When browser based gaming was still in it's infancy, Quake Live basically invented the idea of the facebook game, a browser game connected to a social network. They didn't actually use websites like facebook as a platform and that could be a point against them.
Now they're ditching browsers? What's the point of it then? I already have all the Quakes offline. It's like the core of the whole idea is being abandoned.
The main reason, from what I can tell, is that browsers like FIrefox and Chrome are making it harder to run third party plugins.
