Reicast - Dreamcast Emulator Released on the OUYA

After months of testing, the program has been officially released on the OUYA.

I still haven't gotten arround to getting DC emulation working on my PC.

Mostly because it's virtually impossible to find the few games I'm interested in via ANY means these days. Well, without paying offensively inflated prices on eBay.

Fortunately the one DC game I've most wanted to play is being remade on PS3, and due out in a week or two. Actually, I should go ahead and see when it is since I've got the money to buy it sitting in Paypal right now....

See I told everyone here on N4G that Android is catching up on PC when it comes to console emulation.

Is that Dreamcast game coming out 2 weeks from now MS Gundam 0079: Rise from the Ashes?

But isn't Rise from the Ashes being remade along with every other OYW-related game? Is the Dreamcast version that good?

That's the game.

My only concern is that the Side Story remakes all look to use the same engine--and its hard to imagine a single game engine adequately replicating Encounters in Space, Lost War Colony and azeonic Front, plus Rise from the Ashes and the Genesis games.

Also, none of the trailers or screens I've seen show off the first person cockpit view, which is the chief appeal of Rise.

Meh, i'm not getting too excited yet. It's going to take some time before this becomes truly worth it. Dreamcast emulation isn't that great on the PC so i don't know if it will ever be great on the OUYA. I hope so but looking at recent youtube videos they have a lot of work to do before i bother with it. A lot of games have so many glitches, i don't see how they could have sorted it so soon.

I hope they do get it right though because playing DC games on the OUYA would be pretty sweet.

Simply proof of concept, Ouya is too slow to emulate the Dreamcast at fullspeed.

Skies Of Arcadia here I go! Did anyone actually found all the hidden treasures without using the guide? Damn... I found %99 of them on my own, a friend of mine help me with the only one I never found. Those were good times :)

SOA is one of my all time favourite games I completed it over 5 times easily. I found pretty much 100% the game but did use a guide towards the end.

I next gen skies would be my dream come true.

If a medium spec pc can't emulate dc games at 100% then there is very little hope for the quality from a console that is basically a low spec computer.

Honestly, if it were true that it had a full speed emulator I would get it. But of course it doesn't.

I was able to run DC games pretty well years ago even on my old rig before my i7 920 upgrade in 2008 and even that's not the greatest today, i'd say near perfect for the ones i tried.. Chankast and Null DC.

All you need is a decent processor and a good GPU.. hell i don't think i had any game breaking issues running DC emulation on even my old 8800 GT cards.

I don't think you could even compare a ouya to even THAT. Think about it.... when you see something like "the ouya can do this" or "now available on ouya" just think "hmmm can my cell phone do that?"

I don't remember seeing blazing dc emulation on my smart phone recently, so I just predict that this isn't going to be as good as people expect.
