GamePro Review: Sweet, sweet Nectar: Haze hits the PS3

During the eighties, former First Lady Nancy Reagan pleaded with youngsters to "just say no" to drugs. Twenty years later, Haze flies in the face of Mrs. Reagan's pleas to stay clean with drug-addled gameplay that delivers some genuine thrills. But you needn't grow concerned because this game is far from addictive.

NOW THIS IS WHAT I WAS EXPECTING. Leave it to Gamepro to hit the nail on the head. So it's average, does that mean it's bad? Nope, just average. Good on Gamepro for not just giving into the temptation to bash an overhyped exclusive and rather simply review it for what it is.

Lifendz5848d ago

I was really hoping this game would be more than just "average." All the talk of utilizing the PS3 or pushing the system to its limits and we get a very pedantic looking FPS. Sigh.....COD4 is still the standard. Until KZ2 or R2 come out at least.

ISA_Scum5848d ago

I'm not happy that it's not the next step. But for a game I was looking forward to, being playable can suffice.

The Haze stuff this year feels like Lair all over again. Generally average or below average reviews, one or two incredibly negative reviews, and gamers themselves sounding just as randomly between "it sucks and the designers kick babies" and "it's actually quite good."

Angelitos5848d ago

The reviews fot this game is very random. Everybody needs to play this game by themselves, and to see if by them themselves ,like the game.

TheWickedOne5848d ago

Like I said before I enjoyed the Demo, sure it was a little cheesy. I probably be picking this up shortly.

trancefreak5848d ago

come on haze you can do it you meta score haze gone up a few clicks. I just cancelled my pre order for mgs4 at gamestop but i still have a feeling ill be buying it for my kids they ask me everyday. blah

After playing the game
single player - story is WEAK... painfully so
but the graphics are better then many are saying and in some places are down right excellent (average graphics for an FPS I feel)

Multiplayer is great - the asymmetric mechanics are fun and lead to definitely different tactical situations
Co-op... is ok but you have to suffer through the storyline again and you can't skip cut scenes (this game would score a full point higher from me If I could skip em!)

Overall a very Playable Multiplayer FPS with a story to avoid like the plague.

on my scale: abominable bad mediocre <-- good excellent

(to understand my ranking system side arrow is on determines if better or worse and arrow direction indicates better or worse then what so in this case... better then mediocre but not good enough to be good)

PoSTedUP5848d ago

the story line isnt weak at all, not if you follow along with it. play it on hard, set the controls to your likeing, and pay attention to the story line, it makes sence and i love it. i cant wait to play it on very hard : )...............online is crazy......gunfights are crazy expecially the nectar disruptions lol. all around it was worth my 60 bucks. im glad i went with my instincs cause their was something up with the 4.5's and 6.0's...its all bullsh*t and i will never look at another review besides famitsu's he has earned his rights to review in my eyes. HAZE-only possible on ps3 baby!

donator5848d ago

Just to be a devil's advocate... wouldn't it be better to watch the cinematic than a loading screen?

JoelR5848d ago

Donator - not when one is 15 mins long Oo

Top 10 Bad Games by Good Studios

Alex S. from Link-Cable writes: "When shopping for new video games you can often trust the name publisher or developer on the box to be an indication of the quality of the game. Names like Nintendo, Square Enix, Sony Interactive Entertainment, Capcom, Xbox Game Studios and Sega are world famous because they helped shape the industry by releasing some of the most defining video games of all time. Though sometimes even these great gaming houses stumble and put out a stinker."

Splatterhouse remake . Loved the og’s at the arcade growing up . Hell the best thing about the remake was the og,s were included . And left alive by Square . That game had so much potential , but the gameplay was worse horrendous .

Game-ur1421d ago

once Great studios getting destroyed is actually common. happened with ND and Last of Us2, Bioware and Mass Effect Andromeda/Anthem, Bungle and Destiny .

BeRich2331422d ago

Fuse should have been on that list (Insomniac Games)

Yui_Suzumiya1422d ago

Splatterhouse remake kicked ass

merryja1422d ago

I personally don't like these games.

East76lands1422d ago

I'm pretty much certain that any Sonic game that comes out will be terrible, I've not enjoyed one since the original side-scrolling days of the MegaDrive.

HarryMasonHerpderp1422d ago

Then you might like a recent sonic "sonic mania".

jaymacx1422d ago

For this Topic it says Good Studios that make bad games. Sonic Team hasn't been good in years.
