Sorry, I meant arent real powerhouses. But looking at my disagrees, it really seems like people think that these consoles can match a PC in visuals. I mean, you have to compare it to a high end rig, because the guy says, he has NEVER SEEN anything like this before, meaning, no game dev ever made it this real... and somehow I dont believe it. I mean, it can look stunning, for a console game. Uncharted 4 will surpass anything on PC because it's highly optimized just for the PS4. Meaning the developer can focus entirely on all the strengths of the PS4 instead of developing it for any other platform. It may not be 120fps or 4k but movies can still look stunning on 720p too with textures, physics, lighting, particles, etc.

That didn't happen with the Uncharted games, so I don't see why you assume it will happen with Uncharted 4.

It's going to look amazing, no doubt about it, but that doesn't mean there aren't going to be other amazing looking games. The Uncharted games last generation looked great and were among the best looking console games, but they weren't the best looking games I played last generation.

While PCs can be much more powerful than consoles, PC devs don't have the luxury of developing directly for a specific piece of hardware. The games they develop must run on the median PC rig in the wild. The PS4 is more powerful than that median system. (If you don't believe me, pick a PC game and check your minimum system requirements.) This results in PS4 devs being able to produce things never seen before. Because no one has been able to code specifically for hardware this powerful until now. And before the PC elite crowd comes in and say 120 fps this and 4k that, high res and fps are just indicators of how much power is being left on the table. 120 fps Pacman is still just Pacman. Now imagine if PC devs could harness all that power by developing for it from the ground up.

Since it seems this guy Martin Sofiedal is a film director of sorts who is working on a live-action film based on Uncharted, that could explain why he was invited to Naughty Dog to check out their cut-scene creation project. Nowhere does the author mention that he witnessed actual gameplay, but by the sound of thing this was all about the cut-scenes since this is the kind of stuff he's working on.

I interviewed both Andy Gavin and Jason Rubin when they were making "Way of the Warrior" for the 3DO. Andy, I believe was getting his Masters at M.I.T. at the time and I lived in Cambridge, MA. My cousin and I were starting our gaming mag back then, so we were able to get an interview with them. Great guys and we always got to speak with them at the E3's. All games for now are using 5gb of ram GDDR5. Im betting that Naughty dogs are using 6.5 gb. They have the ICE team that probably told them that the UI will be optimised to use 1.5gb instead of 3 gb. I think thats how they are going to pull this off. They are just going to increase the power of the PS4.

If you think about it the UI is not optimised at all, and when Mark Cerny announced that the UI would use 3gb, he said it will change in the future. The UI was not in final form optimised when it launched, and its still not optimised. Games onward from that point will all be using that new power.

No offense to anyone but maybe I just completely missed out on the Uncharted Series. I have heard friends say they loved it and I am willing to replay some of them. I played part 2. Didn't play part 3 but from what I hear I didn't miss much on 3. Part 2 was the best.

First let me be clear. I own a PS4 and i own and enjoyed "The Last of Us" greatly. I have seen a rendered CGI trailer last on UC4. Played part 1 and 2 of uncharted. When I hear people talk about UC4 they speak of it as if its a done deal game. Like there will never be a game to compete or ever compare. To me TLOU pulled out More emotion than a game had ever previously done and they did it visually and story wise. Great game. Now don't get me wrong the CGI of the "in game footage" of UC4 looks great but am I the only one that doesn't want to be hyped up by this game? I am pretty tired of being let down this gen so far. I don't doubt the games ability to amaze me, nor do I doubt the team of ND (though they have been split up) sort of. It just seems like people are losing their minds over the series like I don't remember them doing previously.

I am ready for it to be great. Just don't ruin it with hype guys. Let's see a lot more before we go sacrificing our first born at the foot of UC4. Then it may be a pleasant surprise. Honestly some of the work I have seen sledgehammer do on CoDAW is amazing too. Like almost too realistic. As a PC gamer (although I don't have a gaming PC right now), I know just how much better PC can be in many ways, one of them being graphics and fidelity. Theres always a significant difference, and hey, its what you get for investing in powerful hardware.

However, when it comes to high quality first party exclusives like these... and not just that. This is Naughty Dog. I was blown away by Uncarted 2 on PS3, and I know that when Uncharted 4 comes out, it will blow just about everything else out of the water, and not just in terms of graphics.

Many gamers are blown away by games like Dwarf Fortress and Europa Universalis. They are complex and versatile games - worth of >1000 hours. They are not about graphics or simple and straightforward game mechanism as pretty much all of AAA games nowadays are - Uncharted series included.

Grass looks like shite in most games though.

Most games just have low res sprites that pop and clips up out of the ground, the grass is static or has a couple simple or just a looping animation... A recent game that does this is Evil within.

Martin, the guy who saw this says EACH INDIVIDUAL STRAW of grass reacts to being touched and reacts to the wind.
So individually 3D modeled straws of grass, with physics or physics/animation blend tech... sounds kind of insane but ND has done impressive physics, vegetation, animation, water, fire, snow.... Even if the guy had NO credit I have no problem believing it.

He is the guy who directed "Uncharted: ambushed" and he were invited over to ND and saw more than just a mere trailer. He claims to have been fan of the franchise for a few years and comes through in the article as genuinely excited and truthful. (I'm Norwegian and didn't bother to look at the google translated version, it may come across a bit differently in english)

And who would reenact a scene from a 7 year old game?

Don't get TOO hyped. Haven't we learned anything from Destiny and Driveclub? If you are waiting for the best graphics of all time you can't be anything but disappointed.

I think this will happen with MCC too. Halo 1 anniverssary, 3 and 4 won't be much different. Halo 2 (Xbox to mature Xone) will be a bigger delta then H1 Anniversary (Xbox to 360) or TLOU (Late PS3 to early PS4, but it's not going to blow you away (too bad they went with 2 graphics engines at once). Just remember it's 4 amazing games (not paintings) for just $60.

If you hype UC4 as the next coming of Jesus, it will end up with a metascore under 60.

Calm down guys and take it easy. It´s just hype, nothing more. I heard these quotes for years and no game in fact was photorealistic. Even first U4 trailer was not photoreal. I am a fan of Uncharted series and proud owner of PS4 so can´t wait for U4 but I don´t get these PR bullshits :)

There's some things you can look at when it comes to this..the game can look great but won't run at 1080p 60fps without dropping some textures or turning shadowing off like in the last of us look back at driveclub everyone was talking about how awesome the game looked and when it came out it looked like crap and has popup the one guy said it best it might look great because its on a console but pc can push 4k and imagine what could have been done with Uncharted on computer on a gtx980 on a 4k monitor ps4 is having trouble running games at 1080p pc its out of the box as long as you have a descent set up and as far as the CGI an avatar if and when playstation 8 came out it wouldn't come close to avatar that's like saying nintendos next system will look like monsters university
