What will be Blizzard's big surprise reveal this year? A new Warcraft could rock the convention. Here's why it's time.
A return of the classics Return to the mid-'90s, where two storied universes from Blizzard Entertainment began, as three legacy titles launch today on Battle.net for the first time! This year is the Warcraft universe’s 30th anniversary–the perfect time to revisit the first tales of Azeroth–and hot off the heels of the release.
BLG writes: "In a little over a decade, Blizzard went from a company that could seemingly do no wrong to one embroiled in an endless stream of controversies and scandals. Unfortunately, the quality of Blizzard games suffered greatly as a result. But while it’s easy to criticize the current state of Blizzard Entertainment, it’s safe to say that many of the company’s games still hold a special place in our hearts. This is why I decided to take a little trip down memory lane and reminisce about all the Blizzard games put out over the past three decades. Yep, we’re going all the way back to the beginning with this one."
Squad writes "A decade ago they were a dominant force in gaming. There were always a plethora of tower defense games being offered, including classics like Plants vs. Zombies and Iron Brigade. Even some famous franchises – such as Final Fantasy – dipped their toes into the tower defense genre."
You got it backwards, it's more popular now. Also you show zero statistics to back up your premise.
Not going to happen. Only reason Starcraft 2 exists is because of the eSports crap. The RTS genre is effectively dead. If Warcraft Proper ever returns in any form, I imagine it would be as either a handheld/mobile strategy "lite" game or a Dragon Age / Witcher -style 3rd-person RPG.
The RTS genre is not dead, and that is a blatantly false lie.
Here are a few released this year, and next year.
1. Etherium
2. Blitzkrieg 3
3. Planetary Annihilation
4. Universum: War Front
5. StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void
6. Stronghold: Crusader 2
7. Grey Goo
8. SpellForce 3
And thats not counting all the turn-based strategy games.
