Bayonetta 2,The Power Of The Wii U

The first Bayonetta brought us an onslaught of crazy angel killing mixed with monsters from Japanese history. Couple this with the insane combat, drawing heavily on the Devil May Cry series for inspiration, and you had an incredibly impressive game. Now Bayonetta will see a return, exclusively on the Wii U, in Bayonetta 2, featuring even more of our two favourite activities from the original, but now there's daemons too.

Bring it, I will settle for more gameplay in a new trailer since the game has a 2014 release.

jairusmonillas3939d ago

Bayonetta 1 wasn't that good, and it only sold less than 800k on xbox and only 1m for ps3. that's for over 150m consoles combine. Just imagine the tragedy sales for Bayonetta 2 on Wii U. it's going to be even less than 200k.

Rikitatsu3939d ago

"Bayonetta 1 wasn't that good"

Yes it was. It's the best in the genre. I'm not sure the second game will be as good, since Kamiya is not directing, but I'm sure it will be a great game since its using the amazing formula the first game brought to the table.

jairusmonillas3939d ago

You're only saying that cause its Wii U exclusive.

Baka-akaB3939d ago (Edited 3939d ago )

He's a die hard platinum games and kamiya fan , so no i'm sure he's saying that precisely because he isnt directing .

He did say it will still be excellent .

And like it or not Bayonetta , however limited its sales was , still did better than games from established franchises such as NG3 or DmC (this one on 3 platforms).

It's a pity it didnt sell more , but at least it got a following praising it , however cult it might be , the others ? not so much

Tontus3938d ago

I didn't think it was that good either, best in the genre? That depends. Are God of War & Bayonetta even in the same genre? I know both are hack n' slash but Bayonetta is just action and God of War is action-adventure, a.k.a. it has developed characters, an actual plot and a reason to move from A to B to C unlike Bayonetta where you're flung all over the place and it's driven solely by gameplay.

I've always considered Bayonetta's competition to be other action Japanese hack 'n slashes that don't have developed stories or characters like DMC, Ninja Gaiden etc and I'd agree that it is much better than those. In terms of action-adventure hack 'n slashers like God of War, Castlevania, Dante's Inferno, Darksiders etc, God of War wipes the floor with the competition and owns it, even a weak God of War like GoW:A still outsells everything else with ease and scores better than most of the competition. So if you forget about action vs action-adventure God of War is the best in the genre.

I don't think Bayonetta 2 will be as good as the first, different director and the studio have been working on so many games I can't see how they can possibly be giving Bayonetta 2 their full dedication.

@Tontus

I remember RIkitatsu posting nothing but Platinum games news all over n4g at one point of time, so he may be just a tad bit biased when he says "It's the best in the genre."

I agree God of War is the best in the gener when you consider EVERYTHING. Graphics, Story, Universe, Setting, Gameplay, Acting, everything in God of War is just top tier. However, Bayonetta takes the crown when it comes to Gameplay for the genre easily (much to Riki's delight).

Go get a girlfriend *if you can* Sony Drone

Theyellowflash303939d ago

@jairusmonillas

Monster Hunter, Lego City, ZombiU, New Super Mario Bros, all surpassed 200K

Ports like Batman Arkham City and Assassin's Creed 3 hit 200K with digital sales factored in.

Bayonetta 2 will easily sell more than 200K.

Qrphe3939d ago

So it sold around 2 million copies and that's bad? Ok guy

Tontus3938d ago

It sold about 400K-500K copies at around full price and the rest were sold at bargain bin prices. So even though 2 million sounds like a lot, it took too long and 75-80% of units sold at a very cheap price.

So yeah, it's not terrible but it's not great either, if it was Bayonetta 2 would be coming to the PS3, 360 & Wii U.

young7yang3939d ago

The reason I got a Wii U was because of Bayonetta!

when it comes to games of this type the only games that come close are metal gear rising, lord of shadows and vanquish.

So you are wrong!

A game does not have to sell 30 million copies to be good.. I am in the minority but i cannot stand call of duty.. i prefer the much less popular killzone and resistance... game sells do not make a game good or bad!

Forget next-gen consoles, I have never been this happy with a home console

brodychet3939d ago

i'd like to see you with a ps4. heh

brodychet3939d ago

Damn, ton of disagrees.

Just saying, if he's so excited for the Wii U, he'd probably love the PS4 .

O_o i don't see what's wrong with that lmao

starfox793939d ago

Same here and the GAMEPAD is an asset for using the internet ect and netflix love it sold my ipad because the browser was better on wiiu.....

RM-TatoTiburon3939d ago

keep fighting between ps4 and xbox one, none of them will have this babe...can't wait for you Bayonetta

jairusmonillas3939d ago

That's funny, Bayonetta 1 was on both PS3 and 360. If anything Nintendo is the last one to experience how horrible and overrated Bayonetta is.

Summons753939d ago

You are one butthurt troll aren't you? Bayonetta was a great experience, it's people like you who troll a game without even playing it that killed sales for the game. That and of people weren't so set Olin their comfort zone of call of duty to experience what actual game design is.

Theyellowflash303939d ago

Bayonetta has a 90% average on metacritic. Explain to me how it's horrible?

mii-gamer3938d ago

@yellowflash because it is now on a Nintendo system. If it were on the ps4 he would be singing a different tune. This dude is always shitting on anything that is not a sony product

Why Bayonetta 3 Is a Step Down From Its Predecessor

Many fans have been expressing their disappointment with Bayonetta 3. Here's why the recently released game is a clear step down from Bayonetta 2.

MadLad502d ago (Edited 502d ago )

Yet the Switch is much more powerful than the Wii U - the platform the second game released on. So you're just being negative to be negative with that comment.

anast502d ago

The voice acting wasn't as good...

jBlakeeper502d ago

Bayonetta herself doesn’t even look as good design wise.

-Foxtrot501d ago

I thought they focused on big kaiju like fights which felt gimmicky and thy brought this new character in to try and get away from the leading star

*Spoilers*

I mean they pretty much killed 3 big characters. They killed Jeanne, Luka and Bayonetta herself and it's not the fact they died it's how they died, we've seen Jeanne and Bayonetta survive countless things yet they go out by the lamest ways possible.
