Why is this tagged Playstation 3?

SI7VER5798d ago

It's really starting to p!ss me how M$ is buying our exclusive brands. It'll be one sad day to see the headline, "M$ has just bought Square-Enix"

ry-guy5798d ago

I imagine this is one of the better "cross-platformed" tags.

Anyways it is probably tagged since games like Star Ocean 4 *may* still appear on the Playstation 3 but that is still left unconfirmed.

Oh no! SquareEnix wants to make some more money!

I'll take new cross-platform games rather than the next iteration of Chocobo Racing or Final Fantasy X-129,022,902,131.

Now they have a reason to get these games out: garunteed money. I'm sure if $ony (ha! see how I did that!? Now Microsoft and Sony are on the same level!) threw out some cash to SquareEnix for FFXIII you'd seen announced release date tomorrow and I bet they'd make it within 6-8 months (December-Feburary).

Tri-Ace still uses their old game engine from 2008

The gaming community lately makes jokes about companies making games that look like "PS3" or "PS2" games. While this is such a nasty dig, there may be some truth to this in the case of tri-Ace.

Sad really. I used to love these guys but man...they just aren't what they used to be.

phallusitator331d ago

According to the this they are exactly what they used to be…

Noskypeno331d ago

The Cod games have been using an engine built in the mid 90s. Nothing wrong with using an old engine if they update it. Bioshock used UE2 and looked better than most UE3 games. Arkham knight used UE3 and looked better than most UE4 games.

I would give my left nut for an infinite undiscovery pc port

Sh it does suck but I enjoyed star ocean 6 the most out of any game last year. I thought it was solid af start to finish. My favorite game that year.

I'd love for Sony to get ahold of them.

shinoff2183331d ago

To late to edit but I just wanted to add not every game that comes out needs to push a consoles boundaries. Star ocean 6 looked fairly good to me.

shammgod331d ago

Yeah. They definitely squeezed every drop out of that engine for SO6. It was a fun game

nitus10330d ago (Edited 330d ago )

I assume you are talking about "Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness" which I do have and am still playing. IMHO it is a good game but for some reason I still prefer "Star Ocean: The Last Hope" that I played on my PS3.

As a side note I have "Star Ocean: Till the End of Time" (PS2 version) which I played on my first gen PS3 but unfortunatly the Australian version of the PS3 did not have full backwards capability like the US version did. I got so far in the game and hit a bug (advancement to a new area between two mountains) that prevented further play.

While I agree that the combat in Star Ocean 5's combat is pretty fun, saying that its story is more enjoyable than its predecessors is highly debatable. Also, it's not just the technical issues the game suffers from.

Gaming4Life19811551d ago

Star Ocean 5 was garbage and I was a huge star ocean fan.

Docmortem1551d ago

Completely disagree the games I played from the list all deserve their scores (Star Ocean, Nier, Tales of Zesteria, Type-0). While there are certainly people that love these games, they have flaws in many categories, that justify those scores.
Star Ocean especially bored the hell out of me. Lame story and face roll battle system (I finished the game anyway). These games are really niche and when rated by a broader public, fall short. In my opinion even in their own genre.

solideagle1551d ago

I personally have not played any game below 80 and thought wow this should have been 80-90 game. The only game I thought should have been 90 was Shadow Hearts II: Covenant. I am pretty sure there will be some games but average score usually is pretty good indication.

do you recommend any JRPG which you think were good/amazing but it didn't score well? I just purchased Tokyo xanadu but it seems way too slow like trails game but trail at least has good story. I will give it a shot

rainslacker1551d ago

I think there were quite a few JRPG games that got hit with lower meta scores last gen when all these reviewers were on their anti-anime tropes kick. Not that they should get up there into the high 80s or 90s, but they weren't 60-70 games either.

That's mostly died off this gen, thankfully

WickedLester1551d ago

Ni No Kuni 2 is way better than it's metascore.

solideagle1551d ago

I think Ni No Kuni 2 combat is pretty generic but if you add all DLCs then its combat is pretty awesome. I purchased the complete edition so I can say DLC changes the combat completely

FinalAeonX1551d ago

Ni no Kuni 1 is way better than its metascore

Father__Merrin1551d ago

meta scores are rubbish best ignore them. many gems out there

solideagle1551d ago (Edited 1551d ago )

can you please name few?

Kocurstvo1550d ago (Edited 1550d ago )

Useless to argument troll, but e.g. Eat Lead is hilarious and extremely funny, yet mediocre on metastupids.... Lords of the Fallen, Strange brigade... I could name hundreds
