In the space of just a few months, there's been at least two large-scale films announced with substantial backing behind them. Due to begin production in 2014 is World of Warcraft - based on the hugely-successful MMORPG. Assassin's Creed is also due for the cinematic treatment and Michael Fassbender has been charging forward with this, or rather pushing silently through crowds.
Blizzard Entertainment has announced the opening of beta registrations for “World of Warcraft: The War Within,” inviting players to explore new subterranean worlds beneath Azeroth.
Danish from eXputer: "Despite Blizzard's attempt to give a fresh new spin to World of Warcraft, some fans still seem to be stuck in the past."
HG writes: "Blizzard is usually pretty bad at keeping secrets, but the company somehow managed to keep this one under wraps until now. Plunderstorm is a special limited-time event that’s basically World of Warcraft’s take on the Battle Royale genre."
They first have to make a GOOD video game movie that is a commercial success.
They will be, just wait a while. Our generation needs to get a little older, and when we get into Hollywood we will make good movies.
Right now, Hollywood big wigs just don't like video games. there is no respect for them there. So we wont get a good movie because they will always blame the game.
A movie on World of Warcraft is a little late imo. They should have had that one going around Wrath of the Lich King. Now it'll basically be another Kung Fu Panda sequel.
No because 99.9 % of vidogame stories are terrible. Last time I checked shitty screenplays make for shitty movies.
Not saying comic books are THAT much better, but they have to drop the BS like TDK did. I would put TDK in the crime drama section like Chinatown or godather and not with the shit like watchmen or 300.
Get Bioshock with Paul Thomas Anderson and now we'll set up the oscar races.
