The release of Grand Theft Auto V yesterday brought to the forefront an apocalyptic scenario. Dead Space 3 is pretty terrific if you ask me. The co-op is a blast. It's a shame that game was shunned the way it was.

whats with these slaves...what is even the point of buying a nex gen rnow....first year for new hardware is always trash .not to mention the only next gen title so far im interested in is quantum break and infamous(and ffxv lol) .none are nowhere near realease.it would be stupid to sell your current console before fall next year earliest.

Obsolete? The user base for PS3 and 360 is at an all time high, not even counting the many people that will get a PS3 due to FIFA 13 or GTA V.

Sure, let's launch release it for Xbone and PS4 when there are literally only 2-3 million consoles of each available instead of the 157 million (78m 360, 79 ps3) current gen consoles and THEN re-release it in 6 months with high end shaders, graphics and extra missions for PC, Xbone and PS4... That wouldn't make sense at all, would it? </sarcasm>

With next gen hardware coming out, people will be trading in or craigslisting their current systems for the cash for next gen games and systems.
This will give new people current gen experience.

Also, I'd expect to see some big retail sales on hardware for current gen this holiday season.

Ill be getting ps4 but ill still have TLOU bioshock gta v ni no kuni and wwe13. GTA V is not obsolete whatsoever. Nor will it be anytime soon. The amount of content is outrageous.

As they have done with previous titles, Rockstar will be supporting GTA5 for at least the next 18 months, releasing patches and DLC.

I'm sorry, but if you think current gen will become obsolete in two months' time, you're delusional.

I should point out that many gamers still own (and play) their 'obsolete' consoles. In fact, this time last week I was playing Sonic 2 on the Mega Drive (yes, Mega Drive, not PS3) with my girlfriend.

I should also point out that GTA V is the reason why many won't be buying a PS4 until next year. That's before considering other games like The Last of Us, or even PS3 versions of next gen's ACIV, Battlefield 4, Watch Dogs and more besides.

From the sounds of it I'm in the minority here. I for one am getting ps4 day 1 and not looking back. Any current gen new release will most likely be released on next gen too, so I don't know why I would by the lesser version. Now, I say this because I have no backlog of games. I've beaten tlos, ac3, splinter cell blacklist and will buy batman next month and knock that out in a couple weeks. Once Nov 15th hits I have 5 games preordered that I will be taking home. Plus infamous, the division, the order, destiny are all coming soon. Sadly, my ps3 will be collecting dust.
