I heard from those that bought it though, and its reviews, that it's one of the best RE games of recent times that Capcom has made...
So tbh, you saying only Poor souls see it as a 'great game' is illegitimate because a LOT of people then by your word are Poor for buying the original? More people are able to play and enjoy the game now without having to cash-in and buy a 3DS. It's a Win-Win scenario. Win that Gamers can play the game and Win for the company for making the choice to port it.
However, the only time it would be more of a loss for the consumer in this situation is if A) Capcom ports this game in the most shitty manner like RE4 to current-gen consoles where it was choppy, unoptimized, poorly done and where any texture mod out in the universe made the game look better and run better. B) The game is overpriced at launch because it's on 'consoles' rather than a handheld.
Nonetheless, you seem a bit cynical about Capcom and consumers as a whole.... Maybe you should take a break from gaming, lol
Do you think this port would've been announced if RE6 wasn't such a failure for Capcom(interms of the production cost/revenue)? The correlation between this port being announced and RE6 being a failure suggests that this is indeed a cash in attempt.
Ofcourse i distrust Capcom, only from experience though. RE6 was the biggest disappointment in the history of game releases by Capcom... until DmC. Listen i don't have to type down all the reasons Capcom have made me distrusting of them, i seriously have grown tired of doing that.
Resident Evil: Revelations is a great game, that much i know. It's gone back to the horror formula of RE games that was so well implemented. But do you think it will be a good port? No, it most certainly will not. Why? Revelations was optimized for a handheld device with 3D being a big part of the gameplay design choices. A port to the wide screen full HD capable consoles is a bad idea. They could've ported it to Vita... another handheld, which would be a better fit.... instead, they completely ignored Vita? Yes, Capcom once again shows us why they deserve to be distrusted. Where is the RE PSP game that was promised? Yes, Capcom once again sh...
You mentioned overpriced... Isn't Revelations going to cost $50? Yep.
I'm not bending over for any company my friend, if that makes me cynical then by all means keep calling me that.
What the rest see: A cash in attempt from Capcom.
What Capcom see: $$$$$$$.

...I was wrong.
And this box art looks better than some of the other Resi titles released in recent memory.
