Mario Kart 8's success on Wii U can't be question especially when nearly half of all the Wii U owners around the world have purchased the game.
Sold more than any Xbox One/PS4 exclusive in a shorter space of time & people still mock the shitty Wii U... Unbelievable!!!
I dont get it either. I guess it hurts when an "inferior" opponent whips you a$$. There is a long time to go in this generation, but I wish people would start realizing that just because you can beat hookers on the PS4 and run over a million zombies on the XB1 does not mean they are great. I say this because a kiddie super mario racing game just whipped those others games big time.
Maybe you guys should just enjoy the fact that this is great new for the Wii U and stop focusing all your energy on the haters. Just turns you guys into haters as well. Geez, enjoy it. That's an amazing attach rate. How is it that the first post is someone saying "See I told you!" Only a FOOL would think Mario Kart wouldn't sell like crazy, have you looked at the past MK sales figures?!?! MK has wide reach appeal. I'm sorry, but you guys sound so bitter.
mortal kombat is a amazing
@ThatOneGuyThere My fingers " a are crossed" that Mortal Kombat X will be good, that last one certainly was. The new Fatalities, by those who have seen it, "a are just brutal"... maybe too graphic. I hopes it's as "a amazing" as the last release, but I doubt the attach rate will be any where "a as high" as Mario Kart 8.
42% attach rate is Legendary really. How many other games EVER had that kind of attach rate. * Yea it has to do with the somewhat lack of games, but it's also a solid game. I'd imagine Smash Brothers could be the game that tops that or maybe even Legend of Zelda, but it's kind of hard to beat the mass appeal of Mario Kart, especially when it's as good as MK8 is.
Mario Kart Wii, SSBM and SM64 has great attach rate in the past.
Nothing will ever top Wii Sports attach rate.
I know I'll get a bunch of disagrees for this, but... "42% attach rate is Legendary really. How many other games EVER had that kind of attach rate. " You have to wonder how much this figure is inflated by the Mario Kart 8 free game promotion. Just looking at various forums you can see some users bought anywhere from 2 to 9 copies of the game just to obtain Club Nintendo codes and either redeem them for the game or sell them for about $15 a code. This isn't that shocking considering how many deals / how high the trade in value is. Like Best Buy is currently offering $36 (they were offering $40) to trade in Mario Kart 8, with Walmart offering just under $40 (at one point it was $59.xx). Combine this with Amazon selling it for $48.61 (can be matched at most retailers), Best Buy GCU dropping it to $48 always, Target having some preorder a game for $1 and get $15 off a game (dropping MK8 to $45) / spend $40 and do an instore pick up for $10 off, K-Mart / Sears typically having $5 off $50 or $10 in credit with $50 purchase, and other deals essentially made LoZ / Mario / Pikmin 3 / Wii Party, approx. 60 CN coins and $5 eShop coupon if you have DDP only $10 or less a piece and a no brainer if you wanted these games. Needless to say, this was such a good deal that you had to have inflated the attachment rate, especially if Europe (who also did a free game promo) had similar deals / trade in rates. Again, not trying to burst any bubbles, but you do have to look at the facts and accept that this promotion HAD to have inflated the stats on some level.
Yea, but most high selling games had some kind of "thing" that went along with it. The Wii Sports game was super high selling because of the bundle. Yea the 2nd one sold a ton on it's own as well, but the bundle helped. It's still a good indicator that GAMES are the thing that makes somebody want a console. Wii U may not get a ton of games, but certain games it will have, appeal to so many people.
It's Mario! What I mean by that is, of course, it's going to have a ton of sales or popularity. I don't care for it, but if there was another Crash Team Racing, I would personally be surprised if it wasn't as popular. I'm in the minority (unfortunately). I love Mario games (GALAXY!), but I really don't care for the racing ones. I can see the appeal, but it's not for me. All I know is that it might never fail based on the name; not on the name alone, I understand.
You just came across as a rotten little fanboy. If its that bloody fantastic then i suggest you go play it instead of posting pure drivel on n4g.
It's great to see that sales didn't drop off a cliff shortly after launch of the game. That attach rate is the result of good advertisement; here's hoping Nintendo shows the same kind of advertisement attention to Hyrule Warriors and Bayonetta 2.
good job nintendo. so far 36.67 million wii u software shipped total. for instance wii has shipped 900 million software
Wii U master race.
