First official PS4 racing wheel announced: the Thrustmaster T80 DriveClub Edition

VVV: "When Evolution Studios declared that Drive Club will support all PS4 wheels, it was surely only a matter of time before a wheel designed specifically for the PS4 would be announced. And now here it is: the Thrustmaster T80 Drive Club Edition."

spaceg0st4309d ago

i'll give YOU a thrustmaster! hey ohhh!!!

_FantasmA_4309d ago

Hmm never had a racing wheel because I never really liked racing games that much. But lately I have been interested in them an I want to see if a wheel will make the games more immersive while still being easy to use. Is a wheel really worth it or is a controller just as good? I may also condider the PS4 gun if the shooters support it like Move was supported by quite a few games that I have.

Pintheshadows4309d ago

A wheel is most definitely worth for a game like GT5. The difference is night and day but don't get a cheap one.

THEDON82z14309d ago

You are so right, I have never been a big racing fan except for BURNOUT....but since PS4 has been announced I have a day 1 purchase, I feel for some reason inclined to want one for all my next-gen games that are racers, and that I do decide to purchase..So after looking at this one I like it but will wait until something like this comes along with force-feed back,I don't really care about the clutch..just give me everything this wheel has with force-feedback!!!

spaceg0st4309d ago

Seriously, why buy a wheel without force feedback?!? Crazy

THEDON82z14309d ago

@spaceg0st : exactly what I was thinking!!!!

WeAreLegion4309d ago

Agreed. Force feedback makes the game so much better.

Have either of you played Burnout: Paradise with a wheel? It's awesome! Better yet, have you played it with the Move racing wheel? Go try it, if you can. It's the most fun way to play the game!

_FantasmA_4309d ago

My first racing game was Midnight Club 2 and I still haven't found a better racing series. I have all the games except the first one. Burnout was okay, but I hated the time trials that some of them had, I just like taking down people and the crash events. The fist NFS Underground was good also, but too bad EA started sucking after that. Hopefully Midnight Club 5 will support this wheel.

When you start with a wheel, you probably will feel uncomfortable, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty sweet.

THEDON82z14309d ago

Kool, when the time comes I will keep that in mind!!!

Enemy4309d ago

Oh man I would love to play Driveclub with this.

zeroskie4309d ago

if this wheel doesn't have force feedback, I would recommend buying a Logitech wheel for the PS3/PC. The difference is night and day.

NaughtyGods4309d ago (Edited 4309d ago )

A stupid question: how do you handle with this? I know that on PC you just mount the wheel on a table and the gas under your table, but thats not the case with a console. Help.

aLucidMind4309d ago

Place the thrustmaster between your legs.

TIER1xWOLFPACKx4309d ago

It's exactly the same with console you mount it to a table, there is no difference between pc and console wheels they both mount the same

NaughtyGods4309d ago

my point is that i don't have a table at my livingroom, only a couch and the tv standing on a table far away.

shutUpAndTakeMyMoney4309d ago (Edited 4309d ago )

I am gonna use this to play infamous!

Sharingan_no_Kakashi4309d ago

Please give this man some bubbles lol.

Skate-AK4309d ago

On PS2 I played Mortal Kombat 3 with a Guitar Hero guitar. You couldn't move but the frets work for punching and kicking.

_QQ_4309d ago

I'm going to play infamous with the power glove.

_FantasmA_4309d ago

I'm going to use to pwn people in Killzone Shadowfall. I'm going to murder some PC elitists also in Battlefield 4 because wheel>mouse and keyboard. LOL jk.

Classic PS4 Racer DriveClub Is Now a Decade Old

PushSquare:

DriveClub, the legendary PS4 racer from shuttered Runcorn studio Evolution, has such an interesting story.

Originally announced alongside the PS4, the game had been intended as a launch title – we even played it in a big London church Sony had rented to showcase the new system prior to its release.

Evolution was done dirty... DC is still the most stunning visual game of its generation. They certainly deserved better in the end.

VenomUK246d ago (Edited 246d ago )

DriveClub was pretty and I loved the experience of driving in the rain, it was immersive. I had some good races with people from an old forum, but at times I found it to be a bit boring. MotorStorm was such a fun game to play and I loved the controls - it would make sense to remaster that.

DarXyde246d ago

I'd give the visual showcase award of the last generation to The Order: 1886. That game was immaculate.

Uncharted 4 was also absolutely insane, and perhaps manages to use the PS4's power in extremely clever ways.

jznrpg245d ago

It didn’t get good reviews unfortunately

obidanshinobi245d ago

Cause the game was mediocre at best, and surpassed in pretty much every area by Forza Horizon 2.

IRetrouk245d ago

Apart from visuals, driving model, weather effects, only thing forza had was an open world...

Inverno245d ago (Edited 245d ago )

It's multiplayer component was the only thing struggling at launch but the game was still perfectly playable offline. Done dirty is an understatement because how many games after came out with broken online components that got a pass? Now games with an SP and MP get separate reviews for SP and MP smh! SONY shut them down as if Evo had been bleeding money instead of putting out great games. Their fate was undeserved and they were the targets of a media smear campaign due to that one trailer.

Knushwood Butt246d ago

Loved it.
Now here's a game that would benefit from a remaster.
4K, 60 FPS
I'd buy it.

ravens52246d ago

Might have to fire it up. Got it day 1, it was great to me.

outsider1624245d ago

See? Another reason why physical is important. Going all digital will have you miss out games like this.

Gabrielmpf246d ago

I loved tackling the leaderboards. It's a shame they couldn't even keep them.

Yi-Long246d ago

Brilliant game, I really miss it, and it deserved so much better than what Sony did to it.
Most important reason I liked it; It was FUN. That’s it. The actual gameplay, throwing a car around corners, the challenging AI opponents, the entertaining tracks which were peak-design, etc etc, it was above all just FUN to play.
