A look at driving games from the Mega Drive to the PS4’s DriveClub.

Punk and Lizard writes:"Everyone has their favourite type of game they play and find the most rewarding. Super Mario, Sonic, not even Lara Croft did it for me, racing games are what got me started on the road to gaming."

they may not rank as high as SHMUPS but i do like them. I can respect the realism of the racing SIM but my preferred type is the arcade racer.

the unrealistic nature of arcade style (from outrun to sf rush) appeals to me. I just like the simplicity of pick up and play where when you crash you bounce around the screen and can continue where you left off and manage a come from behind victory.

Daytona USA is hands down my favorite arcade racer.

yeah there is nothing like a good fast arcade racer. I should have talked out MotorHead also, simple and fast. Love Kiss also!

Porsche Challenge still looks insane !

I clicked source thinking there was no way this would be a bad read.

Such a passionate racing game fan that the author recalls the days when Gran Turismo 2 came out on PS2. I thought maybe he hit 2 instead of 3 by accident and the site just has a crap proof-reader/editor, but then he said "with it's 600 cars"........nope he was talking about GT2.

I closed the tab there. I was trying to deal with the poorly written article, but wrong facts also?

I know what you mean. Road Rash wasn't 3D (The MD version), Porsche Challenge only had the Boxter and GT2 came out on PS1.
He also fails to mention anything about Mario Kart, Virtua Racing, or even Wipeout.

thanks for the heads up, sorry you did not enjoy the feature.

i hope namco bandai does a ridge racer 8 for ps4. (not the bug bear crap unbounded)

Are you tired of relying on your birth month to get insight into your life? Why not use something a little more reliable, like the best RPG that was released the year you were born? It's like astrology, but less nerdy somehow.

The mid-90s were so great for RPGs. So many alternatives could have been chosen for most years.

Vote for your favourite retro Mega Man game at the bottom of the article! 🎮😄

Hardiman1844d ago (Edited 1844d ago )

I enjoyed all the NES games, I think 1-5. 2 is probably my favorite with 3 coming in close behind. I also liked the one with Skull Man or whater his name was, maybe 4 or 5. I also love, love the music! Some of the best from that era!

I got both collections for my PS4 and play them often. I never played the X series so I'm going to be getting those collections as well.

crazyaejay1844d ago

Nice! I'm sure you'll love them. Skull Man is in 4, btw.

ZeekQuattro1844d ago

I always got my mom to rent MM 3 over MM 2. I like the music and the bosses in 3 the best.

meganick1843d ago

Mega Man 3 is the better game, but Mega Man 2 has better music.

DVAcme1843d ago

Mega Man 2, no contest. Don't get me wrong, 3 is great too, but it was HELLA LONG, and some stages were pretty bullshittily designed, like Needle Man 2. Mega Man 2 had better pacing, better designed stages, the BEST music in the series and the best videogame weapon ever

Concertoine1843d ago

I remember 3 having terrible slowdown too.
