Nothing like insulting your readers. I prefer console over pc, it's just preference, not everyone has to have top of the line graphics cards every 3 to 6 months that's just dumb. New graphics cards alone cost more than the new consoles, are the graphics better? yes, but does it matter to me? no, I prefer consoles for gaming. just my opinion.

My preference is the PC and yet I'm still using the same GTX570 that I bought a couple of years ago. When I exit a game, there's so much other stuff I can do with a PC. I don't have to go to another device to go online, then to another device to edit some pictures or pick up another device to watch some Youtube videos. Not only that I don't have to wait for another generation of PC that finally can sync to my touch screen devices in order to be able to type something.

Where do you get the idea that PC gamers change their cards every several months? The very concept is unsustainable no matter how hardcore the PC gamer is.

My friends that play pc games are very hardcore and this is what they do and said all their friends do the same. Didn't mean to lump all pc gamers together. As for syncing devices, I don't. I don't want to play games on the same device I edit videos or pictures, I'm just crazy that way.

I guess that's what the gaming world needs to do: stop lumping gamers, of any platform, to ONE particular group. There were times when I nearly went out and buy a high end card (not because I sorely need it but because...well, I was bored) but I wanted to see how far my 570 can go with the latest games.

I'm the opposite of the hardcore PC gamers because I want developers to support PC hardware that is lower specced than usual. I know it's hard to do so on a platform with a million configurations but it's sad to see a lot cards not fully utilized and left aside in favour of newer ones. Hopefully Valve might be able to address this.

I'd say they're one notch up. They have all the same over-zealous brand-loyalty that's for sure.

PC gamers are kind of bad in their own way though, and I think PC culture has rubbed off on consoles gamers a bit: They fetishize technology, performance and graphics to a ridiculous and juvenile level.

Smartphone users though. They take the cake. Consumer drones at their worst.

Give me a break! The majority of the hottest articles on this site since 2006 is about "cell power" "cloud power", ram this, gpu that, huma, gddr5 vs ddr3 and the endless comparisons of which multiplats have better contrast.

The only reason console gamers hate PC elitists is because there is no room for debate when it comes to pc vs consoles.

I don't really think that it is PC culture rubbing off on console gamers, so much as the fact that everybody, whether they admit it or not, cares about the visual presentation of their games.

It's not like console gamers never cared about visuals and were just corrupted by the evil PC gamers that over-fetishize graphics.

Much of the excitement surrounding the launch of new game consoles is due to the prospect of getting to see a new level of graphical detail in games.

Wow this ridiculous PC generalization of $3000 PC's that we tear apart and rebuild every year just to blow cash is simply ridiculous.

I have one of the best quad cores (i5 2500k), 2TB HDD, 120GB SSD, beautiful see through case, SLI 560 TI's, Wireless cards, top end 950 watt PSU (for future upgrades), 8GB vengeance DDR3

There is literally nothing I'm missing in my PC. It's got HDMI out, hooked to a 50" Panasonic 3DTV @ 1080p. I play literally EVERY game maxed out, even in 3D. I sit on my couch with a xbox 360 controller and i freaking RELAX like everyone else and play games.

I paid $2000-2100 for all of that including the TV. It's been my setup for almost 3 years now

$499-$599 GPU is expensive? Seriously? You're spending $400-500 on a console that has roughly 1/3 of the power that single GPU has. That GPU will last, plus in 3 years you can buy a 2nd, SLI it and have a ridiculous setup again for probably $100-150 for the extra card.

10 years easy.

I guess you missed the part about the $2000 including the cost of the Panasonic 3DTV. Good luck playing your console games on no TV.

My PC with an i5 2500k and HD 7950 could be built for around $700. That's not too much more than a PS4 or XB1. Especially when you consider you aren't going to have to pay $50 a year to game online and are going to have cheaper games on the PC.

I used my tax return because I was in college. I could have spent far less but back then I didn't know as much as I do now. I spared no expense, the point was a good PC is not much more than a console and can last a long time if you're ok not upgrading (like a console)

And to echo what star child said. I paid $10-20 for the majority of my games. arkham asylum, just cause, GTA iv etc. Some less than $10

Seriously don't get why people treat the console gamers like they're a completely different species or something, most console gamers i know also game on a pc so in's not like it's a whole other audience. I also.don't get his thing there people think PC gaming is expensive these days, you can build a good gaming rig for the same price as a console but even so you don't need an expensive gaming rig to be a PC gamer, hell most PC games i play these days are indie games that don't take that much power to run, any run of the mil modern PC can run great PC games

I agree, it's stupid to think that you're one or the other when most people are both. The only difference is where you put your time and money.

I prefer gaming on console, because on PC I spend way more time in the options menu than the game itself. I also like how convenient they are as media players, yes you can watch Netflix and films on a PC but it's not the same. And you can buy three consoles for the price of one high end PC, two for one mid end. That gives me access to more exclusives and a bigger library of games. And I love Sony and Nintendo games, they're among the very best in my mind and I can't get them on PC. (I'm not an Xbox hater, I like Halo and own an original old Xbox. But MS doesn't have enough exclusives that interests me anymore)

But that's not to say I don't game on PC, I have about a hundred games on Steam. Way more than my friends that have actual gaming rigs. I have a ThinkPad as my PC.
