IGN:The very first official morning of E3 2013 brings the announcement of a new, higher resolution prototype of the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset. One of the biggest concerns expressed by early developers is the relatively low resolution found in the current kit. Oculus is now showing off a 1080p prototype in Los Angeles.
Tim Burton’s vision of Gotham brought to life by passionate fans.
They should have been made a batman game for the best batman movie. This looks amazing and now I must watch the movie.
YouTube's 'ackehallgren' has recreated the Rimmer's Rest from Star Wars Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight in Unreal Engine 4.
NVIDIA and Epic Games have released an official Unreal Engine 4 RTX Tech Demo.
Really impressive tech but I don’t even notice all of these benefits in real life, never mind being chased by zombies in a video game. Rather devote resources to resolution and frame rate.
Yes after seeing the Unreal 5 ps5 reveal, I thought that's where we were heading. But saying that I have read various articles that suggest its easy for developers to still work on Unreal 4 and carry everything over to Unreal 5 when needed, we shall see.
My "next gen".
waste of technology. i cant imagine anyone ever playing with that seriously
I have a high-end PC, also looking to get the PS4, hopefully this little bad boy works on both.
Sony should buy Oculus and the rights to it and make this their next-gen "Move" peripheral and test the market. Suitable move to the new bold Sony, where corporate strategy seems to embrace creativity and money-making at the same time.
That would challenge M$ further and inspire them to become a better company, and Sony needs good competition to stay on its toes (think of what PS3 taught to them). We already saw Ubisoft and EA reactions to Sony's customer-centric approach, also applauded by the developers community.
I am yet to try Oculus, but as a gamer I'm always open for new ideas and ways to play. I have read about it a lot, and people who actually try it say it's truly amazing, truly something new and innovative.
I can imagine already an RPG game made Oculus in mind: first person and relatively open-world, where you can walk in the world and the battle can sort of have "sides" as you can peak to the left and right. This could bring interesting strategic elements to games. Or in a horror game you could look into the mirror and see a ghost standing next to you, and you look left and it's gone! You look back in the mirror and it appears to be on your right side a knife on your throat etc.
So yeah, I think this thing is innovative as it inspired me to write about it this much in terrible hangover.
