Grand Theft Auto: Sacrificing social issues for gameplay

Grand Theft Auto V hit shelves on Sept. 17 and is easily the biggest game left in this generation before we see the new consoles. As is usual for a new Rockstar release, everyone is talking about it. The general opinion seems to be that Grand Theft Auto V is another well-crafted game in the series, with the expected array of improvements ranging from minor tweaks to smart new mechanics and systems. Reviews have been, for the most part, unsurprisingly positive. However, there has been one common complaint that I’ve seen brought up several times from game sites like Kotaku and Gamespot: Some people take issue with Rockstar’s continuing focus on misogynistic or racist themes in the Grand Theft Auto series.

Sorry lefties, but games and media in general don't need to be made to appease your irrational beliefs, and they don't require your seal of approval.

The hysterical people and pressure groups who try to restrict or control creativity through intimidation and violence like the leftists do, are nothing but disgusting autocrats.

There's no reasoning with the kind of filth who post this crap on Kotaku and other clownish media sites, because they and their ridiculous and irrational beliefs are beyond reason. The only thing we can do is support and reassure the developers when the left grab their pitchforks.

I agree with you except for the "Sorry lefties" part. If you think conservatives don't get up in arms over GTA then you're insane.

Especially trad-cons and religious folks. Whatever the case, they act the way they act because they're control freaks who just cannot accept reality as is hell-bent on distorting it to fit their ideals.

In GTA's case, its themes are pretty much consistent with the reality of the criminal underworld which happens to be racist, sexist and offensive.

But GTA always being this way *is* a relatively OK excuse, right? If society knows what they're getting into with this series, and we all know that money speaks, then Rockstar will keep on putting out games like this if we're buying them.
