12 month subscription. I might as well get mine now. Get 2 years worth and I'm all set for awhile.

How about they make multiplayer and voice chat free for everybody so i dont have to pay $40 just to play half my game or the full game if its multiplayer only. If you want the extra goodies like bigger sales and exclusive content than you can pay $40 if you want.

curtis923361d ago

Yeah i think that's where this is going. rather than being a service that you're required to have, it's becoming more of a service you pay because of the benefits you get from it. It's a much better deal for consumers.

crazychris41243361d ago

I use it for multiplayer and party chat. In the last year i bought 1 game that was on sale with gold n that was last week with alien isolation. I paid 50 to save 6 extra bucks. This is a scam for people like me who just play multiplayer games n use party chat.

Muzikguy3360d ago

Not trying to sound like an ass, but aren't you a few years late to be complaining about paying for Xbox Live? Maybe like a decade late? If all you do is play online multiplayer than I'd argue you get the most out of your purchase. Really, you'd have less reason to complain

crazychris41243360d ago

How about they just allow Xbox Silver to now cover multiplayer and party chat access??? Gamers win. People who just play multiplayer can save $40 a year, use it towards new games and people who buy Gold will still be able to play the free games, use the additional discounts and other benefits. Dont see whats the problem here. Im not taking away your gold just trying to play half of my game without having to shell out another $40 on top of my $60 game.

Muzikguy3360d ago

Well they started the pay to play online and only seemed to add free games to compete with Sony. I don't see them stopping the "pay to play" online thing. They won't drop what they had originally done to continue something they only did in response to someone else. At least that's how I see it. It would be nice. You'd probably get a lot of people complaining then about having to pay all this time :/

ScorpiusX3361d ago

Great price to bad am paid up to march 6 2017, if they would allow to go beyond 3 years at a time .

Umm...it's been on sale for a week now.

In other words, FromSoft is kicking ass; other Kadokawa game companies, not so much.
