During an interview in Paris earlier this week, Hideo Kojima talked about the development process of the newest game in the series, Metal Gear Rising Revengeance.
They must do it in there engine with the help of PG for the ps4. Because it's the reason they couldn't do it..
I just finished the last boss, as I type this im looking at the credits. I think as an open world game with the same combat, this game wouldve been much better. But then again there are dozens of games i can think of that would be better as a sandbox title. Hopefully the sequel can go that direction, but in any case, this game is a 7or8 on its own merits! Loved it.
For me it's at least 9/10 for current generation. It's good in everything and the graphics were alright ..
Then Plat Games took it over and said "Let's Dumb down the Game play and cut corners" The game is fun, but it should not carry the "Metal Gear" title. Everytime I see the title Metal gear, I think awesome story and great cutscenes. The story in this was tacked on and just felt like Ninja gaiden. Meh
I'm pretty sure it was going to be scrapped, then Kojima Studios asked Platinum to take the reigns.
See this is the problem with some reviewer's mentalities. They see the "Metal Gear" and expect it to be the same team behind the true Metal Gear games. This is a Spin-off by another company, with Kojima influences to keep the game as true to its Metal Gear roots as they could. I think PG did a fantastic job, and to judge the game using Metal Gear as a frame of reference is unfair to them. Theyre not trying to make a Metal Gear Solid game, they made a Metal Gear Rising Spin-off.
It's not just about the MG mentality, the game use to be a fully tactical game that wasn't quite as fast pace but was more about precision. Now it's all about speed and parring, I mean this is basically a grounded Zone of the enders mixed with Ninja Gaiden. All I'm saying is that this game was supposed to stand out, and be "Unique", and to me it's just a good game that hasn't developed it's own identity. People are too blinded by being a fan to even make a logical and rational conclusion. Although I admit, I thought it was going to be much worse...especially seeing the trended of cancelled and delayed games. I still bought it, and am still looking forward to play it, but I'm sorry if you compare pre Plat games with post, the game stood out like crazy before...both graphically and technically.
I agree with you Kb0. The game is great the way it is. But it could have been one of those truly unique and awesome games
It's about metal gear too so It's stupid asking to change it if you are a real mgs fan..
Well blame Koji-Pro for messing up and not getting the core concepts down. Platinum has never made a sandbox game before and Kojima went to them out of nowhere to make the game. What they've made here is bad ass as hell and maybe when they finalize the idea of a sequel it will be even better since they will have more time to work on things.
"Everytime I see the title Metal gear, I think awesome story and great cutscenes. " No, you're thinking Metal Gear SOLID, Metal Gear 1 and 2 weren't like this at all. Metal Gear Ac!d too. This is Metal Gear RISING.
Metal Gear 1 and 2 were before the time of cutscenes even being able to be compressed to those Bytes...also for it's time it was VERY cutscenish. Yes Metal Gear Ac!d series didn't have it, but at least they had an identity.
Well, there's something they could do with MGR2
This (open world) would have turn it into something truly awesome.
I think this decision may have been a disastrous, detrimental move for the experience, especially on this generation of hardware.
MGR was originally going to be a fucking awsome game but X360 couldnt handle it so they throw it to inferior graphic engine (or Platinum Games you name it)...that s the story
