Let's Manipulate Grand Theft Auto V's BAWSAQ Stock Market For Fun And Profit

Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto V features many ways to earn money. Most of them are illegal, naturally, but one way of bringing in some quick money in a totally legal way is to manipulate the in-game stock market. Many of the companies in Los Santos and Blaine County have a presence on the Liberty City National and BAWSAQ markets. LCN's rise and fall is determined by the events in your own personal game, but the real potential for manipulation comes from the online BAWSAQ market which is influenced by the actions of every person playing GTA V while connected to Rockstar's Social Club network. This makes it possible for large groups of players to conspire outside of the game to buy up large amounts of a given stock, drive up its value, and then sell off shares en masse. It's the ultimate pump-and-dump maneuver. The catch is being able to mobilize a large enough group to make the activity worthwhile. That's where Reddit comes into the picture.

Dumped all my money for all 3 characters into Ammu-Nation ready for when people buy guns and ammo on GTA Online.

MattG-PTB3860d ago

I had the same idea. Hawk And Little (guns) did very well over the weekend for me.

grumpc3860d ago

ohhh nice hadn't though of that, any tips on when you suggest selling?

GarrusVakarian3860d ago (Edited 3860d ago )

That's the risky part...knowing when to sell. Im going to give it at least a few days before i consider selling. I would like to see at least a 50% return investment in my share prices before i pull out.

Can't wait until groups of people start controlling the stocks and then others have to send out hits to stop them, and you get group/team wars and such all because of fake in game money and greed.

Can we steal cars and sell them for money Online ?

I know you can't in single player...at least I think you can't.

the worst part of GTA V which even shouldn't be there... man playing with stocks is such fun /s

GarrusVakarian3860d ago (Edited 3860d ago )

I smell someone who doesn't get the stock market so he badmouths it instead.

Its actually alot of fun once you get the hang of it, i didn't like it at first either.

You gotta admit its impressive though, the game has 2 fully functioning stock markets. One affected by your game and your game only and one affected by the GTA5 community, that is pretty damn impressive.

Nothing like investing in a company, then finding trucks of the oposing company and destroying them and watching your stocks rise, lol. Also, listening to the radio for tips on what is dipping and what is rising.

Its a cool feature, why moan at additional features? Would you prefer it wasn't in the game?

AllroundGamer3860d ago

yeah well sorry, but in an action game i want to play a game instead of watching the stock market... the sad about it they forced it on people, cause you need to use it to get the money to buy the golf club. But i hope there will be many online players like you checking their stocks constantly on their phone, so i kill them easily when they do so :D

iamnsuperman3860d ago

I find the stocks thing fluctuates in small amounts and yet I hear people talking about how it fluctuates by quite large amounts. I would interested to see how it really works as I have the impression it doesn't work by what everyone does and is just totally random/within your country or region

GarrusVakarian3860d ago

Bawsaq (lol) is influenced by the community via the R* social club. LCN is only affected by your in game actions.

Go to the GTA5 forums for tips on the Bawsaq stock market. Ive invested 26 million for each character into Ammu Nation so that when online drops tomorrow, people will be buying ammo and guns left right an centre so my stocks will shoot up in price and i will be too rich for my own good.....digitally anyway :D

Well considering this stuff (and much, much, much, much, much, much, much) more is going on in the REAL MARKETS.

Perhaps we should be more concerned with THAT.

More interested in money than giving fans what they want. Such a shame

CrimsonWing692d ago

With the amount of money they generated, I just don’t understand the scrubbing of this. It would’ve been fantastic for fans.

Profchaos2d ago

I really want to know who drove the decision to focus on multiplayer was it Rockstar or take two.

Because when online started taking off many of the studio leads began having falling outs and leading including a founder

Demetrius2d ago

Ikr mfs that greedy it's ridiculous

andy852d ago

This makes me sad. Trevor was one of my favourite characters in gaming

One of the reason I believe once gta 6 release, most of us thoroughly play it, enjoy the world they crafted then after that no offline support, no dlc at all

Ex-Rockstar Dev Finally Explains Why Small Planes Randomly Crashed in GTA San Andreas

Former Rockstar Games Technical Director Obbe Vermeij has finally revealed why some planes would randomly crash in GTA: San Andreas.

Profchaos20d ago

This fly by feature was on the cutting room floor due to the random plane crashes and it's one of those things I'm so thankful made it into the final version as these random fly by and crashes make the world seem more alive on the extremely limited PS2 hardware you needed everything you could possibly get in a open world to convey that feeling.

And accross hundreds of hours of gameplay I probably died around 3 times as a result of these fly by failures but I loved every time it happened

isarai20d ago (Edited 20d ago )

It made the world feel more human, and honestly kinda insane that even today with all these open world games, almost no one can capture that like R* even when compared to their ps2 games

Skuletor18d ago

Lol, I remember those. I vaguely remember dying from one crashing into my car once too.
